Lifestyle property in Dominican Republic, located in the center of La Ciudad Primada de América, the Colonial City of Santo Domingo. An area known for its history, monuments, shopping, restaurants and nightlife. The hotel with minimalist design features 93 guestrooms is divided in two historical buildings interconnected at the lobby level and the Roof Top. The 10.000 square feet terrace on the top of the building offers an incredible view of the surrounding Colonial City, Faro a Colón and the Juan Bosch bridge that connects the city to the Zona Oriental (Eastern City). Our Cuisine is based on local ingredients, and a fancy but down-to-earth cocktail bar. As a lifestyle Hotel, GRAN HOTEL EUROPA is rooted in the mentality that authentic local experiences are the key to successful travel experiences, both in business and leisure. Upon entering the hotel, you are welcomed by a magnificent story lobby with a mezzanine overlooking the guest area, whose jungle feeling is the main attraction. The colors and the reminders to the Monstera leaves can be found all throughout the hotel, not only as art on display but also within wallcoverings, furnishings and fabrics. The Check In experience is an introduction to the Grand Hotel Europa new style created from the backdrop, reception desks, the scent that distinguishes our hotel to the hospitality and genuine service that characterizes our Dominican people. The design of Gran Hotel Europa highlights the local culture using a mix of rustic and modern materials, and local fabrics to create memorable experiences with a commitment to authenticity, sophistication, mastery and innovation. Our corridors, main lobby and other areas are brought to life with original paintings by Wander Matos who shows the most deep-rooted essence of the Dominican culture.

My recent experience at the Gran Hotel Europa in Santo Domingo was absolutely memorable. From the moment I walked through its doors, I have been impressed by the exceptional level of service, the comfort of the rooms and the delectable breakfast experience. This is why I highly recommend this establishment.

Exceptional Service:

The strong point of this hotel is undoubtedly its impeccable service. The staff is not only professional but also friendly, and they did their best to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. Their attention to detail is exemplary, whether responding to special requests, giving advice on local attractions or ensuring every guest need is met. This is true five-star service.

Comfortable and Elegant Rooms:

The rooms at the Gran Hotel Europa are havens of comfort. They are spacious, nicely decorated, and have cozy beds that guarantee a great night's sleep. I loved the attention paid to the cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms, which helped create an atmosphere of total relaxation. Plus, the view of the city from my room was breathtaking.

Gourmet Breakfast:

Breakfast at the Gran Hotel Europa is an experience not to be missed. The buffet is varied, with a range of hot and cold dishes, fresh fruit, delicious pastries and a la carte breakfast options. The quality of the ingredients is exceptional, and the restaurant service is fast and attentive. It's a great way to start the day.

In short, the Gran Hotel Europa is a rare pearl in Santo Domingo. Whether you are traveling for business or pleasure, this hotel offers you first-rate service, comfortable rooms and a delicious breakfast. My stay here was simply perfect, and I plan to return in the future. Thank you to the entire team at the Gran Hotel Europa for their exceptional hospitality.

The hotel has done a total facelift. It looks and is spotless with large bedrooms and gray showers and air on. The staff are very nice and the breakfast was great. This is the hotel I’ll stay at again and again. The location is awesome too and there is onsite parking available but street parking is free and nearby.

A relatively new and newly renovated hotel in the Santo Domingo Colonial Zone, easy access to the airport highway (ride to SDQ about $25 with Uber), walking distance to the San Juan (Caribe) ferry terminal (if you travel light). 3 minute walk to Plaza Colon, everything else worth seeing (and there's a lot) in this very impressive historic zone is within walking distance (everywhere you look, renovations, roads and sidewalks updated, new cool places, etc, etc, this part of town gets better on every visit.) Breakfast is served on the rooftop terrace over the older part of the complex, the much newer add-on building has a roof top bar open sometime late afternoon/evening. I stayed in the older part (the rooms with balconies), I understand that the rooms in the newer part (no balconies) may be a bit more comfortable, i.e., spacious, consider that if you are sharing the room with one or two others. Its all connected, including the roof tops, it might as well be the same building once your inside. Pleasant and efficient service, no AC or water issues. Breakfast offering is limited and nothing is really tasty, so if breakfast is a deal breaker, consider other options or eat out. There are good food choices in every direction. Same for nightlife, a lot to do and see all within a safe walking distance. I'm booking here again.

