My teenage daughter and I stayed in a casita here for five days. It was a wonderful experience. Tim, the owner, is very thoughtful, and Miguelina, the Manager, is a genius at managing things. The food was great. The views are amazing. This is not an all-inclusive tourist hotel where one is removed from the community, but rather a place where you can and should learn a little bit about where you are staying. The casitas are sparse and perfect in their integration within the environment. Take the hike to the secret waterfall! You won't find this anywhere else. My daughter and her friend, who also visited with her mother, will remember this visit forever.

Great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the City. Tim and his staff are very helpful. The accommodations are clean and comfortable and all have open sides to the beautiful view of the valley all the way to the ocean. We dropped in for lunch with a number of friends. Some brought their own liquor, some purchased liquor. The meal was delicious at a reasonable price. If we were staying overnight we would bring our own food and drinks, which is totally acceptable.

Our third visit to the ecolodge and it was still fantastic! New Casita with king sized bed, loft with two twins, full private bathroom and beautiful views of the coast line. Had three great meals, a great bird walk, and lots of attention from all the staff.

My husband and I came to Tubagua on March 9th, 2019. We didn’t stay at Tubagua Ecolodge but we did a lot of research and it looked like they had the most unique, non-touristy tours in all of Puerto Plata. I emailed Tim (the owner) several months in advance asking about the tours they offered and he was always so quick to respond and answered all my questions quickly. We decided to do the Ancient Pathways tour. Tim even coordinated a car service for round trip transportation to and from Puerto Plata to Tubagua. The driver that drove us both ways made us feel very safe and told us a lot about the area. We were picked up from our hotel at 8:30am and then arrivedto Tubagua at 9:00am. We started our hike right away with Juanin. We hiked all around the countryside. Jaunin knew all the

As my wife and I traveled by rental car from Puerto Plata, we were very surprised how quickly the road to Tubagua rose above the surrounding landscape. When we walked into the Eco Lodge grounds we were thrilled to see all of the thatch-roofed buildings and the very open, expansive views from the main dining hall and our cabina. We especially enjoyed sitting on our balcony overlooking the north coastline, and listening to the song of palm chats and hummingbirds. Being serenaded by a chorus of frogs and crickets was a special treat that we often dream about, and were able to experience at Tubagua. Miguelina was the head of housekeeping, and she did a wonderful job of ensuring all of our needs were met. She arranged for our laundry to be cleaned, severed us meals, and helped

We spent two very restful days at Tubagua, sitting on the veranda looking over the valley to the ocean. The peace and quiet was a welcome respite from the goofy all inclusive resorts. The staff was wonderful with a warm welcome and cheerful service. We did the meal plan which I highly recommend, the home cooked meals were a great mix of fresh Dominican food. The bed in the open air cabana was very comfortable. Bathrooms are basic but the shower had hot water and an incredible view over the valley. I wish we had the time and energy to take some of the walks and visit some of the surrounding county side, something I plan on doing when we visit Tubagu again. Also if you need transportation ask for Luis he's a great driver and is full of information on the area.

We came to the Ecolodge for the lunch that was included in our fantastic nature hike package. What a surprise when we finally arrived! We found ourselves perched on the tiptop of the mountain with an amazing view of the distant mountains, valley and ocean. The lunch was delicious, with savory lentils, salad and a delicious flavored fish dish. For desert we had fried bananas with chocolate sauce and the best cup of coffee so far on the island. Visiting with the family cat and dog were an extra fun activity. Our hostesses were absolutely lovely.

I stayed at Tubagua Eco Lodge for two nights, and although the views from our room and the dining area were fantastic, I left feeling as though I had been way overcharged for the privilege. The lodge is a good 40 minutes drive from the city of Puerto Plata, meaning that once you arrive there you are rather isolated, even if you have a car like we did. This is especially the case as driving in the dark in the DR can be a rather harrowing experience. When combined with the fact that none of breakfast, lunch or dinner is included in the room price, you realise that these additional costs are almost unavoidable. You therefore need to take into account that each day you'll need to pay an extra $7.50/person (+28% tax) for breakfast, $17.50/person (+28% tax) for dinner and (if you

We're so sorry you and your partner (who also sent in a 2-star review) didn't enjoy your stay at Tubagua. We take our reviews very seriously and whenever we receive a less than 4-star review we have a staff meeting and go over it with a fine-toothed comb. From each one we strive to find out how we can improve our facilities and client service. Thank you for pointing out with detail the things that didn't satisfy you. It will help us in our goal of maintaining our current score of 96% good and excellent reviews.

Starting with the positives. Yes this place is truly stunning and we loved the view from our bungalow. However, we found that our stay deteriorated after initial good impressions. We have stayed at ecolodges in many countries around the world including the fabulous Aventura ecolodge in nearby Rincon, and can say Tubagua ecolodge was exceptionally disappointing in comparison. The prices are ludicrous. 5 American dollars plus 28% tax for a bottle of beer is crazy. The price you pay for accommodation should at very least include breakfast, especially as you’re seriously isolated. It did not. We were not allowed to book a packed lunch as we hadn’t emailed beforehand even though we could see people making them up in front of our eyes. I feel like this place has an identity

We had lunch at this wonderful location as part of a coffee experience tour from our cruise ship. After driving up from the coast, we had an introduction to coffee production in the DR in the lodge's learning centre along the road. We were then able to participate in the planting of coffee seeds in order to grow seedlings to give to local farmers in order to revitalise the coffee industry in DR. Finally we were shown the harvesting, roasting, grinding and brewing processes before trying a cup. We were then taken along to the lodge where a stew lunch was provided in the restaurant with amazing views of the countryside down to the coast. The grounds are impressive and the lodge looks well taken care of. The owner spoke to the group a couple of times during our stay and we had the
