We stayed here several nights while on a birding tour...the location is a very good base camp for exploring several good birding areas. One nice surprise was that the staff seemed to really welcome us and want to make us comfortable...we had previously run into openly hostile folks at another hotels. The rooms are scattered across a large compound -- individual buildings with two rooms in each. Some have "suite style" rooms with a living area and a separate bedroom. Our room was a single room with a large attached bath. It was a more than adequate room, clean, with functioning AC and a small fridge. We enjoyed the attached porch with rocking chairs for our evening review of the day. The water is solar heated, and we had plenty of hot water...tho a couple in our group ran out. It may have been because the adjacent room in our building was not occupied. The rooms our group had were bit of a walk to the main lodge where meals were served but that was not a real issue. The meals were adequate -- a bit on the bland side but plenty of choices and good quality. We did not have time to enjoy the beach, tho it looks like it could be very inviting.

This is the second time I have stayed here - on a birding tour both times. Our room was fine - the AC worked and and we had hot water when the days were sunny. Hot water comes from solar panels. The bathrooms were very good - especially the large shower. Rooms had a fridge. Our particular "cottage" had two bedrooms each with three beds and a common area too. Small porch and a rocking chair. We kept the bedroom door where we slept closed at all times with AC going. The one in the other room iced up a couple of times so we let it melt and it worked again. We had one of the further cottages and it was about a 5 minute walk to the dining hall. Food was adequate. Everyone seemed to like shrimp night on the grill though. I often had the soups. I liked them. Rice was served each meal and lots of chicken - better than the chicken you buy in the US ( unless organic). Sodas at each meal. Lots of cheese at each meal too.Desserts were good - although I often just had the caramel ice cream - very good! I had no complaints about the food. Pool is nice and maintained, the beach is very nice! There is a wave block too - so it is not to rough to get in. Also a small booth on beach to buy a sun hat and other small wooden things. You can barter a little if you want. There is a little store that sells water to the left of the entrance. There are a few gifts too. Bars - more than a few serving different drinks - open all night too. Coffee the first day at the bar was the best. Different staff made it each morning and they all are not equal! House keeper came in each day and made our beds and cleaned up the bathroom and sink areas. I brought extra clothes and foot ware to leave for our housekeeper along with a tip. I am sure she knows someone who can use the "stuff". No safe - but if you have something that needs one you are able to use the one at the front desk. We found everyone on staff to be pleasant and as helpful as they could be. Yes - I would stay here again, but I realize this may not be a place for everyone.
