I have traveled to Cuba 9 times since 2013 and have always stayed in casas particulares all over Cuba. La Casa de Ana (CA) is by far the best of them all. Here’s why: CA combines and excells in ALL of the elements that make casas particulares such a wonderful part of a visitor’s experience to Cuba: 1. Location. CA is located in the western end of el Vedado. This is a wonderful neighborhood that gives you a glimpse of Havana’s community life. It is also quiet enough, except for the random barking dog, to rest when you choose to rest. Yet, CA’s location is central enough to enjoy great sites in walking distance: the necrópolis, the Fábrica de Arte Cubano and it’s delicious restaurant (El Cocinero), and the Malecón, just to name a few. There are other good places to eat within blocks, as well as food stores. Moreover, CA is just a few blocks from major avenues that will connect you either to Centro Havana or Old Havana to the east or Marianao or Playa to the west. 2. Acommodations. CA is not fancy not located in a historical building, but it is impeccable and its two rooms (I stayed in one and my parents in another) are ample in size and very comfortable. Both have bathrooms in perfect working conditions. Both have small fridges and modern AND silent AC units. I personally don’t like the AC and was perfectly comfortable with a fan. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. There is a nice sitting area and front patio which are lovely spaces to read or hang out. 3. Staff. This is the key. La Señora Ana is a lovely host and very experienced at this business. And she hires equally lovely staff whom she clearly supports and respects. Miguel and Omar, the two night staff, will receive you with a smile no matter at what time you arrive at night. Pablito, the driver, is professional and an absolute darling (and a perfect driver). ... take care of breakfast and cleaning. I cannot say enough of their professionalism and absolute kindness. In particular, I loved how la Señora Ana integrates her staff into every aspect of the casa. Ana clearly realizes that her staff is an integral part of the visitors’ experience. That is the way it should be and what makes casas particulares the exceptional experince that they can be. 4. Other small details. Both rooms have safety boxes. Also, CA offers a great service whereby you can order the night before a lunch bag. Super handy, especially if you are on a budget (it cost about $6 as of this writing). There is ALWAYS someone in the house, something I particularly value when I travel alone (and in past experiences hasn’t always been the case). La Señora Ana goes over and beyond, like making sure my dad and I had a delicious cup of coffee early in the morning before heading out to El Morro to take photos of the sunrise over Havana. Another example: x making a delicious guava dessert simply because my dad mentioned that he missed that dessert from his time living in Venezuela. Oh yes, and the breakfast is the best and most abundant I’ve had in all of Cuba. 5. American travelers: travel to Cuba and support casas particulares and paladares! Also, support local musicians, those incredibly talented men and women who serenade you in restaurants. You may not realize it, but many are worldclass musicians struggling to make a living and keep Cuban traditional music alive. All of these people are at the forefront of a growing entrepreneurial and challenged artistic class. Support their staff, tip well. Despite the political rhetoric, there is more flexibility to legally travel to Cuba than most Americans realize. Cubans are facing increasingly tough times with the tightening of the U.S. imposed embargo and the collapse of the Venezuelan economy. And if you can, stay in la Casa de Ana. You will have an unforgettable experience.…
I have just come back from a 10 day trip to Casa de Ana. Ana is a wonderful lady and will do anything for you, Ana is so knowledgable about the area, she has lived there all her life. Ana helped us to decide what trips to go and on and the best place to book them. Her breakfasts are typical Cuban and plenty of it. The Casa Particular is spotlessly clean and your rooms are cleaned daily, there is a fridge which is well stocked. You are about 7kms from the city centre of Cuba, Anna will arrange taxis for you and you are close to the stop on stop off tour bus. There are several nice restaurants close by.
Ana and her staff are extremely kind and make you feel at home. Ana helped me with information on places to go, how to get there, and scheduled taxis whenever I needed. The neighborhood is quite and pleasant, and there are good restaurants nearby. FAC, a nice place to go at night, is just a few blocks away. I would definitely stay there again in another trip to Havana.
