This is my tenth time coming to this resort. We absolutely love the resort. The staff are incredibly friendly, they make us feel like family. The food is delicious. The beach is wide and clean. The pool is well maintained. The rooms are well maintained. Our friend Juan Carlos is an awesome entertaining manager. We will be coming back to the Gran Ventana in February 2024. We would like to make a shout out to Augustin, Raul, Elbi, Luis Miguel, Luis, Amable , Juan Carlos and his animation team for making our vacation special. Until next time we Love You 😘

This was a lovely place. We were on the second floor on the back so it was quiet at night. The food was good and the staff were so wonderful. The only drawback I would say would be the entertainment. There was really nothing that we decided to go and see, the beach is great. You can walk for miles and the rooms for very comfortable. The place is really well run and the staff are friendly and treated us so well. We talked to many couples who had been there several times before I would go back there.

After much research we chose this hotel for our two week vacation and it was all that was promised and exactly what we expected. Our first room was in the main part of the hotel and was okay. It was clean and modern but faced the jungle and some old buildings. We explored the hotel a bit and requested a move to a room nearer the quiet pool in another building away from the main hotel. Our request was accommodated quickly and very professionally. The front desk staff were wonderful. The second room was older and more dated than the first room but we enjoyed it more as we had a view of the pool and seeing water was important to us. The food at this resort was great. We ate at all 3 specialty restaurants and appreciated being served but the buffet was good all the time and we always came away satisfied. The beach was ok. Windy every afternoon but nice. You could walk for miles. The entertainment was ok. We really enjoyed the silent disco on Sundays. Great fun to dance and watch everyone feeling very uninhibited and enjoying the music. The only complaint and suggestion we have is this hotel needs to invest in more sun umbrellas. An umbrella for every two chairs would be appropriate. This would not be an expensive investment and would help eliminate the “chair saving”. We thoroughly enjoyed our two week here. We got exactly what we expected!

Hello so my brother and I travelled here from March 27th 2023 to April 3rd 2023. So first off I did all my research and everyone said oh VH Gran Ventana is great and everything. These are people who have been there numerous times over and over. So those people get added perks and are treated better by staff you can tell. I personally did not enjoy my time at the resort and if I had the option I would of left by Friday and gone to another resort in the same complex. First off we got to the resort at noon and the front desk staff didn’t seem very friendly at all noticed that right away. Our concierge brought us up to the Vintage club because we bought an upgraded package. We found that the Vintage Club or as I would call it maybe a lounge at best was very underwhelming overall. The snacks up there were meh at best. 1 tv up there was just annoying would of been nice to watch a baseball game. The wifi connection everyone was like a 2 out of 5 at best unless you were sitting in the lobby. The bartender made a decent Mango Daquiri in the lounge. Our room was not ready until 3 which was annoying as we were tired as hell as we were up since 3am. We didn’t get anything in our package really as we felt that once we got to our room it was outdated and everything. Catalina building room 2233. The fridge had rust on the outside there was no where to store our clothes living out of our bags for a week was bloody annoying. If we needed to switch our towel we would have to wait till turndown service which was mediocre at best. The food at this resort was a 2 out of 5 at best. The a la carte meals which we got 3 the food was just not good at all. Butchered my steak my brother thought his food was okay. Then at the Italian restaurant at least the pasta was decent but getting a rum and coke was impossible the servers are always focused on the other guests not 2 young adults 33 and 22 year old men. The seafood place the chicken was dry and mango sauce extremely sweet. The buffet for breakfast lunch and dinner was meh at best and got repetitive after a while. The entertainment was meh at best they really focus on the older crowds and not really looking to draw in families at all. My biggest pet peeve about this resort is the smoking. There is no controlling on where people smoke and it was disgusting. There was people who would smoke in the main pool at times the ashes were in the pool and it was extremely unpleasant. Staff say absolutely nothing. Huge turn off for a resort that’s for sure. The fact I couldn’t get an alcoholic beverage before 10am sucked like I’m on vacation. The beach was nice I’ll give the resort that but the vendors are ruthless especially in the private area as it was an annoyance that not all the Bali beds had covers so they would get super hot. The bartenders made solid drinks but closing up shop at 4:30 is another like why if anything. Closing the pool at 7pm is also annoying like it’s a resort there shouldn’t be a close time till like 9 or later and keep the swim up bar open later. As far as things in my package like having a safe key oh I have to do that myself go to the front desk like no I payed an upgrade that should of been done by my concierge. Also no fruit basket in the room as per stated in the package get told it’s only for return guests. The mall that’s in the complex Omg the store vendors being extremely pushy trying to rip off Canadians was terrible especially when 1 shop tried to sell drugs to my younger brother which was bad so we left that and didn’t go back the entire week. There isn’t enough shade with the chairs and I shouldn’t have to get up at 6am to get a shaded chair as people leave towels on chairs all day and don’t show up. I don’t feel like the staff really cares especially with new guests. Honestly I came to this resort to see if it would be a place to bring my fiancée and daughter and I wouldn’t come back to this resort even if I was paid to come back. Service was a 2 at best and quality overall a 2. I payed the $300 upgrade from my original package I would of booked and that upgrade isn’t worth it. Returning guests are treated so much better then new guests and this resort is 100% geared towards people 45 years of age and up not for young families in any capacity. My concierge did nothing to address my concerns and the front desk staff was full of attitude. I didn’t have a confrontation because I was in a foreign country that I had never been before. My only saving grace from this trip was my city tour which I booked on my own through an outside company and the beach bar we went to Big Lee’s the food was 10 times better then the resort. I would return to the Dominican but will never return to VH Gran Ventana.

