Service and elegance make up for imperfections. The valet staff was welcoming and was a welcome relief from Santo Domingo trafficl Once in the hotel, although there was only one person checking in guests (Kerby - pleasant and efficient), an associate (Shaquille) was super friendly and charming and offered me a drink (cerveza) to soothe the wait. Very upscale hotel with the checkin lobby on the 6th floor. Aura (helping at check-in was lovely, charming and helpful. Aura, Shaq and the valets made the stay memorable. at checkin was pleasant too. Otherwise only 4 stars or maybe even 3. Now for the imperfect: One facecloth and one robe and one pair of slippers in a room for two. The “windowsill” division next to the bath had ten toe-marks, obviously not well cleaned. (I will try to upload photo). Prices were just too high for everything including room service; I would not pay $300+ for this room (I used points). And the traffic to get here was unbearable – 30 minutes for the last 3 miles. Although the staff recommended the in-hotel restaurants, the shared dining area for some was too American-mall ish for be. I’ll be at the Intercontinental next week and will have something to compare. Would I return – maybe.…
Impecable service, spotless clean and great amenities. Great breakfast with to go option if needed. Very friendly staff from the bus boy to the bartenders on the lobby, highly recommend. The rooftop 24 hours Pool is something not to miss. Above the Blue Mall you have many options to shop and I tried Spices and Shibuya and both restaurants were amazing.
My room overlooked a construction site and was in need of some basic maintenance, e.g., mold in the very ample shower, scuff marks on the walls, no remote for the TV but one soon arrived with expectations for a tip. I obliged but what hotel room doesn’t have a remote? More disconcerting was that I was told I would get a complementary breakfast before my early departure—but it never arrived. And, I was charged $22 for help connecting to the wifi. Yes, the person at the desk did help with that but he said nothing about such an outrageous charge, which I only saw upon arrival home. I had asked for my bill the night before but, alas, like the promised breakfast it too was never delivered.
This is our 3rd time staying at this Marriott and it will likely be our last. We need to fly through DR regularly so we sometimes use this as our stop over hotel and arrive late at night and leave early in the morning. Today we decided to arrive a little earlier so we could enjoy a pool day on their rooftop pool area that looks amazing on their website. Big mistake. 1. The pool is freezing cold. Not the type of cold that you get used to after a few minutes, it’s simply not heated and unless you are a Wim Hof devotee you won’t be able to use it. 2. They claim it’s a 24 hour pool which is an easy achievement given there are no pool staff. There are QR codes with menus but no staff to take an order. 3. Want a towel or to know where the changing rooms are? You are out of luck because there are no staff to help. 4. The pool area is next to a massive building site so it’s not stop jackhammers (see attached photo) Last time we stayed here earlier this year I noticed on checkout that they charged me for Basic internet (even though I provided my Bon Voy membership number) and they also charged me for high speed Internet that we never used. It’s insane in 2022 that you charge $400+ per night and still try to screw your guests out of a few dollars if they want to simply check their email. The rooms are nice and are a similar standard to other Marriotts.…
I spend three day at be live collection marien and it was a great experience, i had a wonderful time thanks to the employes that has a great service, i went to the vip lounche and evelin, marlen and Yohaira were excepctionel, always with a full service. Thank you so much
The hotel is conveniently located in the most high-end mall in the country, which is also conveniently located in the heart of the city. With how heavy the traffic is at most times, everything from restaurants to most place of businesses are less than a kilometre away. The staff is fantastic, and the food is excellent. the bar is certainly unique and the views are great! My only biggest turn-off is their American approach to billing it's very sneaky! In a country where prices are always displayed including taxes just like most countries. They exclude it from the price only to find out at the point of payment. Expect to pay around 30% more then displayed prices.
Booked for June & due to travel emergency we cancelled. Spent 2 hours on the phone to be told that the SPECIFIC ROOM wasn't available for refund! then they hung up! Can't even trust their disclaimers!
It had been over 5 years since my last visit and now will be returning frequently and back to only this hotel. The services were all excellent. From the moment I needed to chat while delayed and was in need of urgent services prior to check-in, to my 1am check-in, room services, restaurant dining with local colleagues, on-site pre-trip covid testing services, everything that I wanted and needed was made available and with a smile. Everyone is so pleasant and courteous. Love the staff and services here - the rooms were very clean and comfortable as well of course. Oh and I left something in my room which I realized after returning home and it was found by housekeeping and mailed to my house! THANK YOU TEAM JW MARRIOTT SANTO DOMINGO!!!
Willy and peguero provided great service. Willy was thoughtful, refilling our drinks when needed while not forgetting our ice cold water needed throughout the day. Bar staff was very friendly and attentive making our vacation an enjoyable visit. Thank you Willy
During my 3 weeks DR trip I decided to stay 5 nights at this JW Marriott hotel, first because it is very well located right in Blue Mall and it was supposed to be a high end, luxury hotel. When I first arrived with my bags, there was nobody to help me with the bags, it seems there is only one bag helper and he was busy with other customers. The ground floor lobby is ugly, there is no place to sit, a lot of cables hanging. The main lobby at floor 14 I think was very pretty. The check-in process was very fast. I stayed at the highest floor, the elevators were nice, at my floor near my room there was a huge stain on the carpet. The room was pretty, very modern. Something awful and unacceptable was that the hotel had a huge tap water problem. I didn't have water in the bathroom several times, 3 different days. Twice I was showering and then no more water. On my last night, I had to finish showering with some water bottles I had. Right before getting into the Hotel's Gym, there was water dropping from the ceiling into some stairs. This is very dangerous, my wife almost get injured. The breakfast was excellent, very delicious and with a good variety. The Hotel's bar was OK. In my opinion this Hotel is not luxurious, and therefore too expensive. This Hotel shouldn't have all these issues.…
