We stayed here for the first half of our honeymoon, and they went out of their way to make us feel special for the occasion. They had set out rose petals on the bed for our arrival, as well as special cookies and some champagne. They even wrote a little welcome note for us. The resort is beyond beautiful, and the water is clear and wonderful for swimming. We had brought our snorkel gear, and we went for a swim right past the rocks, and there was a wonderful reef with lots of fish and coral right there! I wouldn't recommend it for those who aren't strong swimmers though, as the water does get a little rough beyond the breakers. The breakfast is incredible and we looked forward to it every morning. The omelet station was my favorite! So delicious! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!…
Let's start with the location, this hotel is located perfectly, not fart from the airport and between the cruise port and the famous Mambo Beach. Talking about beaches, you don't need to go anywhere, this hotel have an amazing beach, actually two private beaches that are gorgeous and calm, thanks to the rocks that prevents rough sea water from coming in. The rooms are great, bed is cozy and comfortable, and I had small balcony. The restroom was clean and you have everything that you need. The hotel complex have two restaurants with amazing food and two bars with happy hour during the day. There is also live music. You will have beach towel and free sunscreen. The stuff is amazing, full with smiles and they will take care all of your needs at any time. They kept my luggage safe after I checked out, they let me stay at the beach for free, they called and scheduled taxi for me and when I locked the safe by mistake they immediately took acre of that as well. Get the breakfast in the hotel, there is variety of delicious food and bottomless mimosas and white wine. Also, the coffee in the room is amazing. If I even go back to this paradise I will only go to this hotel, its everything that you need.…
This was our 7th stay at Avila and we are already dreaming of #8! Avila Beach Hotel is perfect base to explore Curacao. The staff are exceptional; the hotel is beautiful and well-maintained. The location is perfect: you can snorkel right from the beach of the hotel and there are fabulous restaurants within walking distance; even the intriguing downtown is only a 25 minute walk. As Americans, we love the international feel and cultural mix that is Curacao. We go to snorkel but we continue to return because of the people. Why we love Avila: the Avila staff continue to be a highlight of every visit. Specifically: Reception - Valerie is special delight. She and Nataly are always so caring and welcoming; they worked hard to help us to change rooms as we were first assigned to a noisy room on the first floor of La Belle Alliance. Throughout our 2-week stay, they helped us to make the most of our visit. Naphtaly was again helpful and patient with questions. All 3 are treasures; they set the tone of warm welcome and practical helpfulness for the whole of Avila Younger staff: Last year, Shauntez, Kellian and Adiel were kind, helpful and welcoming to us. It was such a pleasure to see them again! Shauntez is clearly a star - she seems to work at all hours and does everything with a level of professionalism beyond her years. Adiel is also very professional, patient and kind; he is very efficient in his work at The Pen. Kelian is energetic, helpful and fun; he always makes us smile. All 3 of these young staff members are very special! Sean - (sorry if I'm spelling this incorrectly) the Food Services Director is a wonderful Avila ambassador. We met him last year and were so pleased to see him again this year. He made it clear that if all we wanted was morning coffee on the terrace, we were as welcome as guests having the full breakfast. He serves as a host who wants to make sure that all his guests are having an enjoyable and memorable experience. Housekeeping - Michelda was flexible, patient and efficient. We've had a great history of lovely housekeepers and this year she continued that tradition. Overall - The Reception staff are welcoming, helpful and patient. We always received unhurried, professional and caring service. Maintenance - WOW - they were prompt, courteous and stuck with a problem until it was solved. When there was a problem with our door card; the Maintenance staff member actually went into the memory of the lock system to fix the problem! They also were very responsive about a slow sink drain. Food quality: we enjoyed the food at Blues (coconut ice cream!), The Pen (steak and salmon salad) and the breakfast buffet. We visited the Coffee Bar every morning and the lovely staff and coffee on the terrace were a wonderful start to each day. One night, I came back from a local restaurant and was hoping for some sorbet. The host at The Pen, stopped the chef who was walking by to see if he could help me. Within minutes I was sitting at the Schooner Bar with the most delicious sorbet et biskushi ever - wonderful food; amazing staff! Business Center: we appreciated the service and convenience for your business center - very helpful for printing documents! Beach and grounds - We love that Avila is continually improving the grounds. The addition of art: new murals, the bench with paintings, the rowboat at the end of the pier add to the sense of Avila as a magical place. Overall Avila Beach Hotel deserves 10 stars (yes I know you have a 5 star rating)! The hotel itself is so beautiful, but it is the helpfulness, knowledge and service of the staff that continues to bring us back year after year! Please say a special "thank you" and "we miss you" to all the staff we mentioned. …
