Sirenis Tropical Varadero is a hotel that seems to divide opinion. Many guests commend the picturesque beaches, inviting pools, and diverse dining options, though the room amenities and maintenance do attract some criticism. While some guests receive unexpected upgrades and commend the cleanliness and staff dedication, others point to inconsistent upkeep. The friendly and attentive staff at Sirenis Tropical Varadero often receive praise, although there are occasional comments about the speed of service. The musical entertainment and themed nights add to the atmosphere, but a few guests suggest a livelier evening ambiance could enhance the experience.

On excursions we talked a lot with tourists from other hotels in Varadero, it was then that we realized what a good hotel we were living in. We waited about 30 minutes to check in, but we were the second in line; in general, check-in at the reception is not quick. For an additional fee of $50 they offer a room with an ocean view. We lived in the main building, the room was spacious, the three of us were not cramped. The room has air conditioning, three beds, 2 bedside tables, 2 armchairs, a table, another table, glasses, TV, refrigerator, wardrobe, hangers, safe, ironing board, iron, telephone, hair dryer, shower, shower gel, shampoo, soap, 2 chairs, table on the balcony. There was a thermopot or a kettle, I don’t remember exactly, we didn’t use it because... no tea or coffee included)). We did not have enough rope and clothespins for drying towels and swimsuits; we had the rope with us, but there was nothing to hook it to. Drinking water was replenished daily with 1.5 liters for three. There were enough sockets, some European-type sockets, some US (via an adapter). In 6 nights, towels were changed once. The room was cleaned daily (we left gifts on the bed). WI-FI is normal, it drops periodically, you have to re-enter your name and password, it works almost throughout the entire hotel, on the beach near the main building, where it doesn’t work for catamarans. The beach is large, clean, beautiful, the ocean is excellent, the entrance is gentle, soft, the sand is pleasant, the water is clear, there are plenty of umbrellas and sunbeds. They provide beach towels (there are problems with their availability, but we were able to get them on the third day). Daytime animation on the beach and by the pool, volleyball, evening animation first for children, then something like concerts takes place. There is enough food, but there was no pleasure from eating, everything was somewhat bland, dry, and harsh. The ice cream is very tasty. There were not always eggs for breakfast, once there was rice milk porridge, there was always cereal with milk, cheese and sausage slices, pastries, tea, coffee, and apparently juice drinks. Fruits: papaya, guava, oranges, pineapples, watermelon, and for some reason bananas were only after heat treatment, they were not served fresh. Vegetables: cucumbers, tomatoes, greens, pumpkin, cabbage. I almost didn’t take salads, because... Once the salad with squid seemed sour, I liked the salad with tuna. Steaks from chicken, beef, pork, and fish are fried. Lots of different pasta, rice, beans, sweet potatoes, soups, squid, shells a couple of times, sushi once. There are a la carte restaurants, but we didn't go. The rum in the bars is good, the cocktails depend on your luck.

In order - check-in is quick, the hotel lobby is beautiful, the entrance and the territory are also beautiful and well-groomed - there is a place to take pictures. The beach is huge - there is room to spread out, there are enough sun loungers for everyone, there will be no problems! The sea is comfortable and not dangerous - the bottom is flat everywhere. The beach is clean, there are no algae, entry into the water is good and convenient with children, there are no waves, although this is the Atlantic, we were in the Caribbean in Cancun a week ago, it is impossible to go in with a child. The territory is clean, but our people behave unsightly, eating abandoned bulls. Mostly Russians, there are Americans, Canadians, etc.
The restaurant is like everywhere else - some are better, some are worse, no one will leave hungry, we always found something to eat. In the neighboring Dominican Republic, the 5-star rating was worse; there are no particular complaints about the food. We didn’t take excursions, we came from neighboring Mexico, we go everywhere ourselves. Getting to the plaza with souvenirs costs 5 dollars - haggle.
We were unlucky with the room - it was tired, the toilet was dirty, after contacting customer service they washed it twice, after which the toilet seat was completely replaced. The balcony door was broken - they also fixed it. The front door doesn't close well, I hope they fix it. There are towels, they do the cleaning. In general, they respond to criticism and try to help, but due to the sluggishness of the lower-level staff, this is not fast. They drank beer that was quite edible, and did not drink anything else. The building itself is quite new and looks normal. There is a playroom for children, there is quite enough of everything, including toys and entertainment such as billiards. The funny animator played with our son. On the beach, the animators for adults seem to be active, there are songs and dances in the evening, in general everything is also good.
WiFi is not bad for Cuba - it’s quite tempting to watch YouTube and make voice calls on WhatsApp and Telegram. We caught it both in our room and in the lobby, of course.
Overall, I will say that for Cuba this is a good hotel for the money, it’s not a fact that you will find much better, if even in one of Melia, judging by the reviews, there are cockroaches 🤦‍♂️, but not here! At the same time, I am not silent about the fact that there are shortcomings, but do not hesitate to talk about them and demand their elimination.

