My wife and I stayed at the Sheraton Santo Domingo 26 Dec through 2 Jan and were totally satisfied. We had breakfast included with our stay, which I highly recommend. We spent a lot of time traveling the south coast to see if that was a preferred location to live, looking at infrastructure and daily living issues like shopping. This often had us back at the hotel too tired to go out to eat. Between the dinning room, pool and room service menus, we had a variety of delicious dishes to choose from. We did go out to eat to a couple of very nice restaurants, but these restaurants were no better than the Sheraton while almost twice the price and service at the Sheraton was prompt, gracious and accommodating to my wife's dairy allergy.
Some minor nusanses- We were on floor 3 and one night the casino next door was a little loud. The ice machine on our floor was out of service. Wash clothes were not always replaced. However, the room was always well cleaned and ice and wash cloths provided upon request.
We had been in Panama for a couple of months prior to our trip to the DR. Panama is OK, but the people are reserved and rarely have customer service training. The people in the DR on the other hand go out of their way to make you happy. They actually encourage relationships while providing you service.
Specifically, Noel, the breakfast manager was truly a joy to be around. He made it his priority to ensure my wife was well taken care of. He gave us the low down on places and things to do and always had time to talk with us in his busy schedule. We consider Noel a friend.
Our room was taken care of one day by Reuel Jimenez. What a great kid. We are not fussy, central and south America has conditioned us to that, but Reuel would have none of that. When we returned to our room, everything was perfect and flowers were on the pillows, night stands, bathroom and extra bottles of water. He later checked in with us to be sure nothing was overlooked.
Valet parking was free and always prompt and professional.
Front desk met every request except the ice machine never got fixed, but after mentioning it was not working, I did notice maintenance working on it the next day.
To wrap up, I will be booking my next stay in Santo Domingo at the Sheraton. They treated us like dignitaries. Who ever is in charge of operations, is doing a fantastic job.

The staff here was truly the kindest and most accommodating I’ve encountered anywhere. Everyone was so attentive especially Nelson and Argendy who offered us their support as staff in the Sheraton Club Lounge. They welcomed us with wine everyday, supplied us with snacks, and most of all, treated us like friends. The breakfast was also great. We stayed during the pandemic and felt truly looked after. All of the staff wore masks constantly and we were supplied with masks and sanitizer when we arrived and could request more as needed. All meals were served wrapped and covered and all surfaces were sanitized right before and after everyone’s use. Coming from the US, I was super impressed with the level of attention everyone paid to this, even more so than back home. Thank you for such a warm welcome and great stay!

I just got back home from 5 nights and 6 days in Santo Domingo and I stayed at the Sheraton Santo Domingo. My first encounter with the hotel staff was when I checked in at the front desk. I was fortunate to have Fausto as my first contact with the service at this Sheraton. He set the tone for the rest of my stay with his professionalism, friendliness and competence. All of the staff I subsequently interacted with were wonderful, from sweet Luz who cleaned my room and left rose petals, to Ramón in the dining room who had hot tea waiting for me at my table each morning to many others who greet you with a smile each time they see you. But special thanks go to Fausto. Thank you for your kindness and sincerity.

Front desk staff were friendly and accommodating and practiced social distance and wore mask.
They explained that breakfast was available in the main dining room instead of the club floor as in the past.
The restaurant staff was also very accommodating. The food is wrapped in Saranwrap and adequate under the current conditions.
My only complaint was when I returned to my room to try and rest before my flight the cleaning staff were sustaining an animated conversation for approximately 10 minutes in the hallway...This was very annoying as I was trying to relax.
I really like the hotel and staff they are quick to accommodate and always helpful.

The hotel was really nice, friendly staff, responsible, and knowledgeable. However, the hotel should ensure that businesses that provide services are up to par. I went to the salon in the hotel and it was not welcoming nor provided a good experience. It has been by far the worse mani and pedi I’ve done and even though the hotel is not responsible they should make sure the services on their location offer good customer service, specially since they are charging regular tourists prices. The staff was not friendly and were late. I was there Sunday and my hands look like this on Monday 😞 Amadeus is the name of the salon.

Overall a nice property. Rooms are small but clean. However, in one of my rooms there was hair in the fridge and bathtub; housekeeping responded and cleaned it rite away. I usually don't post negative reviews; but the customer service provided by front desk was pathetic. There is only one chance to make a good first impression.

