Very disappointed with the different levels for access. We request premium drinks and we weren’t able to get any because we’re not VIP. Front desk at checkin told us that premium alcohol was included at list bars. We don’t mind paying for better alcohol. For the price of this resort we could have gone to an equivalent resort with what we wanted. Sorry to say I am not returning to any of these flag resort.

We are actually VIP members for over a decade. Post Covid sucks. We have to beg for the beer they are supposed to keep the Villa supplied with. Consierge says he books us for the restaurants we asked for but we never were. Really want to sell our membership. If you haven't been suckered into buying take warning and don't. They will tell you all you want to hear and once they have your money you're screwed. Guy with the clip board who comes around every morning to try and get you to upgrade will tell you every lie in the book to get you to go with them. Once you do and you don't upgrade, everything they promised goes away. They stuck us in a Villa in the noisiest part of the resort. Guy with the clipboard guaranteed he would move us to another villa and get us a 6 person golf cart for our group of 6 or a second cart if we went with him. He showed us the 2 villas we could choose from. Went and sat through the whole sales pitch with his supervisor. We declined to join the new scams they got going and we're sent on our way back to the original Villa with no upgraded or additional cart. Supervisor said our Gold member status didn't entitle us to a 6 person cart only Platinum and up. Ended up not even using the cart we had since it only held four. Shameful business model. CEO should be drawn and quartered for allowing this nonsense. If you are coming just for a one and done trip I suppose it's ok but don't buy in.

The Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort And Spa is an OK resort. No more no less. Food is OK and varied. Two bars offering a full variety of drinks. A lobby that deserves to be demolished and rebuilt. Rooms clean and comfortable. And the cost is absolutely unbeatable. Which made me wonder why is was so affordable, Found out after a couple of days touring the facility. Lifestyle attracts tourists with very low prices. Once there, they try to sell you an upgrade to VIP which would make your stay cost way more than a regular resort. Buying in to VIP gets you all the fancy restaurants, all the fancy pools, all the fancy bars and you even get a golf cart on top to get to all these top notch amenities. Hence, I felt like a second class tourist at this resort. First time ever in any resort. I am used to be able to go anywhere in the resort I am staying at. Not this one. There are even security guards making sure you have VIP status in order to access VIP amenities. Top of my list of resorts I will never go again.

Great value for the money. Room was clean, lots of hot water, no problems. Staff was always polite and accommodating. Food was good, not spectacular, but plentiful, lots of variety and I didn't hear of anyone getting sick. Huge resort (actually 4 in 1) and you could walk around and use all of them (except for the members only VIP sections and restaurants). Many restaurants (Asian, Mexican, Indian etc.) if you make the effort to make reservations during the small window available to do so. Beach was ok, on the small side but not rocky and the water is beautiful. Lots of pool options with lots of beach chairs but they're always claimed - it seems that people put their towels etc. on chairs before 7am, even if they go unused much of the day. No different from other resorts though - people can be jerks. Nice mix of guests - old, young, a few families with kids, no loud party animals while I was there. Didn't check out the evening entertainment shows but heard they were ok. Overall a great vacation - great value.

I want to start by saying I’m not a first class 5 star only vacationer. I’ve traveled quite a bit and this is the first vacation I really would not do again even if it was free. What did I like: our villa was nice with a private pool. All bedrooms were king with private bath. Every morning we had a housekeeper cook us breakfast in our villa which was fantastic. Our housekeeper was the highlight of the trip. Weather also was good. It rained every night but the days were nice. Now the negatives: our friends were Intravel members and boy did they try to sell them on this resort. We were not VIP so could not access a lot of restaurants , beaches or bars. The 2nd day we were there a Lifestyle rep came and told my friends who were the members that he would take them on a tour and they would get a golf cart. Not accurate, he took them to meet a sales rep for a presentation and since they did not buy in-no golf cart. They then came back 2 days later stating if they did not come back and sit through the entire presentation that the first guy might lose his job. The food and drinks were mediocre at best. This will be the first vacation that I’ve actually lost weight. In addition, the beach was non existent, definitely not a nice beach to lounge on. Also when at the beach area, those who work for the spa are like vultures harassing you to sign up for the spa. Those not trying to sell you something were polite, the wait staff at the buffet was good. The grounds were clean. In the villa there was some black mold on a few vents. I will never travel to any Lifestyle property again. Buyer beware.

Did this as a resort for a day through Carnival. The experience gave us our own personal beach bed, unlimited drinks and food, and access to a decent beach area. It was relaxing to lounge on the bed or dip your toes in the water. Food was nothing spectacular, but perfectly acceptable compared to other places hosting similar experiences.

