I don't know if this is still happening, but back in 1996 when I was in Stgo dancing with Cutumba, we would go hang out at the rooftop bar at Las Americas and watch our friends in the floor show - a big mix of son, merengue and Afro-Cuban dance. Hi all - stayed at the hotel for a weekend in early April. Prices were a little higher than last year but for the convenient location I didn't mind. Greeted at reception and was asked to have a beer while they located my reservation - not a problem! I had a room on the 4th floor this time. Small but... More

Las Americas has a nice swimming pool, big rooms and a very small bar. But they also have the 4-star-Melia right in front. Where we went for dinner twice. Once in the perfect and cosy Italian restaurant on the ground floor, and once upstairs, in the chique buffet restaurant. "Chique" mainly because of the wine cellar. Or better still "wine... More

I booked this hotel on line and paid only $70.00 Can for 2 nights with breakfast. I was allowed to check in early, and was shown to a charming cozy room on the ground level. Art deco style furniture and black out drapes, working TV, and large bath. The front desk staff were very concerned about my traveling alone, and... More

If you're looking for an hotel that is just outside of the city center and still within reach of the main attractions, this hotel and of course the luxury hotel across the street are a good choice. There are plenty of taxi's in front of the hotel or just across the street that can bring you down town. The main... More
