This place has amazing, well cared for grounds and an expansive view towards the ocean from the "living room." The rooms, the service and the food were all amazing and far surpassed our expectations. Tim the proprietor was a great help and answered our questions along with providing local knowledge. We were introduced to a friendly, no-pressure guide (Juanin) who took us on a hike to the local waterfalls. He knew everyone along the way. I am vegetarian and they were accommodating to my needs while still providing excellent local food family style for our group of 4. Each of the rooms is a little different and has unique character. We were happy to have hot showers in our room (or outside) as well. The town of Puerto Plata is about a 20 minute drive for other activities. The road

This is a great eco resort perched on top of a mountain. Our group stayed there for a couple nights before heading to another part of the island and really enjoyed our time. The staff and meals were excellent and went out of their way to help us, making travel recommendations, arranging rides, and offering suggestions. We did a fun hike with excellent guide to a local waterfall and aqua swimming holes - a beautiful place far from other tourists.

Incredible view, amazing food and service, great people. A place you "need" to see and to injoy. I just love the architecture and the idea behind it. Simple and clean. It`s very easy to love this lodge.

When we were organizing our trip to the Dominican Republic, we wanted to find a place to stay which would be like a mini adventure for our 9 year old daughter without going too far out of our comfort zone. Tubagua ticked all the boxes! The trip is 6 weeks ago now and my daughter can’t stop talking about it! We stayed in the cabin with private bathroom. I have to disagree with previous reviews, we loved the rustic feel of it, it was definitely quirky (in a good way) and felt very homey! The outdoor deck of the cabin is very private and a nice place to ‘hang’. We liked the little wooden bridge to the outdoor shower with plenty of hot water! And our daughter had to climb a ladder to sleep on a platform above our bed, she loved it! As for the mosquitos... if you know how to set up

Pros -Authentic Fresh food (5 STAR) -Mirador View (5 STAR) -Service (5 STAR) Cons -Noise of road -Specific Mealtime Hours, although it is ecofriendly theme food & they don’t want to heat up in a microwave, should consider another option in keeping food hot