The resort shows 4 1/2 stars but it is worse. The food is good and the resort is quite lovely but the staff is awful...If you buy the preferred upgrade, you are wasting your money. There are no wrist bands provided but they are supposed to ask you your room number in the preferred section but they never do. Anyone can go over...its a joke. The staff really isn't interested in serving you....and that's 90% plus of staff... Pick another resort...believe me

I have mixed feelings on this resort. We had a standard room with two beds. The beds were clean, not the most comfortable but they were fine. Our A/C unit dropped and leaked into the floor into a puddle everyday. For the money we didn't bother complaining. Our bathroom water ran hot, everything from the shower to the tab to the toilet! Our friends room only had cold water. The grounds are ok, the cabanas are comfortable if you can get one. The people visiting at the same time as us were incredibly rude. People putting their belongings on the cabanas in the late hours or middle of the night so you had no chance of getting one. Not only did the pre take their cabanas but they also took 1 to 2 sunchairs with it. Leaving a lot of people nowhere to sit around the pools. Same goes for the cabanas down by the beach. We witnessed many fights over people trying to save cabanas for the entire day that they spent barely any time in. There are no chairs or anything down at the beach. The waves are fun and very strong, be prepared to get knocked over and full of sand. The staff- here is where I struggle the most. There are so many wonderful people at this resort, very sweet and friendly. Then there is an excessive amount of people that just harass you to the point that it is hard to enjoy yourself. I was asked at least 6 times a day every single day if I wanted a massage, if I wanted photos taken, if I was going to book the spa, if I was going to do the welcome tour. The first day was fine but by the third and fourth day it was incredibly annoying. Every time you walk by someone, suntanning and enjoying some relaxation .. without fail... They would come and ask again and again and again. This hotel needs to understand, By day two we are fully aware of the services you provide and we want to book any of them we will! The more you harass people, the less likely they are to do it. The food is good most days. The Buffett is typical, the fruit is incredible. We had the Asian, Mexican and Brazilian al a carts and all three were very good. The good drinks are down at the beach bars. Unfortunately, three out of the four of us did get sick. All on different days. Myself and another were violently ill. Hard to pin point exactly what caused it but after reading other reviews and taking to some other guest there, it seems to be an issue, that didn't hit just us. If this hotel could tone done the pressure on their guests to book the spa ect, I would have had a much better stay. Don't think I would return here but enjoyed the memories made and some of the few staff members that helped make the visit better. The casino is not a casino but more a sports bar with some slot machines. The pools and beaches close around 5 or 6 and the entertainment is obsolete. There is nothing to do from dinner time until the shows start at 9:30 and I hate to say it, but the shows are terrible.

Food and Drinks – food good, lots of restaurants and bars. VIP beach area featuring a Sushi Bar, and better drinks. Entertainment – Big gala for Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve (size of football field with tents of food and drinks). Sports bar with small casino (10 machines, awesome drinks, popcorn, nachos). Fun games around pool, nightly entertainment Michael Jackson awesome. Beach – Nice sand beach but yellow or red flag up most of the time, large waves people surfing and jumping the waves. Shopping huts on beach. Pool – Many pools with free cabanas, mostly at VIP beach area, whirlpool tubs in lower level. Excursions – Ocean world can be seen from resort and is walkable. We only took taxi to Puerto Plata shopping at Supermarket called Jumbo. (good prices on coffee and booze). Shuttle - Service around resort, we walked to everything as resort is very well laid out like a little village, duty free store and shopping. Pros - 3.5*, delightfully impressed, large resort like little village, was able to use some of the VIP perks, resort so big did not use it all, excellent staff. Cons – Lots of stairs and levels. No elevators. Safe and wifi extra and wifi not reliable.

This is our third trip to this resort and the first time since 2019. It did not disappoint. We were there for a month and attended the galas on Dec 24 and 31- spectacular events. There were occasional first world inconveniences but all the staff are friendly , hard working and so helpful. The activity staff were awesome, full of jokes and friendly-Rambo, mini- me and others!!! The best bars were the casino and the VIP beach bars. The drink called orgasmo was partially delish. We enjoyed most of our meals but especially Blue Lagoon, Mexican , Thai and Bellini the best! The pools were well maintained and wonderful, especially the adult pools. The spa was great with fabulous massages, free wifi and friendly staff. We were not owners or VIPs so could not enjoy several amenities and restaurants but we enjoyed all that we had access to. We made new friends playing pickleball and were happy to see that there were now 3 pickleball courts. We had a positive experience arrival and departure from the airport, travelling Air Transat. We hope to return!
