The property is just amazing. I had one of the casitas which was beautiful and had a splendid view. I didn't see a mosquito or fly the entire 3 days. The room and bath had all of the comforts. Comfortable bed. The staff, while not always smiley, will try to make sure your requests are satisfied. It is very homey with the friendly dogs and cats. You can walk around the area. It felt very safe. I hired the guide to go the waterfalls which is a must. I took most meals at the lodge and they were all plentiful and delicious. Just two warnings. The road getting to the ecolodge is not for the faint of heart. You really need an all terrain vehicle. The wifi is not very good - you can't stream - but this is the sort of special place that one should disconnect as much as possible.

The road has been under re-construction. Of the 40 kms between Santiago and Puerto Plata, there are 10 kms waiting to finish paving. Any type of rental car can now easily reach us, even the smallest cheapest ones.

We spent a night in the cabana with a private bath. The views of the mountains and the sea were amazing. Dinner was incredible coupled with spectacular views. We really felt like we were somewhere special! The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. We were able to unwind and relax. We would have planned to stay longer had we known what a special place this is. My only suggestion would be to bring a fan. The temperature was comfortable by early morning, but I was warm falling asleep. Thank you Tubaqua for a wonderful visit!

Thanks for the kind words. Most nights don't need fans but we have a couple available for those who ask. Sorry we didn't solve that for you...

Accommodating despite short notice, lovely lunch looking out over Puerto Plata. Guide was excellent. and we really enjoyed learning about the local communities. Lunch was served in an open lounge with beautiful views.

We did not stay at the lodge, but just went for the day for the ancient pathways hike. It was great. Our guide Juanin was very informative and grew up in the area, Tonta the dog also joined in. This is off the beaten path and down country roads and fields and to a lovely swimming pool and water falls. Tim the owner was helpful when I emailed with questions. We had lunch at the end. Very enjoyable as we had worked up quite an appetite. Beautiful views from the lodge. Just over minute taxi from Sosua. Thanks unique experience.

I would like to thank Tim and his staff for a great visit to the Tubagua Eco Lodge. We were a group of five friends in our mid 50s that went on a hike with 2 guides through the countryside to a waterfall. They were very knowledgeable about the area and answered all of our questions The scenery on the mountainside was breathtaking! The hike was about 1.5 hrs each way. We were able to swim in a beautiful pool of water there which cooled us off for the trek back This hike was at our leisure which was great because none of us were athletes so it was a bit exhausting but we were happy for the opportunity to participate in something so different. A delicious lunch was provided for us after the hike that included dominican stew with rice and salad. We were also able to purchase

I stayed a couple of days at the Tubagua eco lodge. The view is to die for, the staff and owner very friendly and helpful, excellent food and nice swimming pool to relax in. I also went on a hike with a local guide, this was amazing, visiting the village, surrounding nature and natural swimming pool. Highly recommended if you want an off-the-beaten track experience in an ecolodge. I would surely go back some day!

We had an excellent time there and enjoyed the stay very much. The view is spectacular, rooms are unique and you feel in the middle of nature. Tim is creating an absolute welcoming and open atmosphere with his team and make you feel home from the first minute. Good food for breakfast and dinner is making the package complete. We would come back at any time and can say that this was definitely the best place we stayed during our round trip in this holidays.

We went up for one night looking for some peace and quiet and were amazed by the beauty and openness of the space. It is made with natural materials but make no mistake: by no means is it rustic. It is sturdy and planned out in such a thoughtful way that it works with nature, not against it. The views are breathtaking, the gardens relaxing and the cabin we stayed at was happiness laid out for those who appreciate the ecological way. The meals consisted mainly of fresh local produce, rearranged and highlighted in surprising, delicious ways by the most amiable staff. The whole ambience gave us just what we were looking for -disconnect- yet were not deprived of any comfort. What took my heart, though, was the warm presence the owner, his smart conversation and his devotion to the

I was blown away by the kindness, courtesy, and warmheartedness of the staff, the accommodation and the view, and the magic of the chef who made me the most incredible vegan dishes I have had on this island! And I did a fantastic birding tour with their guide. This place should be so much better known than it is! Can't recommend it highly enough!

We planned our stay at Tubagua as an anniversary “escape” from the hustle and bustle of Sosúa. Tim was such a gracious host, reserved us a private en-suite casita for us and had a surprise dessert for our anniversary! The views down to the coast are spectacular, grounds are natural and lush, casitas are clean and welcoming! The food was incredible. Lunch and dinner are served family-style: delicious, fresh and abundant. And large breakfast made to order! My only recommendations to future guests are: bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper: traffic, roosters and dogs do interrupt the calm of Tubagua. And get good directions ahead of time- no signs on the main road. All in all, an amazing, unique and memorable experience. Thank you Tim and staff!
