Pietermaai District, once the area of the Curacao well-to-do, has untaken a huge make-over after a long period of neglect and abatement. However, the last 2 years Pietermaai District is working hard to be the new 'Quartier Latin' of Curacao. The colorful Pietermaai Apartments are located in the historical neighborhood of Pietermaai District in Willemstad. The apartments are divided from the sea by a narrow road. The center of Willemstad is only 500 meters away. Just like the neighborhoods Punda, Otrabanda, several clubs, shops, restaurants and cinema's. The well-known Cabana Beach is 4 km. Away.

Nice location but it’s hard to sleep. Too much light, too much noise from the bar in front and there’s dog next to the pool who barked non-stop. The hotel has no service, no restaurant no bars no activities inside, nothing. There’s 2 pool which one of them looks like a fountain for pigeon and the other one is just ok. There’s nothing to protect the mosquitos to enter the room. The room are dark with minimum light inside. P.S the picture below which you can see the light from the window it’s not ours is the light from the lobby. I will not recommend this hotel.

Very nice location within the historic part of Pietermaai with many restaurants and bars close by. As stated by some other guests, the rooms don't have real windows but only shutters - and there aren't even mosquito nets available to cover the beds. Other hotels (with the same "historic building preservation" requirements are much better equipped). It also means that the Aircondition is wasting a lot of its capability (and energy consumption) into nothingness. The pool area is quite small, but usually this isn't a real issue as most guests are out and about throughout the day (during my 2 week stay there was only one time where I couldn't catch a free chair). While the rooms look quite nice, you have to be very picky when it comes to location: Either you have a quiet one (facing only the inside garden area) or you can end up with one of many that is next to the neighbouring bar and which has one side facing the alley (with drunken strangers hammering or urinating at your door). Also, the size of your terrace / balcony varies extremely depending of the room location (even in the same category). As stated in the headline: Select your room carefully ;-)

Hi Marius, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay! We are very pleased that you have enjoyed the neighbourhood. We are sorry to hear that you experienced the layout of the property as inconvenient. We have chosen to keep the property as to how they started with the hotel and are currently busy with creating new innovative ideas for the shutters/windows to remain sustainable. Of course, we are willing to help every guest and accommodate all their wishes, upon availability. In case the room is not according to the expectations, please inform the staff at the front desk in order for us to search for other possibilities. We hope you had a lovely time on the island and saw some beautiful hotspots! Thank you for staying with us, Marius. Kind regards, Team Pietermaai Boutique Hotel

Very quaint hotel, friendly staff and clean. Also great location! However it is noisy, we went to Curacao to relax for the weekend however we found out that the hotel was right in the middle of a blues festival. We joined the festival the first day as we couldn't sleep but the festival was 2 days. Would have been nice to have been informed about the event. Will not do this again.

I was very pleased with this apartment. The location, the interior of the apartment, the personel, the free breakfast, the garden and swimming pool were A+. The only fault was a slight odour of mildew in the washroom.

This place was cute and clean. It was located in the heart of atmospheric Pietermaai district - don’t miss it! Along with another couple, we arrived after 9 pm so the reception was closed and we had to go on a bit of a scavenger hunt to find out keys and room. But once inside, it was a very enjoyable stay :-)
