Beautiful award winning Eco Resort, with tropical villas and apartments, surrounded by nature, no cars (secured parking lot at the entrance) to completely relax and enjoy the outside life. It's only a 5 minute walk to the Jan Thiel Beach, where you can find plenty of nice beach clubs, bars and restaurants, a casino, supermarket and gym. We offer 1 and 2 bedroom apartments, and 3 and 4 bedroom villas, that can accommodate up to 8 people. The resort has 2 (eco) pool areas with 4 pools, one of them is a paddling pool, always enough free sun beds and shadow, 2 outdoor sun roofed restaurants, 2 small playgrounds for kids and offers free entrance for the beach.

We like holidays off the beaten track, but for a short trip to the sun, we chose Morena Resort. It was a good choice. If you like to stay in a convenient location, near a tourist beach, but are not keen on lots of entertainment and noise, this is a good choice. Lots of green garden around, appartment adequate, nice service. Location is good if you don't mind an artificial beach and few restaurants. Rent a car to drive around the island, which is fairly small but plan sufficient time if you want to visit the other side of the island with a little more nature.

I was with a group- this was the chosen accommodation. I do not know the details/logistics of the booking. I just showed up and slept here :D.
We were greeted after arriving late (7pm) with delicious natural kiwi strawberry popsicles as we waited to check in. The place was very clean and had all that you needed. We stayed in the apartments so were able to stock the fridge and cook as needed. This came in very handy. The beds were small twins, but comfortable. The rooms had a patio that could seat many and had a hammock. The pools were lovely. I never ate at the restaurants so cannot comment on that.

The only donwside was the showers. Just be alerted- no hot water for shower, but plenty in sinks. You had to keep pushing the water on for the water to come out/stay on.

Lovely 4 night stay here.

We had a nice and quiet weekend stay at Morena resort. We chose this location because it's an eco resort. We rented two adjoined cabins for a group of 8 people. The cabins have a interconnecting doors between the houses and the porches. By keeping the doors open we had one big cabin. Our cabin was very closed to both pools and the restaurants. The personnel at thea resort is very friendly and helpful. Because of Covid measures they were at a minimum, but did they're ultimate best to make sure guests are OK. A specially the restaurant team who went out of their way to give a great service. Shout out to Roxy and Lauren! The only down side are the house cats. However if you indicate that you rather not have them near you, the personnel will do their best to keep them away. Another thing that takes getting used to is the shower. Because of the eco concept there is a timer on the shower. So if you like peace, quiet and good service, choose Morena Eco Resort. It's ideal for a staycation too.

Stayed here for a good week of relaxing and enjoying the sun and sights in the Carribean.
Staff was friendly on all parts during the entire week.
Checkin went swift and fast.
Had a very nice room on the first floor of the building with the Breeze apartments.
The apartment was of a very good size. Nice living area with full equiped kitchen, good size bedroom and nice bathroom. The outdoor deck was really lovely!
The buildings themselfs are situated in a nice and good maintained area with lots of Trees and flowers.
2 pools and 2 restaurants on site.
Had some good dinners here and lunches at the pool were also good.
Renting a car also went swift and good, because if you want to see a bit more of the island of Curacao you will need your own ride.

Jan Thiel Beach a little walk (about 10minutes) away with also some very nice bars and restaurants. there you can also find a supermarket.

A great place to have a relaxing vacation!

What a great resort! We went together with our 2 year old and 2 month old. I loved the salt water pool for kids. And all the lounge chairs around it. Also the fact that there are no cars on the property is such a relief our daughter was running around without us worrying. Also our accommodation was great! We loved the patio and the way it was like an extension of your room.
Definitely a place to go back to

Thought this was eco resort as in “ecotourism”. The eco means “economy”.
The bed is like a camping mattress, the windowless bedroom (which is the only space with a/c) becomes a heat dome during power outages. (Other resorts had reliable power generators.) Think about sleeping in a windowless room when the nighttime temp is around 27* Celsius and the a/c doesn’t work due to power outage. Awful.
The towels are no bigger than hand towels. Showers often cold due to solar water heat.
The resort sprayed pesticides twice in our week there - nothing about this resort is ecological but it is economy.
The restaurant was ok and the pools are nice but one closed for repairs - blasting out the concrete bottom while we were there which was only advised a day in advance and very noisy and made the remaining pool too crowded.
Look at other options. Or be aware.

