So we booked this casa via Hotels.com. We rang the bell and the man walked with us to another casa, with no futher explanation. The other person showed us the room that was nowhere near to what it looked like on Tripadvisor. After going back we found out that there was no room for eventhought we already payed 45 euros for it. We did not get a refund becaus the man didn't have any money. @Tripadvisor please check this before recommending this casa in the future
We stayed three different times at this casa! Everytime we had a very kind welcome from the people working at this Casa. The English of the owner is also really good, what can be helpfull when your Spanish is as bet as ours. They really try to have you the best holiday ever and help you whenever you needed. We really recommend this place!
Very nice and clean rooms and a extremely helpfull staff. Calm, relaxing atmosphere and very good breakfast. This is the place where we love to come back. Short walking distance to tourist attractions (Capitolio, Plaza vieja, Obispo and several museums) and good restaurants.
The location does not get any better. Excellent breakfast and very nice hosts. We enjoyed very much our stay and will definitely come back next time in Cuba. Many nice restaurants nearby. Highly recommended.
We spent 4 nights here after 10 at a resort in Disneyland (viz: Varadero). The stairs look iffy to North American eyes but compared to all of the other casas I've stayed at in Cuba are in very good condition (99% intact with a solid handrail!). Maybel has excellent English and is very knowledgeable. Good breakfast and close to the major sites and good restaurants. There is always a staff member there, most with limited English but all helpful and friendly.
We stayed in the ‘apartment’ across the street. Instead of a bunch of platitudes regarding this property, the following improvements and suggestions may help the owners: 1. The shower only delivers a trickle of hot water. By increasing the flow, the water becomes cold. A more effective water heater is necessary. 2. The wires delivering electricity to the shower are potentially dangerous. Improved electrical insulation is required for this inadequate installation. 3. In the event of fire, inside or outside the apartment, a clear escape route diagram needs applying in a suitable place. 4. There are 5 locking gates/doors to access the bedroom from the street. Are all these locks necessary? 5. A list of the drinks in the fridge and the prices would be helpful. 6. Details displayed of where and when breakfast is served (on the morning we had agreed to have breakfast, we were unable to find the appropriate facility in the other building). 7. When we arrived, a young man who spoke only Spanish showed us the room. Our Spanish is basic at best, however, all our correspondence to reserve the room had been in English. An English speaker would be greatly appreciated by future guests. It has to be said that the room is extremely claustrophobic because of the lack of natural light/ street view and anyone who is not aware of this may experience a problem. Terrific location and apart from the shower facility, the bathroom was clean and modern.…
My husband and I stayed at Havana 1913 for a week and had a fantastic time. This charming bed/breakfast was conveniently located and gave us an authentic and beautiful taste of Havana. Language was a barrier with most staff, but that was not a negative in any way- it forced me to dig deep to remember my high school Spanish and we loved how kind and patient everyone was when trying to communicate with us (by the way, the owners do speak fluent English). If you are looking for a sanitized luxury hotel experience, this isn’t for you. But if you are looking for a clean residence with Cuban decor, delicious breakfast and wonderfully-friendly staff— this is a perfect choice. We loved every minute of our stay and made the right choice choosing Havana 1913.
My boyfriend and I spent three nights in this beautiful casa in the heart of Havana Vieja. It was also the only casa we had booked from home and the most expensive one compared to the other cases we have visited during our journey. From the airport, the casa is very easy to reach in a half an hour ride. We got the room in the internal veranda and it was indeed very quiet and well equipped with air conditioning. The casa's position is strategic and the first night we had dinner in the restaurant just in front of the casa - Teniente Rey 360 - where I got a really really good Ropa Vieja (probably the best of my trip to Cuba). The day after we met the owner, Lourdes, who gave us a lot of great hints on where to eat, what to visit and so on. The whole staff of the casa is extremely warm and welcoming. One of the ladies, Regla, puts great care and will cook for you a really amazing breakfast. The breakfast, as in other places in Cuba, costs 5CUC and was absolutely the best we have had during our trip. Try Regla's torrejas because you will not regret it! Also, the casa has got wifi connection which means that if you buy the Nauta card you can use the card (even only one for more people) in the casa without needing to go to overcrowded internet areas. Overall it was a great stay and I would definitely recommend Lourdes casa!…
We had the pleasure of staying in Casa Lourdes Havana 1913. The owners took such good care of us. Perfectly appointed. Delicious breakfast. Centrally located. You can't go wrong. Owners went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Really dear, sweet caring people.
The people in the house were all amazing! The lady spoke really well english and answered all our questions in detail. Also everything was truly clean and tidy. But what was also great was the casa's location! Thank you for everything!