I arrived at the front desk and checked in. I have to say, it was one of the worst check in experience. Not a single member of the front desk smiled. I know we wear masks, but you can always tell by a person's attitude towards you. The two representatives who helped my friend and I were very indifferent. Infact, the representative helping me rolled his eyes at me (two of my friends noticed). None of the front desk representatives properly greeted any of my guests. I was not acknowledged for being a loyal marriott member. A "hello", "thank you", "you're welcome" would have gone a long way to be honest. I kindly asked to find out what other rooms they have, in order to upgrade my room to one with a view. I was not properly informed or educated about the room types. The representative abruptly told me that there is a $99+ taxes charge if I want anything other than my room.
I think I should stick to IHG hotels (all properties I've been to are very courteous).
There were 3 representatives at the front desk, and 1 individual in the lobby. Did not get a single welcoming sentiment from any one of them. The rudeness and apathy of the staff is not acceptable towards any guests. Specially given the current circumstances, I'd expect hotel staff to be understanding, welcoming and more accommodating.
From the attitude of the front desk, unfortunately, I thought the locals were probably just rude and disrespectful. However, housekeeping and the Marriott in-app chat have been very prompt and kind. They attend to requests kindly. The bellhop was very friendly and accommodating. Thanks to the service they provided I corrected my opinion. Housekeeping and bellhop's kindness are the only reasons I am assigning 3 stars. But if the hotel manager him/herself do not respect guests, it is very disappointing. I am looking forward to leaving Santo Domingo and hope to enjoy my stay in Punta Cana and hopefully have a great experience overall in Dominican Republic :)

Sheraton Santo Domingo is close to the colonial zone which makes it easy for touring. We stayed at this hotel for my daughter’s wedding. I had multiple rooms booked both on points and for cash and for a combination of the two. They were for different time periods and room levels. . I upgraded rooms to the club level and in general my account was a little complicated. Both Ivan and Jineska at the desk were helpful and efficient when dealing with getting us checked in and checked out. We were delighted to receive an upgrade to a full suite since that is where the bride got ready and it provided plenty of room. The suites overlooked the pool and ocean and were spacious and well equipped. Housekeeping did a great job and the suite was always cleaned and restocked. In the club, the food was good and plentiful. For the afternoon happy hour the appetizers and drinks were taken care of efficiently by Nelson and the others. We were a large group but they helped get us situated in the club area. We had breakfast in the dining room, which was included in the club access. The omelet station and mimosa bar were great, as was the rest of the breakfast buffet. Everyone was kind and pleasant to deal with at all times. We truly felt welcomed and they helped make the wedding weekend special. We would go back there on another visit to Santo Domingo.

Located facing the beautiful Caribbean this hotel feels like a resort hotel but is located in Santo Domingo. We stayed one night because our flight landed quite late and we didn’t want to arrive at our resort at 2 am. We found the hotel quite adequate and service very friendly throughout. Rooms are small but comfortable (although walls are not soundproofed and we did hear some noise from the adjoining room and hallway). Breakfast buffet was very generous in the Morgan’s the hotel had a nice pool to relax at. We thought we might take a quick walk in the colonial center which the concierge said was only about 10 minutes away. Turned out it was much further so we turned back and walked along the seaside malecon which is quite nice except you ddI have to make a dash across heavy traffic.

The pool service and food is outstanding. The pool team is attentive, professional and very accommodating. We only eat at the pool area because of the exceptional service. They are the reason why we return to the Sheraton and spend thousands of US dollars at least four times per year. We do this because they make us feel like family. The pool team must have a good supervisor which means that Sheraton management has selected an outstanding pool leader.

First, I have to say my very first impression was a little bit bad but after following up with the right people in the hotel I was able to solve everything and clarify.
It is my first time in a Sheraton but I practically live in a hotel room during the whole year and I just have to say, nice people needs to be recognize.

Diana Tosato: I will remember this person name for the rest of my life, it is the only person I've met with the skill of unconsciously slow down everything and turn it into an opportunity, I'm sure this person's value is way higher than is being compensated for. I appreciate everything this person did in order to provide an extraordinary experience at the hotel and YES, I'll reserve back at some point whenever I'm back.

Joseimy Jose: Very understandable person, somebody that is giving more than 100% in order to provide You a really good service, open to everything You say and educated enough to escalate and follow up whatever is out of Her hands making it an above and beyond service.

Gary Noel: excellent service and dedication any concern or question was perfectly answered, there is nothing like the knowledge about the service You provide, people look at You like a pro indeed.

I have no tested any food but I've heard really good comments about it, so, I'm trying today.

TIPS:

They serve moderate quality long island in the poolside bar, You can try it.
Mobile key is better the whole time so You don't worry about forgetting Your key.
Elevator is really good in terms of safety and it is quicker than majority of hotels.
The three bottles of water just to the side of the TV are gifts for You.
If You're too high (195 above (6'5 above)) shower will be kind of uncomfortable since ceiling is kind of low.
Try to get ocean view.
Gym is never overpopulated, something I liked.
Be aware every time You walk in with somebody base on hotel experience or safety purposes, You'll be asked for that person ID and sign and write down room service since it will be Your responsibility, this is a good option for some people, it can be bad for some other people and probably don't like it.
I personally don't think this premise policy should be executed, guests should be checked for the quantity of people room is reserved, if is for 2 then guest can be with somebody else not ID requirement because I think that's a violation to privacy but I also can say this is implemented base on some bad past experience in the hotel, I also believe something else could be implemented.

Is the swimming pool heated in December? if not, why not since the water would be extremely cold.

Dear Guest, The access to the Sheraton Club where the butler service is included has a Sheraton Club lounge were courtesy our d deouvres are served from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, the food can not be taken to the guestroom.