If you are looking for a relaxing paradise vacation in the Caribbean then look no further than the Avila hotel in Curaçao. Avila gave us everything we dreamed of in a Caribbean vacation….calm, clear aqua blue waters, seeing lots of colorful Caribbean fish while snorkeling in 2 protective coves, complimentary stand up paddle boards, nice gym, relaxing massages, infinity pool, friendly and responsive staff and incredible food at or near hotel. What more can you ask for? We absolutely loved out stay here and can’t wait to come back! We loved our rooms in the Caribbean Ocean Front Blues wing, Room 291 and 287, overlooking the ocean and sunsets. The Ocean Front Blues wing juts out over the ocean and also has a tall wooden deck tower from which to see the sunset views. But if you choose a west-facing Ocean Front Blues wing, you see the sunset right from your private deck. If you choose an East facing room, you overlook the 2 pretty coves, getting sun in am, shade in afternoon. Both East and West rooms of the Ocean Front Blues wing of the are beautiful, just different in terms on sunrise, sunset views. The two lagoon beaches have plenty of lounge chairs and palm frond umbrellas, for you to just chill under and relax. Plus 2 beach bars to help you relax even more. And they have beach drinks and snacks service…try the bitterballen! The food at the Pen restaurant was excellent. We ate at the Saturday night BBQ (see separate Pen Restaurant BBQ review, awesome!) booked a birthday dinner on the beach and it was delicious and romantic. Chef Marshello and his culinary team cooked a delicious surprise birthday menu, and service and waitress staff (Thank you Jernaline and Charlotte) took care of every detail meticulously to make it a memorable event for us. The set up was absolutely romantic with red rose folded napkins, “I love you” written in the sand, and the surprise menu included hutsspot because I mentioned that was my favorite Dutch dish when I lived in AMsterdam over 40 years ago. The Avila and Pen staff truly listen. The best things about Avila are: 1. The people who work at Avila are very warm, friendly and responsive to guest needs. They really care about your experience as a guest (see pics of the little touches they provide). Special shout-out and thanks for all the kindness to hotels managers Nataly Farley, Marshello at Pen, and his entire chef team, Jernaline and Charlotte at Pen, Giolivienne and Zachary at front desk reception 2. Location: 2 protected lagoons with awesome snorkeling with lots of colorful fish, tang, parrot fish and more 3. Calm relaxing atmosphere and ambiance. Avila is where you come to relax 4. Food: the best Curaçao restaurants (Wine Cellar, Kome, Mosa/Caña, Fishaliciois, Gouverneur De Rouville, Ronzendal’s, Old Market (Plasa Bieu) for local authentic food, all within 5-15 walk from hotel.) Avila hotel in Curaçao is a paradise in the Caribbean. We will definitely return. …
A pretty hotel with clean and calm beaches, we enjoyed the restaurants and the views. The rooms were basic and the food was ok. The issue was, and continues to be, the management and staff. Reception was ridiculously slow and inaccurate. We had booked months ahead and our reservation wasn’t honored. They tried to charge us extra multiple times. When our travel company finally got through to them and made it right, they admitted they gad overbooked that class of rooms. Lies, lies and more lies from the front desk. We checked out and paid our bill for our tab in FULL. Took pictures of the keys on the counter because we really didn’t trust them. Two months later??? They charged us almost 200$? No warning, no explanation, no contact from them. Now we are in a fraud dispute. This is a disreputable company. Avoid at all costs.…
Avila Beach is heaven on earth! The rooms are amazing -- great views, etc. The beach is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I have absolutely no complaints. This is our 4th time staying at Avila and we cannot wait to go back. The staff is so very kind from check in to check out! You cannot beat the view sitting at The Pen restaurant every day for lunch. We have never had a bad meal at Avila. We ate at Blues for the Jazz night and the food was AMAZING! Lot s of great restaurants within walking distance. We did have some travel problems flying in from the states -- Avila was so very kind and gracious to us -- we were delayed two days--Our room was ready and waiting for us when we arrived. If you are looking for a very low key, relaxing beach vacation -- Avila is your place. If you are wanting more of a party vibe everyday -- please go elsewhere. The atmosphere is very quiet and very relaxing on the two beaches. Loud chatting and partying is not the "vibe" at Avila. Thank you Avila for making our vacation such an amazing and relaxing experience. We will see you next year!…
We had a great stay at Avila Beach hotel! Staff were friendly and genuine. The hotel is lovely, with two calm lagoons for swimming when the open ocean would otherwise be too rough to do so. Our room was clean, spacious and had a lovely view. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel is in a fantastic location, within walking distance of town, and many restaurants. We will be back!
We stayed at the Avila Beach resort in March and the weather was perfect. Warm all day, hot in the mid-part of the day but always breezy. The hotel itself was very welcoming, clean and friendly. The staff was informational, helpful and was really nice to have a car rental desk as well as a airport shuttle from a private company for a small fee. The location of the hotel was near a few restaurants, with a short walk to downtown. My husband and I felt safe during our entire visit, walking the streets at night and simply strolling. The property was beautiful, spread out and had a lot of amenities. There were three restaurants on the property, but we only ate at one. The pen. The offerings were good, the breakfast buffet was really nice with a large selection. But the entire staff at the hotel were always so smiley and welcoming. The private beaches were absolutely beautiful as a back drop, always plenty of lounge chairs and beach towels that were always available. Our room was exactly as picture when we made the reservation. We opted for the Blue Oceanfront room. The room itself was clean, big enough for the two of us and had a lot of amenities inside. The shower had good water pressure, the view was beautiful from the balcony and it was cleaned when needed. Our only cons of the room was the mattress was not very comfortable nor were the pillows that were offered. The other negative was the location of our room. It was nice that it was the first floor, right off the path, but it was next to this pump closet that we heard all night. But it wasn't so troublesome that we spoke up about it. (Meaning it did not ruin our stay, it was just noticed.) Overall, our first trip to Curacao was a delight. The people, the food, the property we chose were all wonderful. …
I loved every moment I was there. Everything was perfect and I can not wait to come back. Your staff is friendly, the room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The food was good. The beach is gorgeous. The location is amazing. I have zero complaints. Thank you for offering such a relaxing atmosphere, I feel refreshed. See you soon.
I have been visiting Avila since I was 18. This year I came back after COVID and we had a marvellous time. Our room was wonderful, breakfast was heaven every morning and the staff was super nice. Staff is amazing, they are so warm and welcoming. A special thanks to Monique who always came over to talk to us, also remembered my birthday. We will be back in June.
