had a great time at Melia Varadero. The staff were very friendly. I appreciate when they can speak English as my Spanish is a little rusty. It adds to great customer service. We had an oceanfront room- definitely worth it. Beds were comfortable and no bugs that i saw. The beach is beautiful- I did prefer it to the right as the left side was a little rocky and no sand fleas! The massage with Maria was amazing, great price and better than my massage therapist at home. Also had a great time playing tennis with the tennis pro, Julio. Was happy to get a workout after all those Pina Colada's. Will be back!
Just back from our stay at the Melia Varadero. We lucked out with the weather and had a great time again, our third visit. The staff were great particularly the staff on “the Level” where they take great care of you and your every need. Food and drinks were good as usual. Highly recommend you give it a try whether just a couple or with the family.
We had a lovely stay at Melia Varadero. The resort, pool, beach, and staff were wonderful. Our only complaints are that the bathroom in our room was a bit tired, and the selection at the buffet was not what it has been in the past. With that said, Cuba is suffering major food shortages and Melia Varadero did a wonderful job of disguising that. If we hadn’t been to Melia Las Americas so many times in the past we likely wouldn’t have noticed that there weren’t as many choices for food. While everything at Melia Varadero is pretty excellent, the staff are what make it stand out over other similar quality resorts. Everyone was great, but we took a particular fondness to Osmany, Gustavo, Lisandra, Wendy, and Roberto at the buffet. As well as Papito and Tony at the pool bars. Plenty of chairs at the pool and beach. Decent drink options at the bars. Great cigars at the LCDH next door. Very accommodating staff. We’ll be back.…
Classic big hotel. Room was comfortable and with all amenities and nice sea view. Restaurant food variety was limited, including in the a la carte restaurant, that had to be booked the morning of the visit. Outside area was very good and there is direct access to the beach.
I want to take this opportunity to thank Melia Varadero for having us during our stay in Cuba. The beach was lush and beautiful and the staff was heartwarming and kind. Honestly, that's the reason I'm here; to highlight some of the great team at Melia. Starting with Aldo!!!!! He is awesome, and kind and conversates with you despite some language barriers. Aldo made my trip at least 10 times better; from playing ping pong together to teach us (6 of us) some Spanish and even salsa. Other honourable mentions from the entertainment guys (Samuel, Pedro, Palma, Yadir) all showed my group and many others a good time!!! They had us dancing and having a blast at the resort club all night!! Even to the extent of downloading some music that was requested, that wasn't available on the DJ Laptop! You Guys were the MVP for real. From the food and bar department, I am not going to forget our Cuban Mom "Isis", she was the Spanish mom we never had! she was so kind and educative while exposing us to Cuban culture. Other mentions in this group are Oslavdo, Roque, Julieta and Robier. These guys were inventing awesome cocktails for us all week while engaging in meaningful conversations at odd times like 2 am and stuff. They were awesome for sure Lastly, Barbara from customer service was also helpful after I had an injury from the beach. I miss these guys and the impact they had on me, especially in terms of culture, perspectives, and overall fun! I will be back to visit my amigos for sure! Aldo, Palma, Pedro, Samuel, Isis, Roque, Oslavdo you guys will never be forgotten, thanks for showing me a great time. Cheer, Nelson.…
I stayed at the resort for about 5 days and I enjoyed it! First time I travel to down south. First 2 days it was rainy and very windy, then it got better and got to enjoy the beach. Loved the entertainments also!
This resort is amazing and the staff just makes it so much better. Sherri’s is smiling and has such a great personality. I look forward to coming to dinner to get service here. I will definitely come back to this resort.
This resort was a great experience. When we checked in we asked for a pool view and the attendant said I'll give you a view you'll never forget and that it was, ocean view plus the pool. Our balcony was very large as we had a table, 2 chairs and 2 lounge chairs, so you could tan right on the balcony. The room was very clean and bedding and towels were changed regularly. The stocked bar consisted of 2 beer daily for most days and even paying for more made no difference, 2 was there magic number. Far as seating availability, you could sit or tan anywhere as it looked like the hotel was only 25% occupied. This was actually nice as there were no line ups anywhere. The beach area was nice but was located to the left of the resort. There was a bathroom there as well as bar and snack bar but you had to walk back to resort for these amenities. There was a snack bar there which served different items depending on the hour of day but I should add they also served omlets there till noon if you missed the breakfast buffet. The bar there was open 24x7 and I have to say the two evening bartenders are some of the best I have ever seen in my travels. I will try uploading a picture of these two and if you go there , tell them Frank said hello. They make a wicked white Russian and I can assure you they snuck up on me a few times lol. The overall cleanliness of this resort was excellent, didn't matter which washroom you went to at any time, they were spotless. The pools there were very clean and I seen them multiple times putting chlorine in. I can go on and on but everything was literally spotless. I never did any of the Alacarts but the buffet always had plenty of food, no shortage. Only issue was other than the grilled meats, most items were cold not warm which I didn't like. I talked to the manager of the kitchen staff about this and nothing had been done unfortunately. One thing to put on your list when going there is every Tuesday they have a pig roast for lunch outside, it was fantastic. My wife and I had 2 weeks booked but being there the first week was very cold so we decided to stay for a third week. Unfortunately the Sunwing reps on site could not arrange this for us there and we couldn't access Sunwing online there so we had to have a friend book it for us back home. I would certainly recommend this resort but hopefully the food manager can correct the cold food issue.…
We chose this hotel this time because last time we visited Cuba we went to this hotel to check it out. Wevwerebimpressed by the lobby and outside desig and we were given a your and we were told that there is daily BBQ on the lawn and the buffet menue is changing daily. We specifically asked if they had real milk since we had a hard time finding it got our son and they said yes. But we found out that most if those info were false. There was no real milk, no daily BBQ except for Cuban day and the buffet was really bad. Breakfast option was so limited that we had only eggs every day. Lunch and dinner was exact same. I am glad we only stayed for 3 days! The pool is pretty much useless it is too shallow. The rooms are clean but in need of an upgrade, the staff are friendly. They also don't give you any info. You have to work to find out what is going on or when the shows are. We were also misled about the shuttle to go ro the airport. We were told we have no shuttle included so we arranged for a taxi. But on the day we were leaving we found out there is actually a shuttle coming. We took the taxi since the guy came and we felt bad to send him away!…
I loved my vacation at Melia Varadero! The staff were great very nice and helpful. Loved the dance shows at night and the concert outside Cuban rhythm. Loved Eli and Jose from the entertainment staff. They made things fun. The beach was nice.
