Iberostar Origin Bella Costa
About
Can you guess why this hotel is called Bella Costa (Spanish for ‘Beautiful Coast’)? We will give you some hints: the ocean is on both sides, one of the most famous beaches in the world is a few feet away, the heart of Varadero is nearby and there is tropical vegetation everywhere.
With your family especially in mind, Iberostar offers an activity program where our team’s talent takes center stage. At Star Camp, your kids will make new friends and have fun while learning values. They will also speak the most international language of all: laughter. In the meantime, you can relax by playing golf (the backdrop is unbeatable) or by doing water sports like kayaking or windsurfing. The coast isn’t just gorgeous on the surface; its sea floor is just as stunning. We will lend you some flippers, goggles and a snorkel so you can discover why Varadero is the most colorful tourist destination you have ever seen.

The double-decker bus passed the hotel door to go into town.
For my mother's birthday, the hotel gave her a bottle of sparkling wine with a celebratory cake.
Negative points :
- Algae on the beach is not often collected, therefore a little less aesthetic.
- No Pina Colada available during our stay.
- Missing toilet seats everywhere.
- Wifi included at the hotel, but sometimes faulty.
- Body pillow that serves as a pillow, therefore hard and not comfortable.
Despite these few negative points, I would definitely return.

All of the hotel's infrastructure is in poor condition, both outside and inside. Everything is falling apart. As soon as you arrived, just by the entrance, you felt like leaving, everything was completely dirty. We arrived late and there was only one small "bar" open, where we were offered a kind of pizza (a piece of bread with tomato sauce and cheese) and a hot water with a pineapple flavor, a piñacolada they say.
In the following days we were presented with a buffet that I never thought possible, cockroaches near the food, completely rotten chairs and tables and the food was very little and terrible (I believe that in other hotels there is also little, but in this case, we were disgusted by eating after seeing cockroaches near and in the food). Basically we ate pasta and pineapple every day, we had two days with chicken, the only days we also ate meat.
Regarding the room, the sheets are stained, the pillows are uncomfortable and the room is never cleaned during the entire stay. We asked to change the sheets, but were refused by the maid who aggressively asked why we had removed them from the bed. The towels were never changed, we put the towels on the floor, but the maid put them back, dirty and wet.
The rooms and especially the bathrooms are old, but they could at least be clean, that was the least.
Nocturnal activities, zero. We didn't see any animation all week.
The beach is magnificent, good beach activities and the drinks are not bad. But in my opinion, it's not worth the stay at all.
Finally, on the last day we left our beach towels on the sun loungers while we went to have breakfast and prepare our bags for check out. When we arrived at the beach we didn't have any towels (on several occasions we saw several people doing the same, the towels they were wet and we wanted to leave them to dry), we were forced to pay €60 when checking out, even though we explained the whole situation to several employees, the check out lady didn't even try to resolve the situation, she just said that we had to pay that amount (his name was Yoselín).
We are fully aware of the current situation in Cuba, but the problem with this hotel is not related to a lack of food, but rather to cleanliness and infrastructure. From the reports we had on excursions, the problem of lack of food is common, but the condition of this hotel and the cleanliness is not acceptable.
I don't recommend Cuba to anyone who wants to be comfortable in an all-inclusive hotel, but if you still decide to go, choose another hotel.

Terrible cleaning conditions, the rooms were never cleaned, they made the bed and nothing else. The towels were laid flat to dry and were not washed again. The water they provided us had a horrible taste, they filled the bottles with tap water. The food, with the exception of one or two things, was very poor.
We already knew about the food from scratch, but in terms of hygiene... That has to be there everywhere.
Without a doubt, I would not repeat the experience at this hotel.
It's worth it just for the fantastic beach, which is the best I've ever seen.

