Detailed Reviews
We enjoyed our time (two nights) at BijBlauw very much. We were welcomed very friendly already, the reception staff was very warm hearted and always ready to help with advice. The view from the restaurant towards the ocean is extremly beautiful, and the location is very close to downtown, surrounded by a great cocktail Bar (Ochenta) and lots of good restaurants.
The only little downside was the pool, which - honestly - doesn't really deserve its name. For the whole hotel there are only to two sun loungers and the very small pool, lies directly next to the tables of the restaurant. Additionally our room was a little bit small (had to open the suitcases in the bathroom), admittedly, that might have been due to the room category.
OVerall I'd definitely recommend the hotel. If you go, you should make sure to get the breakfast of the house, which was amazing!

Bijblauw is ideally situated in the Petermaai district. It’s a ten minute stroll to get to the downtown Punda area. Our absolute preference was to be in this area with a great selection of bars and restaurants.
The hotel is charming and chic with individual rooms as far removed from an international chain as you could get. We had the Vitamin Sea room which had a huge bathroom, lovely terrace overlooking the sea, and a supremely comfortable bed. AC and fan added to the comfort. Due to misinformation we were not made aware that breakfast could be taken on our terrace until a few nights in all you had to do was make your request via what’s app. This was the hotels’ way of communicating with the reception in the absence of in room phones. Quite unique! We tried this once but decided we actually preferred to take breakfast downstairs in the restaurant right by the sea.
A small misunderstanding was dealt with directly by the owner and manager with grace and generosity.
Ruud the owner and Thyrza the manager head up the team there to ensure you have the best time possible at the hotel.
You can also take a bit of BijBlauw home with you from their concept store.
Looking forward to seeing their expansion plans to extend into the next building.
Hopefully we will get back there one day.

This was our first trip to Curacao and found the BijBlauw on Expedia. We had a great experience staying at BijBlauw. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel is a beautiful boutique hotel, the room was charming and the bed was extremely comfortable. The restaurant overlooks the water and is a great place to have breakfast, dinner or just drinks (we went several times). No matter how busy they were, the staff was always attentive and willing to take the time to talk with us. Lastly, the location of this hotel in the Peitermaai district was great. Everything was within walking distance and we found some charming places to have a drink and some food. Overall, I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at the BijBlauw. If we return to Curacao, we will definitely stay here again.

This hotel is just so perfect. The culture vibe in this part of the city, being able to walk to multiple restaurants in the evenings and walk back to the hotel was fantastic. There was one night, the ochenta bar next door had a party and it was extremely loud. I had a white noise app on my phone so was able to sleep through it. I thought I had paid for the breakfast ahead of time. However, it wasnt billed until the end. Had that been made clear I wouldnt have gotten it each day. They dont start serving until 8 am. Which is extremely hard when many tours start then or 9 am. You dont have time to eat and the service at all restaurants here isnt like america. I enjoyed the slow pace and experience of meals, but I wouldnt book breakfast here. They have a different menu for hotel guests. They were nice enough to package my stuff to go each morning, but it still took 30 min from start to getting the food. I would have preferred to be told the charges wouldnt apply until the end or just look at the regular menu and eat there when you dont have to rush off each morning because every morning we had something by 9 am and had to drive 20 minutes at least. Thats the only thing I would have liked to know before hand so im sharing it here. I would 100 book this place again due to the location, and people and comfort. The house keeping was top notch. Overall extremely happy. The need to have breakfast options available sooner for hotel guests or a form to fill out the night before so they have it quicker in the mornings for the added price you pay per meal. We found ourselves not enjoying the morning food and had we known it wasnt charged until the end, we would have skipped it and saved some money. The bed was comfortable, they could use a spare blanket in the room though for more warmth once you turn your ac and fan on. It was just a sheet basically to sleep. Maybe this is custom for aruba and curacao/other countries to sleep with just a top sheet. So a spare blanket in the rooms would be great. The front desk workers were fantastic and so kind. I would recommend this place for sure.

Amazing level of service! We stayed in the two-bedroom yellow suite and absolutely loved it. Our only regret was having to leave. The rooms are charming and the terrace is heavenly. All of the staff were so wonderful and conscientious, paying attention to even the littlest details. Our family of 4 will definitely stay there again.