Our 5th time at this hotel in 3 years.
As always we had a wonderful family holiday, we were 10 of which, 4 children 6 adults from 9 to 16 January 2025.

What about the food WOW, every time we went to the Sirenis we always found something to eat, but this time it was even better. The buffet was half open, but we were lucky to have 2 buffets to accommodate the people who were in the other part of the hotel.
We ate to our hunger, tastes, varieties of meals every day, fried chicken, Mexican style cabbage hiding place, pulled pork, fried rice every day, hot dogs, hamburger, mussels and I don’t have anything negative to say about food. We had brought spices and condiments from Canada but we didn’t need anything.

We had a lot of fun with the animation staff doing Karaoke or listening to music at the pool bar after the show, however a boss who works at the pool bar kept disconnecting the sound system while tourism was having fun, the animation people tried several times to restart the system but the boss was yelling at them in front of everyone, I think it’s a shame on his part to stop the animation people from putting life at the hotel and the tourist.

For drinks the rum punch with the peach juice, miam at the pool bar cayo marguerrita was delicious. I saw that some we cried for flat beer, in some cases had been true because a compressor was broken so it would bring beer in jugs to avoid tourism walking at the other end of the pool so if you didn’t want flat beer you could go to the other pool where it had the functional compressor (main bar or also cohiba bar) for wine it had their meals and once the buffets closed if you wanted wine you could always go to the cohiba bar it served until its closure (11pm).

The rooms were very clean as always, the public toilets too, for toilet paper he had all day, but later that evening he was missing, you just had to ask the people at the bar or bring some from your room to avoid having a problem and crying, even here in Quebec it happens to go to the bathroom and run out.

I would definitely go back to see our siren family ❤️❤️

It was our first time in Cuba; we chose the Sirenis Tropical Hotel purely intuitively, and our intuition did not let us down. We liked absolutely everything! A huge hotel area, the presence of several bars with various cocktails for every taste, in addition to standard Cuban cocktails, you can ask for your favorite one and they will prepare it for you, a large swimming pool, a clean beach 2 km long, Wi-Fi works right on the beach, yes yes - you didn’t think so. You can also ride a catamaran or sail for free for 30 minutes a day. And for $20 you can take a sail right from this beach to the coral reef and see the fish. Masks, vests, everything is there. The food in Cuba is specific, but you won’t leave hungry, they fry meat and cutlets in front of you; a lot of fruit, delicious ice cream, pies. The staff is very diligent and smiling. The rooms are cleaned well, sometimes there was something not satisfactory in the cleaning - they wrote a request on a piece of paper and it was fulfilled. The animators are great! Dancing, water aerobics, volleyball, evening shows, disco, even karaoke at the bar in the evenings were all at the highest level. Guys: Jamie, Maikol, Norlin, Moto - the best! There were vacationers at the hotel who came to this hotel for the 6th time! Someone 2nd, 3rd. I think that this is an indicator and the highest merit of the hotel! I also plan to visit Sirenis again next year, because I didn’t find any cons during my 12 days stay at this hotel

We vacationed together at the Sirenis Tropical Varadero hotel from October 19 to October 31, 2023.