This was my second time in Cuba. The first time I stayed in a different place which I did not like at all. The second time I was going to Cuba I made sure to book early so I could stay at the La Casa de Ana. Ana is like a family. The house was very clean, the help she had were very very nice. Everyone in Anas house made you feel like family. I will be back in Cuba, and again I will make sure my stay is at La Casa de Ana. I will recommencement Ana's place to everyone who is planing to visit Cuba. Thank you Ana for making my stay so wonderful. I was sad to leave, but I will be back for sure.
We were thrilled to move to La Casa de Ana after attending a historic medical convention. We loved the location and could easily take taxis to see different sites and the beach. Ana is the best host. The room was well-appointed, clean and offered round the clock service.. Ana oversaw every detail and she served an amazing breakfast each day. The quality of her B and B surpassed any national hotel. Ana's place is two blocks from Fabrica Del Arte - a must see artistic collective that captures the new wave Cuban spirit of music, dance, food, cinema, fashion design and more. Ana took care of our taxis, money exchange, laundry and gave excellent recommendations for dining and entertainment. Her walls were decorated with photographs by her daughter Alina. We were so impressed, we purchased 7 pieces of original art that were gallery worthy. Alina will be a recognized Cuban photographer for many years to come. Simply said, we became a part of Ana's extended family from North Amercia. If you visit Cuba, then you must stay with Ana. Ana and her B and B is an authentic and true Cuban beauty. Absolute gem.…
La Casa De Ana is a top notch acommodation. Ana makes you feel at home and will help you get where you want to go within Havana. Located near "The Factory" where you can enjoy modern Cuban art and music performances. My last night I got to see The National Symphonu Orchestra of Cuba peform. What a magical suprise!

La Casa de Ana B&B in Havana is definitely the best place to stay in Havana. The accommodation is outstanding, with the most amazing host, great rooms, super breakfast! This has been my chosen destination for holidays on numerous occasions. After spending a week here on my last holiday, Ana organized a trip to the Country and everything went smoothly and had an amazing time. Cannot wait to return next holidays! This Casa stands out for all positive reasons, everything is of an excellent standard. The location is great, you are really living among Cubans and near of a lot of good restaurants and night time activities in tourist oriented areas, and close rather early so as not to disturb the tourist ! … crazy but true! Ana is the best host you can find and wish for ! She knows everything to ensure your stay the best it can be, and advise you about transportation, money, best ways to travel, places to visit! I have asked some unique questions in the past and yes Ana made it happen! Ana organized for airport pick up service, that I recommend for just 30 CUC normal price you are picked up at the airport arriving at La Casa de Ana very relaxed and happy. The rooms are spacious with good Air Conditioning and Fan for a nice sleep. The beds are large and comfortable, the bathrooms up to standards, and the linen and towels are super clean. The whole Casa is spotlessly clean you can walk without shoes your feet will be spotless, I did it !. The standard of noise is far lower than in other places, this is so appreciated! The breakfast is amazing, the value for money in this accommodation in Havana is well balanced and recommended. I booked directly from their website and got a treat of a 20% discount from the nightly rate straight away. Definitely, a place to be! Would not stay anywhere else!!! When you have stayed and the best you can forget the rest!!…
I am returning to Ana´s house on my third visit to Cuba. I always choose her house because of Ana´s qualities as a host and the location and comfortability of the house. I want to thank her and her staff for their hospitality and willingness to make our stay special. One of the special treats of staying at Ana´s is that she can arrange your trip to other parts of the country, a service that we were willing to use this time when visiting Trinidad and Varadero. Thanks so much for the love that you spread, Ana!
Ana's home was impeccably clean, great location and amazing company. Highly recommended! Breakfast was delicious, the staff was always willing to help with recommendations of places to visit, transportation to take and even chat about their life in Cuba. Our visit would not have been the same if we didn't stay at Ana's
