Perfect choice for us for three days in Santo Domingo. Just outside the very busy areas but easy access and felt very safe. Clean, tidy and comfortable room. Stunning breakfast and delightful staff. Loved the coffee machine in the room! Highly recommend.

Two years ago we made our first visit to the Dominican Republic and stayed at Villa Colonial. Everything was perfect - lovely building, peaceful atmosphere, memorable breakfast, attentive and charming service (see my review March 2022). So when we returned this year there was nowhere else we wanted to stay. We weren’t disappointed. From the warm greeting from the manager, Ramon, and his staff, to our room with its tiled courtyard it was everything we remembered. Although Santo Domingo was buzzing outside, inside Villa Colonial all was quiet. We slept well and woke to the chinking of crockery as the lovely ladies made our breakfast. It felt like home. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Hotel has a nice cozy atmosphere and amazing old spanish architectural influence. All the staff was friendly and accomodating (Ramon, Jordan and all the ladies at breakfast). Room was super clean and comfortable with nespresso machine, hot water kettle, safe and mini-fridge. For being in the middle of town it felt like a quiet and private oasis.

Comfort Charm and History; This boutique hotel in the heart of Santo Domingo is sure to leave a lasting impression! Beautiful Space The rooms at Hotel Villa Colonial are not only beautifully decorated but also very comfortable and clean, providing a serene retreat after a day of exploring the rich history and culture of the surrounding area. The tasteful décor and the attention to detail in the room amenities was evident, offering everything you might need for a relaxing stay. The artwork and decor also added a unique character to the space. Exceptional Breakfast One of the highlights of our stay was the exceptional breakfast that was included with our reservation. The spread featured a delectable array of options, with fresh-squeezed juices that added a burst of tropical flavor to the morning. The handmade jams crafted with local ingredients, were a delightful touch that showcased the best of the region's flavors. (The delicious French Toast is a must!!!!!!!!!) Incredible Staff The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, ensuring that our stay was as enjoyable as possible. (Thank you Ramon for your hospitality!) Their genuine friendliness and willingness to assist with any request added a personal touch that made us feel truly welcome. Villa Colonial is a gem that offers a perfect blend of comfort, charm, and hospitality. We wholeheartedly recommend Hotel Villa Colonial and look forward to returning to one of the Dominican Republic‘s most historic locations.…

As its name says, this is an old colonial villa on one of the more relaxed streets in Zona Colonial, just two blocks from the pedestrian vein of the Old Town. A lively “colmado” on the street corner, and front doors always locked for security. A two-storied old building with a patio filled with lush greenery and a little dip pool that is cleaned regularly. The villa is full of colonial charm, houses just a dozen rooms that are basic but very well maintained and impeccably clean. What makes this hotel special is the staff and the personal attention they are willing to give you. Ramón, the manager, who is fluent in French, Spanish and English at least, knows the town and the country inside out and is generous with sharing tips about events, sights, restaurants and domestic travel destinations. Any problem is piece of cake in his hands. On top of that, he is personally preparing the breakfast for the nicely modest number of hotel guests. And the breakfasts are to die for! I stayed in this hotel for 10 nights, and every morning I got a different, delicious à la carte breakfast with mouthwatering fruits, excellent coffee, fresh juice and chilled water plus eggs made to your taste – and you can’t even imagine they could taste so good! – plus a dessert (the banana flambé in rum was my favorite, already for the sight of preparing it!). As I was a long-staying guest, they even made a typical Dominican breakfast for me once, outside the menu. I could stay in this hotel again just for the breakfasts and the big smiles the boys and ladies in this hotel give you every day. These people stole my heart and made my stay in Santo Domingo so special. A big thank you to the Villa Colonial team, and to Jordan for the kindest smile!…

I've loved my stay at the Hotel Villa Colonial. The service was 5 stars with attention to detail from Ramon who welcomed us so well and all the rest of his staff. When we arrived, we were greeted with an excellent limonade and discovered a very well appointed hotel with great design, lounge music, wonderful smells throughout the patio, a charming pool, and lush vegetation. This boutique hotel has everything that you need with a comfortable, and quiet, bedroom with all the nice amenities. The bed is very comfortable as well. What I looked forward to each morning was the breakfast which was absolutely delicious with fresh ingredients, including fresh fruits, juices, wonderful egg selections and fresh avocado. The coffee was divine as well. Then I loved going to the small pool which was perfect to relax. The location of the hotel is in the "zona colonial", the old town of the city, which is very quaint. From the hotel you can walk to all the interesting sites and wonderful restaurants. Ramon knows everything about his country and can give recommendations of places to eat and to see. He is the nicest person and finds solutions for everything! I loved my stay there for a few days and would absolutely recommend it. The decor is amazing, the comfort is here, the breakfast is delicious and the service is great. You can't ask for anything else. I will stay here each time I come to Santo Domingo. You won't regret it. And if you like dogs, you'll be in love with Masha who will give you some love each time you come back to the hotel! It was a truly a wonderful experience and Ramon is excellent at customer service!…