Dear guest, We are sorry to hear about your experience which didn't comply with your expectations. You stayed in a period in which the local utility company had quite a lot of outages that effected the whole island. Fortunately this is not common, but I can imagine it had its impact on your stay. Since we are an eco resort and the power outages are so little, we have chosen not to purchase a generator. We treat against pests a minimum as necessary, which is about every 2 months, which is essential to prevent cockroaches and other pests. Showers are being heated electrical during the nightly hours when there is no sun, during the day there is plenty of sun, which ensures that there is always warm water. So I assume this was caused by some other (technical) problem? If you would like to discuss your points in more detail, I invite you to contact us. Morena Resort

Morena resort is still a high valuable place to stay. In comparison to previous years however the quality is somehow dropping. At start several repairs were needed. The pool is not cleaned daily frequently enough, water is from time to time a bit foggy. But what is more disturbing is the maintenance of the garden. They cut at early start of flowering all flowers and buds, and by that taking away the food for bees. Bee killing will have a serious impact on nature and human food production. Reasons for cutting them so early it that it gives rubbish. Well this seems to me a non-argument. Human mankind should show more responsibility for nature and wildlife… already soooooo much destroyed also @ Curacao

Dear Olleke, Thanks for taking the time to write a review, we are glad to read you describe us a a high valuable place to stay! However I can refute your point about the pruning of the flowers; As Curaçao is a tropical island with no seasons, certain plant species, such as Bougainvillea and Nerium oleander, bloom all year round. When these types of plants are pruned, there are indeed flowers on them. Elders in the garden are enough flowers for the bees and other insects. i.e. bees, butterflies etc do not die because of the flowers are pruned. I hope I was able to take away your concerns. The pool is cleaned daily, but with busy days the water can become a bit foggy because of all the sunscreen that comes in. Happy you stayed with us and hopefully we will see you back again! Sunny regards, Morena Team

Very kind people, taking you seriously and always happy to chat. Close to the beach. Currently quiet because of the Covid-19 but here you will be hardly confronted with it. Love it. Everything is very clean. Not seen that very often. Great place to be!

Even though we were barely in the resort there were a few things that are worth pointing out. The location is great and very close to a private beach down the hill. The hotel gives you free passes to the beach and towels and then you need to pay for a chair, which is odd, but it's $3-5 so not the end of the world. It is lovely to have a balcony that size which this resort has for every room. However, when you have a family with children that wake up at 6-7 a.m and play in the balcony next to yours you can forget about relaxing. Eveymoring we woke up to crying 3-4 year olds... eerrkk!!!!
Kitchen is clean-ish... they can use a bit more polishing and dish washing. We had a cockroach the size of a mouse.. but that could also be the hot weather.. nevertheless, it made it unpleasant knowing that this gigantic bug is there every night.
The pool is only nice when you are alone there... It is wayyyy tooooo small for so many guests. It really looks like a bathtub compared to other resorts. However if you manage to find a time when it's only you and maybe 2 other people you should be fine... But again when you have 20 kids in there you can forget about relaxing.
Food on the premise is absolutely horrendous. Even if you are staring, drive to the local super market and eat crackers. you are better off with that, then spending so much money on canned food that is warmed up in pots. Generally food on the island is problematic and really not appealing and super expensive... so you better cook or think of other creative ways to eat. The local market has grilled fish which is nice, and some of the plantations have restaurants that serve local, eatable food....
Beaches are amazing and the one next to the resort is beautiful. Definitely a lovely vacation!