I’ve been to hospitals cozier than this place. It takes forever to check in. Sterile rooms. Yes, they are renovated yet they are still sterile and it looks like you’re in a hospital with no windows. Not even in the bathroom. Cheap plastic plants in the lobby with an awful mint fragrance and emerald green splashed randomly, it was more like green eye sores everywhere. The worst- AC is so complicated to adjust. It took 2 people at front desk to finally program it the right way. Too complicated for a hotel room and I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels around the world and worked at many hotels in the U.S. Never seen anything this complicated. Took hours to cool. I was told I was going to pay $83 and change and then they charged $92 and change. I made sure to take pictures of the mini bar before I left and told them to check because I had not taken anything out. I only stayed for less than 10 hours on my last night & brought my own water. I checked out and got a receipt for $83. 5 days later I see a charge of $92. Unacceptable, did an employee take anything from minibar and then charge me because I wouldn’t notice? Breakfast was also included in the $83. It was less than mediocre. No covid precautions taken in breakfast area. I took a spoonful of the very dry plantains and just left everything. I’ve seen better silverware at a school cafeteria. The only good thing was the coffee. I will never stay there again and I go monthly to that area. I understand that you get what you pay for but I’ve stayed at hotels in the same price range in the same area and the hotels had charm, better quality and service.

After a sleepless night, there were drafts where the corridor light came in. The air conditioning could not be regulated. With breakfast included they told us that espresso coffee had to be paid for but they couldn't tell us the cost. The only positive note is the terrace where it is accessible at night (since I didn't sleep)

We stayed 4 nights and we were really satisfied with everything in general. Its location is perfect, in the colonial area, and on its terrace you can enjoy dinners and performances as well as the buffet breakfast, which is very correct - perhaps the juices should be improved. We really liked the rooms, sufficient and comfortable to rest, both the modern ones and the colonial style ones. But the best thing about the hotel is all its staff, from the moment you arrive at the reception they make you feel very comfortable - I want to make special mention of the lady who helped us, Ashley (sorry if the name is not spelled correctly), always attentive to our needs. help us and make things easy for us, and the same with the terrace staff, all of them exceeded our expectations of good treatment and kindness. A hotel without a doubt highly recommended for visiting Santo Domingo.

Prior to booking this hotel I felt a little skeptical after reading the reviews. I decided to book a room with a balcony because I didn't like the idea of getting a room without windows or a very small one. Ended up with a corner room which has two balconies.
The room was comfortable and spacious. The area is a little noisy but the A/C was able to block some the traffic noise.
I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel itself and have no issues with returning. The service was excellent. No problems with check-in/check-out. The breakfast was excellent and has a wide variety of food. Easy walk to the Colonial Zone, restaurants and shopping. It was nice relaxing in the evenings on the roof top bar. Nice menu choices. I will definitely stay at this hotel on my next visit to Santo Domingo.

Room 216 has no windows :S there is no hot water.
I recommend that you request a room with windows as soon as you check in. Breakfast is very simple but ends very early (10:30 am)
The service is friendly.
The best thing about the hotel is its excellent location. Close to everything there is to know in Santo Domingo

Comfortable hotel in the colonial area of Santo Domingo, close to restaurants and places of interest. Facilities in good condition, even those in the old building. Some bedrooms do not have windows, so you can request one with a view. Good buffet breakfast at no cost.

Yes, I was also worry about safety but there were many tourists walking around during the day time on their own. And I noticed a lot of foreigners live in the colonial site areas. At night we took UBERS to our destinations that were at a distance from colonial site.