Number. Our room had a view of outbuildings, but we didn’t change it because... in fact, they only came to the room to sleep) The room has a refrigerator, air conditioning, and a safe. The bathroom had a hairdryer, shower gel and shampoo and soap. The room was cleaned and towels were replaced every day, and every day they made all sorts of figures from the bedspread) They also brought a 1.5-liter bottle of water every day. Wifi in the room worked well but needed to be renewed after 3 hours or sometimes after 6 hours. There were no insects in the room. The only thing was that the door key card broke once, but they fixed it quickly.

Territory.
Firstly, the ocean, it’s simply incredible, white sand, azure, clear water🧡 There are essentially 2 beaches, the first one is quieter, the second one plays music, there is a volleyball court, there is animation, dance lessons. We took dance classes on the beach every day at lunchtime.

Nutrition.
I read reviews about Cuba and prepared for the worst, but the food was quite normal, in my opinion. Pasta, rice, pork, chicken, omelettes in the morning, sausage, cheese, vegetables - cucumbers, tomatoes, fruits - pineapples, sometimes bananas, papaya, guava. Very tasty pastries and ice cream.

There are great evening shows every night. The staff tries very hard, the guys give their best! I would like to say a huge thank you to the animators Jose, Eileen, Moto for the good mood and pleasant emotions☺️🧡
I have only pleasant impressions from the hotel.

I have just returned from a dream vacation at the Sirenis Tropical Varadero at a very affordable price and I cannot recommend it enough. The hotel is wonderful, with spacious, clean and comfortable rooms, and luxury service that makes you feel at home. The staff is very friendly and attentive, especially the girls at the reception, everyone is always willing to help you with a smile. I loved the detail of leaving me a bottle of rum in the room, that's Cuban hospitality!
The beach is spectacular, with fine white sand, and a crystal clear sea that invites you to swim. There are water activities to enjoy, such as snorkeling, kayaking or sailing, you can have a massage watching the sea and you can also play tennis or exercise in the gym. The hotel has a very nice pool with a bar inside, where you can have delicious cocktails while listening to Cuban music. There's nothing like a cold mojito to refresh yourself!
The food is another point that I liked about the hotel. There are several a la carte restaurants where you can taste traditional Cuban cuisine, as well as Italian specialties that are scrumptious. The buffet is also very varied and rich, with options for all tastes. Best of all, the hotel is all-inclusive, so you don't have to worry about anything other than enjoying yourself.
In short, for me it was a perfect vacation destination where I could relax, have fun and get to know Cuban culture. I am already thinking about returning next year, from Colombia I take this experience in my heart, because I have been left wanting more.

We stayed at this hotel from March 31 - April 1.
Let's start with check-in, we had Ocean View, we asked for a room no lower than the 4th/5th floor, we were offered a bungalow for $50, 1st floor, it had a gorgeous view, the room was nice, everything was clean and tidy, a full set of bedding, two warm blankets, the air conditioning worked only in the cold. Things in the room always remain damp. The room is cleaned once a day, but the name alone did not bother us about the cleaning. They left us a tip, played swans, once asked for toilet paper and towels via a note in Spanish, they brought paper, then asked the maid for a towel, but the new towels were not the cleanest.
Food gets boring after 10 days. The dishes are always dirty, I’m inclined to think they’re super old, hmmm. There are cockroaches, but you get used to them)
The Bungals have their own separate dining room, in 10 days there were no eggs once, vegetables are always fifty fifty, everything is in some kind of sauce, often sour, so be prepared for anything. The meat is chicken and pork, the first week we ate lunch on the street in a snack bar - there was grilled chicken/pork/cutlets
It’s unpleasant when you have to beg for several pieces of meat in the dining room because you don’t want to eat what was prepared earlier. The downside is that for some reason the hotel cannot fry the chicken fillet in advance and just put it in, you have to wait, they gave octopus twice, lobster once
Fruits - papaya, pineapples, guava - are not always fresh and ripe, but you can choose.
Desserts are all the same, nothing special
Two of us got poisoned during the entire vacation period
Ice cream every day for lunch and dinner,
The animation program is good in the evenings, but mostly it's dancing. The beach at the hotel is steep, there is a caveat that it is not cleaned. The garbage dump that was brought in by the storm remained there.
Bar: take thermal mugs, because the cups are WASHABLE - they're tough.
There is Internet, but it crashes, you won’t be able to work if necessary)
In general, Cuba is not about service, but about the beach and ocean and color)

