Beach - protected from wind by two buildings of the hotel, which is very valuable in winter. There are umbrellas, sunbeds and sun loungers. Beach towels are issued and changed from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Showers and bars in walking distance.
Internet - paid (less than 10 rubles/hour), works well, even on the beach
The rooms in the main building are common for 3 stars. Balconies, air conditioning, mini-refrigerators, partially visible sea. The temperature of the taps is up to 50 degrees. There's a piece of soap in the bathroom. No adapters needed for outlets. A lot of things need repair, to the building is very old.
Food is simple and idiosyncratic, but there was always something without beans and rice. In addition to the Swedish line, eggs are fried for breakfast and pasta and fresh fish or meat for lunch and dinner.
Drinks. One bar 24 hours a day and day (in each building). Not much coffee, no tea, boiling water, no one swears alcohol. Poured into small plastic cups or into their thermal mugs.
Many steps, but no lifts - the hotel is not for the handicapped
Mosquitoes and biting midges are there - don't forget the remedies

People that work there are amazing, a tip goes a long way, we all work for money. Reynel is such a professional and kind bartender, ask him any drink or any coffee, and he knows how to make it, wife and i were testing him too, unreal haha. People in the hotel that come are usually older people, so getting people to play volleyball is a nightmare, but Osniel, Rudy just get the Geriatric people moving :) great and friendly guys. The DJ guy. I think his name is Emanuel, has a nice taste in music, i have Shazam-ed over 30 songs in a week heh. Plays lounge music in the morning while you have coffee(Thank you!)
Food is good, if youre not too picky, youll be fine,
Things to bring:
Beach towel( so you dont depend on them)
Extra hand towel
Sweater(for cold nights, no heat in the rooms)
LOTS of toys if you are going with kids. So many places where you can leave your child on beach and you have your "coffee" on terrace while overlooking them, this deserves a 5 stars itself. We gave ours away to local cuban kids after.
- Hot sauce, different sauces, makes the food a 5 star hotel foods!
- 1USD bills, 150$ for 2 weeks and you have excellent service everywhere, dont be cheap, and complain of bad service. You get what you pay for, you already have a good cheap all inclusive deal.
Tip really well somebody within hotel, and ask him to exchange CAD/USD for Pesos for you at black market.
Outside of hotel, pay in local pesos. Itll go long way, Massages in the hotel are dirt cheap, ends up being 19-20$/hr. Lady is experienced, its a relax massage, not chiropractor.
Location is 5/5
4th time coming back at same hotel.

The food is… Cuban. It is foolish to expect “American“ food in a country that has so little. But there was lots of it and it was very tasty! As a professional horticulturist, I was impressed by the gardens as well although I get that might not be as special to everyone else lol.
The beach is SPECTACULAR! I haven’t been snorkeling here yet, but I hope to soon!
Full disclosure, it is an old building, with imperfections, most I expect from recent storms. Still, it’s in very good shape and everything works (air-conditioning, water, power.
As someone who’s interested in wildlife, there seems to be a fair bit around and I hope to explore the local ecological reserve soon.

The first room they gave us had no sheets (which was probably a mistake), but they gave us a new one which was basic but fine. All the rooms seem to be twin rooms. Functional AC, TV, comfortable enough beds, although the blanket was very narrow and not ideal for our tall selves. We didn't have a balcony but many rooms have one.
The food was honestly very fine, always found something to our liking. Bring some condiments if you need. There is no 24h snack bar, but there are many restaurants open at all hours around (including Vernissage close by which is 24hrs). Included in your package is one night in their à la carte restaurants, which had amazing service. Make your reservation at the reception at 10am the day before.
There are occasional shortages for towels and certain drinks, but they really always do their best, and that the situation is similar everywhere. This is also a very affordable resort, so it's expected that some amenities will be lacking. To compensate, at least their drinks are strong! :)
Wifi available for very cheap with purchase of cards valid for 1-hour. Not ideal, but you get used to it.
Good entertainment, especially the very talented local performers who come to showcase different dances.
As advice to people who would stay here: bring your own body towel + hand towel+ beach towel, an extra pillow and blanket if you like that comfort, snacks (lots of them!), a cup/thermos for your drinks, extra toilet paper, ear plugs, and whatever extra products you may have as gifts for the hardworking staff (and leave leftover things behind when you leave, like shampoo, meds, etc). Try to bring two types of currencies (some places only accept USD, or card, or CAD, or Cuban pesos), and change some money (only a little at a time) to pesos with vendors at the nearby market.
Overall, great quality/price deal, would definitely come back better prepared with the above suggestions :) Already missing the sunsets and the warm water!
Asked to be changed room and kept being told "tomorrow". Finally on Tuesday, I insisted on the change and moved to room #115... more spacious but still no safe (even though I had been told there was, it didn't work); door handle was coming off the door and I had to insist on having it serviced; pillows still grossly stained but insisted on new and was given some sort of cushions; the room was barely cleaned, for example, the mirror still had writings on it from previous guests. No beach towel available to me all week (probably had a limited number as I did see some guests with towels)!
The hotel did not serve wines (except for Thursday and had run out of red by Friday), and barely any booze or mixes; it was only on Wednesday that they finally got vodka, and on the Thursday that they got cola (for rum and coke for example). They also ran out of glasses (glass as well as plastic) and guests were asked to keep their plastic glasses to reuse. The staff was cutting the top off of plastic bottles (water, for example) and they used that as glasses for their guests.
On the upside, the cleaning lady for room 115 was a kind and pleasant person (though my room was not cleaned for the rest of my stay – one day was at my request to not clean). Also, the lady tending the coffee bar is a very nice and pleasant person.
I have no complaints on the food as I have celiac disease so I’m happy as long as there are fruit and vegetables available!
I absolutely felt that this hotel’s priority is not its out of country guests!
This hotel has a lot of potential, but it is so poorly run/maintained; the staff could use training in regards to cleaning the rooms, for example.

"Food is simple, and Cuba doesn’t have a lot of meat, so don’t expect it. American credit cards don’t work here. Cuban pesos & American $!"Read full review
