This is a great vacation resort!! Location is perfect — access to Mambo beach shopping and dining literally right next door, Ocean Encounters dive shop and excursions on-site, Aquarium literally right next door. Resort amenities are excellent - 4 great restaurants plus a nice ice cream shop, very nice protected beach with decent snorkeling inside the break wall and even better outside the break wall. Majority Dutch tourists here but everyone is nice and happy to be here. Staff is extremely welcoming and helpful. Daily shuttle to Willemstad and grocery are great. We had an AWESOME visit (part of resort programming) to coral restoration efforts (educational and interesting!!). Room was clean and comfy. Massage on the beach 1 hour 110 euro. The worst massage i had since long time. Within 50 minutes done. At night in the sushi restaurant the.staff were not interested at all to let you have a great night. Starter and main came together and they forgot one starter. They couldn't even bother to say goodbuy by leaving the restaurant. They.all looked very bored. Good for customers. So once and never again Lions dive.

This resort is conveniently situated on Mambo Beach, between the Mambo Blvd. shopping center and the Aquarium, a 3 minute walk on either side, not even exaggerating. I think it's great for everyone, whether you're on a girls trip, group trip, family trip or solo like I did. There is plenty to do, with lots of food options. I see that other reviewers have called this resort "dated" but I don't pay to go to a resort to stare at its exterior. My room was "updated" just fine on the inside. Everything was clean, my bathroom was nice, and because there was no one staying in the room next to me, I had the entire balcony to myself. They even provided freebies like a reusable bag and a water bottle to encourage a "green" lifestyle, which btw, you're allowed to bring home as a souvenir. Service was also a plus. Island hospitality at it's best. I felt very welcomed by both Derrick and Andy upon arrival, they were able to answer all my questions, no matter how silly it seemed. Great location. Easy airport transport and great location for a few days retreat. Restaurants had decent food and lots of other restaurants and some shopping within a 5 min walk. Resort was clean and staff friendly. Love that you can’t reserve the beach chairs and there was always a place to sit. Boats right on the property make excursions convenient.

Very nice hotel with a good location. We would recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are always clean. Breakfast every day was very good. There was plenty of choice for everyone.

Wonderful resort and location. The beach is great and you never struggle to get a chair. You have many restaurants and bars to choose from on site and close by. The 2 bedroom oceanfront rental was great. Lots of space, great balcony and full kitchen. The hotel staff are really wonderful, especially Andy who often greets you in the lobby. The dive shop is on-site and is a wonderful PADI 5 star outfit. The dive masters are exceptional, especially Jeff, Megan and Bart. They really do a nice job informing you about the dive, care about diver safety and also know how to give you space and autonomy on the dive based on your skill level. Remi rocks as boat captain. My only criticism is they could use a bigger non-lap pool with a bar close by. Even though they are called LionsDive, they cater equally well to divers and non-divers. We are going back next year!…

I'm updating my previous review to include some experiences that transpired after I originally posted the following: So, I'm currently on my third night at this hotel, and let me tell you how it's gone so far: "Let's start with the good: this hotel really focuses on being environmentally friendly. They provide you with reusable water bottles, they encourage conservation, and they seem to really take it seriously. The property is pretty clean and they have water fountains for use on the premises to refill the water bottles they give you. Their beach is nice and big, and their proximity to Mambo Beach means tons of nightlife, shopping, and restaurant options. Staff here are also generally friendly and helpful. Now the bad: When we arrived, we were taken to our room, which left much to be desired. First, we had a squeaky fan that, when on, would drive a person mad. Also, we paid extra for a balcony and ocean view and it was hardly much of an ocean view. It was obstructed by a whole lot of unattractive sights, AND the balcony was a shared balcony, so there was no privacy, and people next to you could be heard as if they were in the room. We also requested a room with a kond size bed and got one with two doubles instead. The pillows on the beds are not even standard pillows. they're big, puffy decorative pillows! The TV was *maybe* 32 inches and, heaven forbid you should have a bathroom need that goes beyond your standard pee because anyone passing by can hear absolutely everything that's going on out of a vent in there that can't be closed. Then, to make matters worse, when my boyfriend went to take a shower, there was no hot water! After my boyfriend spoke to the front desk, they were very understanding and relocated us to another "better" room. This room was definitely better. The view is nice and the balcony is private. As I sit here writing this, however, droplets of water are dripping on me from the overhead A/C unit and there is an unrelenting beeping going on at 1230 am (this is not an isolated incident). Things that didn't help the situation included a couple of lackluster pools and the sorriest breakfast buffet I've ever seen. At this point, we're simply too frustrated and fed up to even try to speak to the front staff to rectify it. We booked a five night stay here, and we are sorely regretting it. I could see the appeal for a family who's interested in saving a little money and having several ways to keep their kids occupied, but, all in all, this was not a positive experience. It was especially difficult after spending our first couple of nights at a much nicer hotel that wasn't even that much more expensive. We're not letting this ruin our island experience, but the accommodations were just not up to par. There are still a couple more nights left so there's probably more we'll end up discovering (for better or for worse) but it's honestly going to be difficult to shift the experience to a positive one at this point. For now, I'm going to try to fall asleep through the beeping and the dripping A/C that'll have me dreaming I'm in the rain. " Update: The following morning, we had booked spa services and when we arrived at the front desk to check in, a hotel manager, Erica, approached us with a copy of the review I had posted and offered to attempt to assuage some of the existing issues. Namely, she requested access to the room to have maintenance address the leaking A/C, which we granted (unfortunately, even with that maintenance, the A/C unit still continued to leak). Additionally, she offered to cover our massages as an attempt to rectify some of our troubles. She also asked that, if we felt inclined, maybe we could update the original review. We accepted the massages, which we were very grateful for. As noted in the original review, and to be fair, our room was "upgraded" (to what I would consider was what we had appropriately paid for from the beginning) after we initially complained the first night (the caveat was that loud music played until 11pm - that didn't bother us, though). After that initial complaint, we never complained again. Based on how things developed, I feel that had we voiced those complaints, we would have probably been assisted to the best of their ability. We'll never know if that was truly the impetus for this assistance or if the three star review was. It is worth mentioning, that on the second to last day, we missed housekeeping and we asked if they could come by our room. They agreed to do so and tidied up and left fresh towels. The bedsheet they put on the bed, however, had some very large and obvious stains on them. It's impossible the housekeeper didn't notice that. Something like that shouldn't even be used. Not sure what compelled them to leave that bedsheet on the bed. Would I stay here again? No. I wouldn't likely do that. For us personally, it simply did not meet our needs. …

The beach area was absolutely lovely at LionsDive, and it is extremely conveniently located on Mambo beach by a ton of nice restaurants, as well as being 15 minutes from the city center. We got an oceanfront cabana, but that was a very generous description of the tiny (but clean) room we got, which did have a nice view of the beach. Pool area was unfortunately underutilized, as drinks were only served at night and there was little to no shade. Resort Restaurants had good variety of food, but the paid breakfast buffet was very subpar. I think they used powdered eggs. Team members acted like they did not want you there, were sometimes unsettlingly unfriendly, and were hard to flag down if you wanted to order something. Also, noise was a big problem in our room at night. The party music from down the beach was very loud, and impossible to filter out. For the price, I expected a bit more, but overall had a nice experience, especially at the beach, which was good for both swimming and snorkeling. …
