The first luxurious avant-garde design hotel in the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo Dominican Republic. Billini Hotel (BH) reflects the concept of modernism, simplicity and elegance. We strive to exceed our guest expectations from the beginning to end. Its bold design can be seen in its world class suites and state of the art in room equipment.

Overall this hotel is impressive. The layout, the design and the rooms are top notch. The pool is fun, although it can get crowded. The rooms are comfy (but a bit dark), and the building is safe and well kept.
I am wondering why there is only one bottle opener in the hotel- especially if they leave a free bottle of wine in the room. They were very strange when I asked where the bottle opener in the room was and the bar was weary about lending me their crappy one. Then they asked that I return it immediately. I thought this might be a one time snafu, but the same thing happened when I returned a week later. The bar staff complained about the crappy bottle opener. Why is this small situation a big one?
Also - breakfast was not good. The fruit was cut with the peels on and it was unripe. And the woman working that morning was rude.
I also am confused why I paid $34 for takeaway hot dogs (the only option they provided me when we arrived at 10pm due to a storm). It seems like they should have some basic snacks or find a better solution as I’m sure I’m not the first guest to arrive late.
Despite the weird situations, I felt like most of the staff tried hard and made me feel welcome and I’d definitely choose to stay there again.

Lovely hotel. Fabulous amenities. Central location. Excellent customer care. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this exceptional hotel.
Every member of the staff was accommodating, kind, and respectful. The rooms were unique and comfortable. Any (minor) complaint we had was quickly remedied. Great value for the price! We made the rooftop pool our second home for most of the week we were there. The coffee, the pizza next door, the room service. Even the common areas were a delight for hanging out.
Everything was beyond our expectations!

Guidebooks I read said this was one of the best hotels in the Colonial Zone. It may be but I expected more. The hotel is in a good location and it does occupy an old historic building but for me the age and decadent outweighed the charm I would have expected to find here. The room we were in had many issues (glass bathroom door not opening, light not working, water leaking from ceiling, window not properly closing, awkward hazardous nightlights, not TV internet connection). My wife saw past all the issues and just saw the charm, I saw otherwise.
Additionally the bed for us was hard and not everyone at the front desk spoke English which made it slightly harder for us to get the information we wanted.
That said, the hotel is in a good location and may well be ‘nicer’ than the other alternatives in this city. I did expect more than what we received based on what we paid, but perhaps in this country this really is one of the best hotels. I am thinking that some of the western chain hotels are probably nicer but....

Stayed for 2 night having booked a room with a view, was offered a ground floor room whose window view was of 3 people right outside at a table. The lights did not work and the room smelled of damp so insisted on being moved. Then got a room with a patio view, still smelled of damp but turned out to be extremely noisy as people partied in the courtyard.
Minimalistic breakfasts also in the same busy courtyard, which if you are there at weekends mean people are rushing in and out through the restaurant area setting up weddings et al.
On a positive side it is a good location to explore the old town and the bar on the roof is good for an evening cocktail.

So far staff are great and room is clean but there is a dull loud noise and screams coming from a wedding party just beginning.
I've stayed in a BH Hotel in the colonial zone in Bogota and it was good. So why not try in SD for my birthday knowing location.
But already it is ruined by noise.
We can't enjoy a meal in the restaurant for all the wedding revellers and it's not their problem. It is an inconsiderate management putting profit and noise over true boutique hospitality. And it is raining outside so everything is ruined.
I hope tomorrow my birthday is better than this 'earplug' Sunday night.
Shame on you owner.

It literally took me 30 minutes to shower because the water pressure was horrible... Horrible may be an understatement it literally was slow dripping out and the front desk had the nerve to charge me $38 for a towel that had some dirt on it from a waterfall I visited. Well if the water worked that wouldn't have been an issue right? You know because I could have properly rinsed off... They could have literally washed the towel but clearly they just wanted $38 bucks. I've stayed elsewhere in the colonial zone and this has never happened before.

Christmas holiday in Santo Domingo. We booked the hotel via booking.com, as it seemed really very luxurious and exclusive. The reality didn’t quite match with the impression we got from booking.com though. Although a television with streaming capabilities was part of the deal, in reality this was not working. No normal towels were provided at first hand, we had to ask for this. No floor mat in the bathroom. The coffee machine was of a very poor quality. In fact it was not possible to make a decent coffee with it. We could make tea with it, but we had to ask for new tea bags every day. They were not replenished without us asking for it. Good things: the bed was excellent. Also a very nice private jacuzzi o our terrace.

It's going to be difficult to make a review! When you confirm a reservation after verbal commitment, they don't reply! As per previous comments, the administration is useless. Fortunately DR offers alternatives. So don't worry and select an international managed hotel!

I was excited at the reviews from others, but it didn't live up to our expectations, unfortunately. The property looks great, has been mostly updated, and is well maintained. We had a terrace executive suite on the 3rd floor with a hot tub. However, there were several issues.
Room: Water pressure is low and barely gets hot. I asked the front desk to look into the water pressure and nothing was done or followed up on. Due to the construction next door, it was very noisy from 8:45 am (even on Saturday), which also eliminated any privacy on the terrace. There's no sound insulation so we heard every person and conversation happening outside the room in the hallway. No face towels were provided. You have to ask for an iron/ironing board. They don't speak English so I had to walk down to the basement with the maintenance guy to find one, which we kept in the room.
Staff: Slow, unattentive, has difficulty with closing out checks. We waited for at least 10 minutes every time we wanted to close a bill. You have to get up and find them to order, etc. They don't monitor the dining room or rooftop bar sufficiently to check on you.
Property: Well-positioned to walk to a lot of restaurants, etc. The gym is horrible. It's the size of a bathroom and contains a bike with a fan-operated by a battery, which wasn't charged, a broken treadmill, one medicine ball, and free weights.
Rooftop bar & Pool: Some nights movies are projected on a large silkscreen. The pool has no shade whatsoever. There are a few lounge chairs with no more than 2 umbrellas. Prepare to get burned. They don't have consistent policies for parties, closing and noise. One party was allowed to go until 2 am and we had to endure every conversation still taking place well after 2:30.
I wouldn't stay here again.

Showed up early (~11am) and were told that check in isn’t until 3pm and our room was not ready. They offered to store our luggage and check in our vehicle and we were free to use the pool and other hotel areas. Nice relaxing vibe at the rooftop pool and lounge; perfect place to wash off any stress you might have picked up. After some pool time, we changed and went out to wander and snack through the colonial zone. We returned around 2:45pm to check in and our room was still not available; this time we were told it would be another 30 minutes. We decided to avoid the rain and have a beverage in the hotel bar and our room was available around 4pm. Overall, staff was friendly and helpful and the room (213) was small, yet comfortable and well appointed with coffee/tea/minibar and typical complimentary toiletries.

We stored our luggage for several hours both upon arrival & departure. The request was met with delight, as is standard with employees here. No problem should be encountered with your luggage.
