Love the hospitality of the people working there, they were great with me at all times. Walking distance to anywhere I wanted to go. Great restuarant near by. Local employees are very awesome. I recommend the city to everyone.

I booked this hotel sort of last minute and without much research as we added Camagüey to our itinerary quite late into the planning and just wanted a good enough place to sleep. What a pleasant surprise! The hotel was beautiful and our room was HUGE with modern furnishings, beautiful furniture a massive bathroom (shower and bath tub) and all the amenities we could possibly need. We arrived in a bit of a storm with a dispute about out taxi fare and the staff was very helpful in trying to resolve it. We were shown to a room and asked if it met our approval (if not, they could show us another room – something we’ve not had before). The room was perfect. The Room had a massive king sized bed with a very comfortable mattress and pillows, a flat screen TV with quite a few English Channels, a huge wardrobe, three lounge chairs with foot stools, a coffee maker (no coffee), bar fridge (although on its coldest setting it was barely making a difference), an iron and board, a dressing table/desk, valet stand, luggage stand, wall mounted safe, umbrella, hair dryer and make-up mirror, soaps, shampoo, body lotion, bathroom scale (doesn’t work) and huge fluffy white towels. The room was cleaned daily and the towels, soaps etc. replaced. The room has huge wooden doors leading out directly onto the sidewalk but it is permanently locked for obvious reasons. We expected a lot of street noise, but although we could hear some of the sounds it was not loud or disturbing and it did not last late into the night. Unfortunately the room has no windows so it was quite dark and we had to have all the lights on all the time. Breakfast was included and served at the hotel across the street - pretty shocking to say the least. I literally had to force myself to eat at least some of it not to be rude. The place was covered in flies – we counted more than 20 just on our table! Service was slow and lackluster. We did not even bother the next morning. If you have the option to book without breakfast, then do it and eat somewhere else. We stayed in Room 1 – right at reception - which was great for Wi-Fi (You have to be right at the door to get the Etecsa login, but once connected, then the signal stays on in all of the room, whereas if you try to get a signal elsewhere in the room, the Etecsa login does not come up). The hotel is located right in the heart of everything and a few steps away from the pedestrian mall and within walking distance from everything. The staff was friendly and helpful which made our time here very pleasant. I’d definitely recommend this hotel for a very comfortable stay and good value.

I asked for a room at Camino de Hierro hotel, and the travel agent book me this one, that is part of the Camino de Hierro complex. Is in a central location of Camaguey vintage areas of the city, around Plaza del gallo. At the time of our visit the wifi areas in Cuba have just began and you can see he citizens hanging around the square and chatting with their friend abroad. The rooms have plenty of space and are well fitted for Cuban standards. The bath was fine and everything worked well. The place was very clean and quiet, I don't even note other guests. A concert was performed in the near plaza and we don't even note it in our room. A central patio is a great feature that you will enjoy in the morning. The breakfast in the near Camino de hierro buffet restaurant was not so great, the scarcity of dishes was something to note. The facility have two blocks, one is Camino de Hierro the other La avellaneda, it's probable that in Camino de hierro the wifi (paid) signal gets into the room, in La avellaneda that was not possible. It's probable that the Camino de hierro block have views over the city, La avellaneda is just ground floor, so no views apart from the central patio.