Room: The bathroom very old and the shower malfunctioned. Very noisy air conditioning preventing you from sleeping well. They did not clean our room, only when we complained to reception they went up to make the beds and changed 2 of the 3 towels because they had no more. In addition, some sheets were broken and others dirty, not to mention the extra bed, which was a mess.
Food and drink: It looked like the one in the school camps, of poor quality and little variety. The drinks were not cold at all. We despite having everything included only had dinner once at the hotel. They say they have 3 additional restaurants to the buffet, however only one worked and to be guaranteed reservation you must spend more than 3 nights in the hotel.
Atmosphere: People are very left and disrespectful. They leave the glasses anywhere, beach, pool... dirtying the atmosphere. Not to mention buffets, where they take as much food as possible and take it in tuppers or even we saw people carrying ice cream inside plastic bags.
The only good thing about the hotel is the location as the beach is 4 steps away and is very nice.
One of the bonuses' of this resort was that it has a very short walk to the beach from the main building. The resort is clean and tidy. Every morning we seen staff outside washing and sanitizing all the pool loungers and chairs, taking care of the garden areas, as well, ensuring all the walkways and pool area was inspected for any hazards.
We loved the staff, every encountered had was friendly and welcoming . The front desk ladies were fun and informative. Our lovely house keeper Mable. V ( 3rd floor) took very good care of us. There was fresh bottled water in our room daily, including clean towels when requested. (we loved how she decorated our bed with cute towel art when she had the time :) There was always plenty of food , and after dinner we really enjoyed the cappuccino bar!
Our only complaint would be the loud DJ music blaring down by the pool area until 11 pm on a few nights. However when brought to the attention of the resort management they solved the issue by having the speaker facing the beach area instead of right at the balconies' of peoples rooms.
Thank you Bella Costa for making our first trip to Cuba relaxing and welcoming.
See you again next year!
It is not an “all-inclusive”, it is “I include what I have/want”.
Cockroaches in the rooms, old, unreformed, no quilts, toilet paper the first day
Very low quality food, hardly any meat or fish. Bad desserts, they all taste the same, and every day the same ice cream, guava
There is hardly any cola or lemon soda, they offer you only strawberry and pineapple. Imagine a free vat with strawberry.
Two days, six, no elevators, seniors going up to six floors.
Themed restaurants are lousy, offering you the same food they offer at the buffet, repeating every day.
A sugar-free day, drinking honeyed coffee instead.
6 days without eating, scarce and tasteless food, queuing for a sad grilled chicken fillet, not using all inclusive because there is hardly any ice, soda or beer.
You can take care of, in part, the country situation, but a brand like Iberostar that lends itself to this.., regrettable. I can say it was a general feeling, commented on the beach, whether many complain or not.
I will never return or advise this hotel, nor the brand.
Do not fall into the trap no matter how good a price you make

We came back delighted ;)
Magnificent hotel with truly heavenly sea and beach views.
We stayed in a sea view bungalow and it was truly a postcard as the photos show.
The room, finally the apartment I would even say was absolutely sublime, a more than king size bed which measured 2x2M, A huge bathroom, 2 toilets, air conditioning in each room which seems stupid but really essential because the heat is so strong!
Very good housekeeping, despite one day when the bed was not made, our cleaning lady was lovely with us and I hope she appreciated our little daily gifts ;)
It’s a shame that during the stay no towels were changed (including sheets).
Positive point of the hotel:
Hotel on a human scale,
Absolutely magnificent beach, there are plenty of deckchairs and parasols as well,
The lunch canteen is absolutely magnificent,
The servers we met Ariana, Yvonne, Pedro, Alexander, I don't know the first names of the others but they are really very caring and very friendly.
Negative point of the hotel:
There is nothing around the hotel, fortunately the Varadero panoramic bus passes every 20/30 minutes, it allows you to move from right to left and especially in the city center without fear of getting lost or anything else because there is bus stops everywhere and at worst there are really cheap little scooter taxis.
The morning and evening canteen is absolutely unbearable, it's stiflingly hot, it's impossible to take your time eating because you're so hot.
Canteen + reception deserve to have air conditioning.
Also a big thank you to Josselyn and Deniglo at reception who were great at finding us a taxi guide + French-speaking guide to show us around Havana. We loved it.
We loved the hotel and especially Cuba, but the heat is really crazy and the mosquitoes atrocious. Bring repellent and soothing cream otherwise ouch ouch!
Thanks again for everything 🫶🏼