I've seen my share of hotels and boutique hotels but I am truly astonished that Bijblauw literally ticks all the boxes you desire of a place to spend your holiday. The rooms are stylish, the bed is comfortable, everything is clean, it's quiet, the restaurant is without a doubt one of the best on the island, the pool is intimate and relaxing, there's a great shop with a unique array of furniture and accessories and something that was seriously outstanding was the service. I am not exaggerating if I say that I've never encountered such a combination of kindness and capability. No question was too much or bothersome to them, they even helped me settle a situation with a car rental agency and even paid part of the cost as a gesture of good will. I was extremely surprised by the combination of all these factors. Hats off to an outstanding hotel! If you're wondering why to visit Curacao, staying at BijBlauw would already be a single reason to do so.

The Bijblauw is a boutique hotel located in a very central area. It is close to many restaurants and a short walk to the Queen Anne Bridge and the center of town. We stayed in a deluxe room which was nice with a large balcony. The bathroom was huge. The shower could use more pressure and a better design to contain the water. However, given the heat it dried up rather quickly. The breakfast was very good. Staff friendly and helpful. There is no beach access and the pool is very small and right next to the restaurant. If you have a car then getting to the beach is easy. Overall we had a good experience for a boutique hotel.

We had a wonderful 2-night stay at this hotel. The hotel was well located within walking distance to many restaurants and bars.
We booked the Deluxe Double Room with the City View - a spacious room on the 2nd floor with a large balcony overlooking the city. The room was beautifully decorated with chic designs. I wish the soundproofing would be better with blackout drapes, as the window shutters didn't work well.
We had lunch during our first day here, and the dishes were delicious (steak tartare and poke bowl). We saw many people having dinner there, but honestly, with so many great options nearby (Sal and Komi), we wanted to try elsewhere.
The view from the restraint was gorgeous. We went snorkeling on our last day at the hotel, and it was a paradise underwater.
Street parking was plenty right outside the hotel.

First thing we did when we got to Curaçao was to come at BijBlauw, this cool place in Willemstad. I was simply amazed by the cool design combined with the old wood pieces all over our apartment. They have also a lot of straw baskets and linen details that give you that cozy island vibe. My favorite place from the hotel was the bar/restaurant area, especially in the morning during breakfast. It was such a delight to start my day there with a nice view to the blue ocean. The table setting looked so dreamy and each of their breakfast options were so incredibly delicious. I’ve tried them all and my favorite was the Açai bowl.
I also liked the view from our apartment as it had the most colorful view in the city center. So, as I have told you Curaçao is a must see island while in the Caribbbean and if you are looking for a dreamy place to stay, I most definitely suggest you the amazing boutique hotel, BijBlauw [pronounced beiblau] :P

I'll apologize for taking so long to write this review but I need to do it. We absolutely loved our trip to Curacao and especially our stay at the BijBlauw Hotel. The staff was fantastic and the rooms have so much character. I told Ed that the date of our next trip back to Curacao would depend entirely on the availability of the Seaside Rendezvous room ! The fabulous food and drink always served with a smile while you enjoy the ocean views. The location is great , lots of attractions within walking distance and probably the friendliest island we've ever been to .
Thanks to Titia , Ruud , Ed and all the staff for making our stay so memorable , we're coming back either late November or January as soon as we figure out our fall work schedules .
Thanks again Randy and Leisa from Canada .

Same voltage and same plug type as in Canada.
Hi Lara,
Most rooms are provided with a sitting area with chairs, also beach towels are provided. You can take the bus from the hotel to various destinations in curacao. Yet we recommend to rent a car, this has to do with safety and security.
Sunny regards,
Anne | BijBlauw
It's relatively close to nightlife but is simple lodging. I believe there are better choices to select that are more contemporary, especially in light of your 30th birthday celebration,
It is really easy to park int he area around. and yes. the hotel is perfect for a birthday...there are lots of lovely bars and restos very close...and the restaurant at the hotel is perfect. Gorgeous outdoor setting with waved crashing, great service and wonderful food.
Getting a car is very easy...and very easy to park. There are fantastic beaches 1/2 an hour away on the west side--well worth the excursion a few times at least if you are there for a week.
