Overall this hotel is impressive. The layout, the design and the rooms are top notch. The pool is fun, although it can get crowded. The rooms are comfy (but a bit dark), and the building is safe and well kept. I am wondering why there is only one bottle opener in the hotel- especially if they leave a free bottle of wine in the room. They were very strange when I asked where the bottle opener in the room was and the bar was weary about lending me their crappy one. Then they asked that I return it immediately. I thought this might be a one time snafu, but the same thing happened when I returned a week later. The bar staff complained about the crappy bottle opener. Why is this small situation a big one? Also - breakfast was not good. The fruit was cut with the peels on and it was unripe. And the woman working that morning was rude. I also am confused why I paid $34 for takeaway hot dogs (the only option they provided me when we arrived at 10pm due to a storm). It seems like they should have some basic snacks or find a better solution as I’m sure I’m not the first guest to arrive late. Despite the weird situations, I felt like most of the staff tried hard and made me feel welcome and I’d definitely choose to stay there again.

We stayed here for three nights to give us a chance to explore the colonial quarter of Santo Domingo. You just stepped out into the heart of this quarter. The front of the building giving onto the street is old with a tasteful modern extension behind. We had a fine room (we upgraded to one with a bath but all the rooms were tastefully decorated). In normal times we would have explored the restaurants in the area but of course they were closed so we ate at the hotel - they have delicious homemade pasta with a variety of sauces. There is a small pool on the roof which we took advantage of as well as eating there on one evening (the food had to be carried up by a friendly waitress, Paramina, from the lobby!) Service was fine.

More pleased than I could have imagined with this hotel. Wish we had stayed longer! Upon check-in, they informed us we had booked a room with two double beds. Not sure if that was an error on their part or mine, since we did book through a 3rd party. Either way, they promptly offered us a room with a king bed. The room was immaculate, with the most comfortable bedding ever. The grounds and views here are incredible! Watching the sunrise and sunset on the rooftop was so peaceful. The food service is a little slow and they were out of some menu items, but the food was delicious. We did have to ask a couple times for a city tour and they didn’t have a driver available for a tuk tuk, but they set us up with a company that gave us a guided walking tour. I would not stay anywhere else in Santo Domingo!

We know all good hotels in Santo Domingo and can easily say that the Billini is the best of all. Very smartly decorated like a true luxury boutique hotel, clean rooms, spectacular rooftop pool, excellent service. And best of all: the restaurant. You often get mediocre food in Santo Domingo. But the quality you get at the Billini is absolutely world class. Every dish was delicious and very nicely prepared. Host Lilo came by our table for a chat, but was not intrusive at all. It's been a while since we've had perfect service with great food!

I have been staying at Billini Hotel several times in the past 5 years. The location simply is perfect and the ambiance modern combined with true historical architectural elements. You can ‘feel’ the Zona Colonial - without missing modern amenities. Besides a stunning rooftop bar and pool, they feature a restaurant and a romantic cafe, next to a historic Catholic Church from the 16th century. It is great to see that Billini Hotel not only kept their standards but improved - the new F&B manager and Chef de cuisine not only changed the menu and wine list but also retrained the staff. All in all a very pleasant experience, to be repeated!