I give the hotel a confident 3 because of the territory and the beautiful beach with the ocean (which in general is not the merit of the hotel, but of Mother Nature)
To be honest, I was preparing for the worst when it came to food, but otherwise I was expecting something more or less acceptable, which turned out to be in vain. Point by point:
1. There is simply no service (upon check-in there was a broken balcony, which was closed with a stick and not completely, no duvet covers, a bedside table broken into rubbish. Contacting the reception did not solve the issue, the guest service helped but only with duvet covers, 11 days of rest we propped up the balcony stick). The cleaning lady, even with a tip, did not put in toilet paper (which was decided through the reception), they stopped leaving water on the 6th day at all. Beach towels were provided only on the 3rd day.
2. Food - well, here everything was clear that everything is not very good (you won’t remain hungry, but eating delicious food is not about this hotel, everything is monotonous and has practically no taste)
alcohol tonic; even their mojito is tasteless)
So Cuba is not bad at all, but definitely choose another hotel if possible!

We visited Cuba with the whole family, we were there from 01/19-01/29/2024.
The hotel itself is clean, the rooms were cleaned every day. If you choose this hotel for your vacation, ask for a room above the 2nd floor, as there are mosquitoes below. Regarding food, don't expect much here. Everything is quite modest and simple, but you can always choose what you like. There were 2-3 types of sausage and cheese, several types of salad, fish heh, mussels, squid, 2-3 types of pasta, bakat, bacon, eggs in the morning, meat chopped on the bone was soft and juicy, the cutlets were delicious. Even my child ate it with pleasure. My husband really liked the small oval-shaped sausages (we think they were some kind of offal with steamed vegetables), ice cream in the evening. In general, in any case, you will not remain hungry.
Note for future guests, the doors there do not close well (you have to slam the door very hard). But I found an unexpectedly great way to close it silently. When you leave your room, lower and remove the magnetic key into the lock. Lower the door handle and close it.
Regarding excursions from the tour operator, calculate 1 excursion = 100 € per person.
The ocean and beach are wonderful. My husband and I like to walk along the beach, and not just lie like a seal.
The hotel has a stone cape (you can’t walk on it without slippers, it’s very sharp) a local fishes on it and feeds the pelicans, and when you arrive he gives you a piece of fish so that you can feed it too. We even think that the hotel pays him for this, if not, then it’s in vain.
In general, we really liked it there, the service is much better than in Egypt.
P.S. don’t waste your money and go to Varadero to eat lobsters. The taxi driver will recommend a good place. We are delighted))

Minuses:

Kitchen: The buffet consists of 90% tasteless food. You'll take 10% normal... if you have time. The meat is cooked disgustingly, the rubber is chewed better. 5 out of 15 days there were no eggs of any kind, dry pancakes without toppings, instead boiled bananas, beets and beans. As for drinks, there is always water, the rest runs out quickly. No service. No napkins, they provided toilet paper if you asked.

Room: Many rooms do not have hot water, we waited 5 days for relocation. Bath towels are only available and are not changed. Also, bed linen is not changed. Sometimes they were left without drinking water.

Bar: Drinks are made differently everywhere. Cola and Fanta, various cocktails were constantly running out. Bars suck for normal people. For boogers - it's normal.
Swimming: they don’t allow you to go in even knee-deep with relatively small waves.
Entertainment: there are 2 courts, but there is only 1 pair of rackets, and they begged for 5 days, they said that they simply did not have them.
Pros:
Beach: many free sun loungers, volleyball, large beach.
Bottom line: only go to a chain hotel in Cuba, where quality standards are maintained even at 4*.

Yes in main building all the ocean view rooms have balconies. Nice and big and covered as well so you can still sit on the balcony even if there’s a rain shower.

We haven’t stayed at Sol Serenis but have stayed here 4 times. Love this resort we just spent two weeks here in April. Fairly good selection of fruits and salads but only had burgers once during our two week stay and although the a la carte and Cuban night dinners were fantastic with lots of meat choices in the main buffet typically pork or fish.
