The hotel is located within walking distance of the old city center. We could enjoy the sunrise from the balcony of the room. It was fantastic. You could hear the buzz of the city but it was not disturbing. Good spot to make a tour with the famous olds mobile cabs. The personnel was very friendly and the receptionist Michael was extremely helpful. Good and affordable food served in the bar. The breakfast was good.
DLook at the attached pics to see the state of this hotel. Utter waste of money. Rooftop bar non existent...the rooms on 3rd floor dont have windows, the doors which access views to terrace and seaview do not work, their frames are broken and delapitated. We had to change rooms because there was a facilities door in the room which has electric pipes. Couldnt not be locked. Staff could not provide keys to lock. Downstairs toilets had no toilet paper. Couches at reception filthy...see attached pics. Breakfast is not worth the money you pay for. Total disaster of a government run hotel. Luckily we we stayed one night.
Location of this hotel is amazing as its gives a great base for exploring old Havana! Building has great history being owned by a wealthy ship building family and history is provided in the room plotting the history over the years. As it turned out, the rooms our party stayed in used to be part of a brothel hehe! Rooftop area is lovely with great views, it's also right by the cruise ship terminal and large flea market which is good for a mooch around and souvenir hunting. Bar and service was good, breakfast was varied and fresh, staff wanted to please which sums up the Cuban people. Down side for us was the cleanliness of the room. Sheets were clean but pillows lumpy and duvet had an unpleasant odour. The safe in the room did not work and was not attached to anything so had to take all our belongings with us that evening. We stayed for one night as we did Havana overnight as a trip from Varadero. It may be that we were given the worst rooms?…
On the main drag down from the ship terminal, this lovely old hotel is in a 200 year old building. Gorgeous architecture, friendly staff, we could sit on the upstairs terrace and watch the harbor or sit on the downstairs patio and people watch. Will definitely come back.
Just a few minutes walk from the busy square and restaurant this lovely hotel is set next to the harbour. The harbour is used by locals to commute back and forth to work so don't expect a glamorous view. It's industrial but a good way to see the real Havana. Our room did face the busy road and was noisy but your in a city!! A city who's transport is 50 years old!! That's why your there....! The room was a large tiled old fashioned style/Spanish influenced. We didn't have windows we had large door that went onto the huge balcony which is shared with other, although I think we were the only people there. Everywhere was clean. Sunloungers a bit old and falling apart but we're could sit on the seats. Breakfast was simple, hubby had an omelette and I had a toasted cheese roll and we had coffee and juices. Staff we very happy to see us and helped us when needed. I enjoyed this hotel. Yes noises and based round beside the locals and their homes but is that not what you go on holiday to Havana to see, the culture of others. Everywhere within walking distance. …
I needed to access the internet for work reasons - this hotel provides 1/2 hour access at 2 CUC and 1 hr access at 3 CUC. Given we were parked in the plaza outside, this seemed the best option, along with an enjoyable cocktail or two in the bar.
Nice hotel and staff. There is wireless internet and a nice bar. in the evening it is busy and no need to go into town. the breakfast is also delicious. the staff is helpful. at the top is a nice roof terrace is again appreciated
The location is acceptable, some 600 metres from the heart of old Havana. Rooms facing the street are noisy as windows do not close properly. I paid EUR 155.00 per night for a double room at this hotel for a stay in February. We got a smelly, dark room for this price, half of the bulbs not working, windows not closing properly, toilet paper absent in the bathroom, etc. Breakfast was an absolute joke as no fruits were available, joghurt was served in Bourdeaux wine glasses, because no other type of glassware available. Ham and cheese of the cheapest type you can imagine. Coffee undrinkable. Staff at the reception OK, waiters at the restaurant looked frustrated or at least demotivated - not surprising. The price absolutely does not match the value. Havana hotels are very expensive in general now, but this is way too much.…
Stayed here for two nights on an organised tour. One of our party slept in a sleeping bag liner for the first night as her sheets were dirty. We had dirty towels. The water was luke warm. Our bedroom and bathroom floors were both dirty. We complained to our guide the next morning who told us we were the first people to ever complain about it! They did sort out some issues. The lift only worked intermittently and had no lights. Again this was sorted out before we left. The casas we had stayed in before on our tour were all clean and the people lovely. They had pride in their homes. Best to stay in a casa.
We stayed in this hotel for a week in September. The city was just recovering from the hurricane and there was a slight problem with water on day 1 - but it was fixed! Rooms were great - spacious, balcony, view of the harbour. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. At breakfast although we were given quite a comprehensive menu, most items weren't available. The hotel is in a great position - walking distance to the plaza's and market. At night you can walk up to the top of the hotel, where there are chairs and tables (take your own drinks) and admire the view.... great place to sit and relax.
