At the beginning of our trip we stayed for 3 nights and then 1 night at the end. The first room was in the house next to where you have breakfast. Beautiful high ceiling, very comfortable bed and all very clean. very friendly and helpful staff. Downside there was only a curtain between the bedroom and bathroom. Our second bedroom was downstairs in main house. Bit more modern design but again comfortable and clean and a door on the unsuite! Nice breakfast is served on the rooftop and small bar. The house is very centrally located.

The room was clean. The management was exceptionally helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was more than adequate. Breakfast is served on the rooftop. They also serve a welcome mojito on the rooftop. The hostel is centrally located. For the price I would recommend it.

First of all if Cuba is not on your "Bucket List" then it should be. Just about everything you have read about Cuba is true. Probably the most important thing to know is that you have to change your mindset. From the moment you land you have to change/lower your expectations. Standards are not what you would expect in Europe. Do that and you will have an unbelievable experience especially if you you have the strengt and or are capable of disconnecting from the net! However the food is improving so is the quality of accommodation and to some extent service! We are giving this a 5 because this was our experience the week before the virus interupted our Cuban round trip - Our room at Casa Azul was authentically Cuban, clean, tidy and very funtional - everything worked - from air condition to hot water. Some may complain about the beds being hard - but thats Cuba - some may complain about the limited choices of food at breakfast - but thats Cuba. During our stay we were met by smiling staff and the receptionists were very helpful. There are couple of other things that might be considered a minus; if you are not one for stairs - then you could have a problem - steep stairs up to the second floor and even steeper and narower up to the amazing breakfast/bar terrace. The other thing is that you are not allowed to put toilett papir in the toilett. Lastly their WiFi is hopeless - but like we said switch-Off! From our experiences from visiting other hotels, guest houses and B&Bs arround the world Casa Azul could be classed as a mini hotel and not an authentic Casa. On the pluss side, its has a great location for enjoying the old town of Havana. Relax and enjoy! We would stay their again!

Our stay at Casa Azul was unpleasant. We checked in on December 21 and there was a smell of sewer near the pipes to bathroom toilet. The smell was nauseating. We left the room on December 25 and travelled to Viñalis and checked into a different AirBnB. We returned on December 29 to Casa Azul, changed our flight arrangements and returned to Mexico on December 31. The advertisement was absolutely fraudelent and misleading. The owners said it was a problem with the translation from Hotel.com. There is no free wifi (the owner upon request allowed us to use her wifi for approximately 30 minutes per day, there was no free breakfast (it is 3 cucs per person), there was no offer for airport drop off service (they were aware of our early departure), there was no hot water on December 31, the water pressure was a trickle (the owner had to fill the tank), there family day is Sunday and we spent two Sundays at their establishment-they have small young grandchildren that spoke in loud voices, ran back and forth in the corridor outside the guest rooms for approximately 4 to 6 hours each Sunday. On a positive note the sheets and towels were changed daily. Our stay because of these conditions was reduced from 15 nights to 6 nights.

Saludos

A series of linked houses forming the 'family' Casa Azul. Value for money. Spent 4 nights before going on a tour of Cuba and on return a further 3 nights. Used as a base for Havana and good location for walking and exploring Havana Vieja (Old Town). Staff friendly and helpful and the two rooms we had were comfortable with en suite bathroom and shower. Good range of choice for breakfast. Only negative was the circular steel staircase needed for access to rooftop breakfast as my wife suffers from vertigo.