We were a group of 6 staying at Gran Ventana from April 25 - May 2. It was my first time in Puerto Plata and it did not disappoint. I loved the beach! It was beautifully maintained and perfect for walking. The resort is a bit dated but it is clean and comfortable. I was a bit disappointed as there were a fair amount of bird droppings in the pool, which surprised us. We ate at all 3 A la cartes and they were great. The food was delicious and varied. The staff are amazing and the service was wonderful. Our only complaint was that it went from a "quiet" resort to very busy over the weekend because it was their "Labour Day" so there were many locals. Don't get me wrong, I loved listening to them speak and embrace different cultures, but it was overwhelming how many arrived...something to keep in mind for a future vacation. We were there for rest and relaxation and for most of the week, that is exactly what we got. However, I loved it so much, that I have already booked another trip to Gran Ventana.

This was our 5th time at Gran Ventana and certainly won’t be our last! The reason this is such a special place is the staff! Everyone is friendly, helpful, and work so hard to make our vacations so memorable! The managers are all on the front line… they don’t shy away behind closed doors. If anyone has any issues, management is there to rectify the situation! We have always purchased the Royal package as we like unlimited a’la carts and the wine that arrives in our room! We then take that wine to drink in the a’la cartes as we like it better! The Beach side service, Vintage lounge and towel service are also greatly appreciated with the Royal Package! We are repeat guests, which means we are members of the fidelity club and will attend the weekly cocktail party and a’lcarte supper! Just another perk to our stay! When we arrived, we found out that our room was upgraded to a jr suite! It was GREATLY appreciated especially with a 2 week stay! All resorts have rooms, beaches, pools, restaurants, but this one makes you feel that your business is important to them. It’s small, you can snorkel right off the beach and the service is fantastic! Some of the exceptional staff during our visit were the following: Raul at the buffet restaurant, made a point of high 5ing us at breakfast and lunch and asking us if everything was “excellent”! Ronal at the smoothie bar knew what I wanted after the 2nd day and for the next 12 days, he had our smoothies ready! Amable and Aquilino were very attentive at the beach! I also loved Fernando who filled in at the beach area and worked at the Buffett! He always had a smile on his face! We will definitely be back!

We were @ the Gran Ventana in Puerto Plata. The service was outstanding, we were there April 12-26 & enjoyed every minute. The staff in the buffet, a la carts bent over backwards for you for sure. A big shout out to Oscar & his amazing staff. Everyone always seem so happy from the housekeepers to the grounds workers, buffet staff,& the beach bar. We upgraded to Premium again & is worth every penny, Aquilino is amazing & Jose' was very helpful every morning for us. A big shout out to Adrienne in the buffet for breakfast and lunch, also to Rosa greeting us when we arrived. Raul in the buffet, & all the staff in the Vintage room. We will definitely be back next April, not sure yet about the reunion as we might be going East, but if we end up not going we definitely will as the reunion in Nov was amazing, Oscar & his staff outdid themselves for sure. This resort is the best, that's why we keep returning, I would like to see more shade @ the beach though, the Premium area seemed to be lacking umbrellas and the Bali beds tops need to be looked at, but other than that everything is outstanding 😊😊 June & Chuck

First off the staff are absolutely amazing. Always smiling very pleasant. We decided to do the premium and we are grateful for that as the drinks and especially wine every where else just did not cut it. However the Vintage room for premium and Royal the drinks were delicious and wine amazing. The private area for the Royal and premium clients at the beach were fantastic. Just loved the bartenders. Always willing to get you what you needed as well willing to grab some lunch and serve it to us at the beach. The hotel is definitely dated however it was clean. The swimming pool was not my favorite as there are too many birds flying around and your always dodging bird poop. Even though they cleaned it daily. Was never ending. Much preferred the beach. The public washroom were clean but very difficult to get in and out of as the door swings in and you have to try and maneuver around the toilet to get out. The food was very disappointed in. Only good meal we had was breakfast daily. However with that said there was only one guy who made the best omelettes. I wish I could remember his name as he ensured the eggs were cooked perfectly. We did enjoy the managers night food. Probably best night of food in the buffet. We are ate at all 3 a la cartes. However the only one that was good was the Italian. With that said the pasta was ice cold however the flavor was there. I did not care for either of the other a la carte. We were a group of 8 and our friends did enjoy the food, but it was definitely not what my husband and I are used to while we have stayed at other resorts in the DR. But what made the trip the best as I said from the beginning was the staff. They definitely work very hard to take care of your needs. Just wish the food was better.

This resort is the cleanest resort I have ever been to. Me and my friends/ family stayed 10 days and we had such a good time. The food was amazing, the pool was maintained very well, the beach as well. I got the VIP package and it was 1000% worth the money. The service at the beach was fantastic, especially in the VIP section of the beach. The rooms were always cleaned, the housekeeping staff were very polite and did a fantastic job. There are multiple bars all over the resort and all of the bartenders and so happy and welcoming and make amazing drinks. The best part i’d have to say is the entertainment at night. Every night there is always something going on and the entertainers are very happy and engaged with the crowd. ESPECIALLY Juan Carlos. All in all, I give this resort a 12/10
