Summary (details below): rather overpriced, "4 star" hotel which in reality amounts to 2 stars at best. Standards have clearly crumbled; former glory has slid into what can only be described as a tourist trap. Keep your money for a nice "casa particular" instead.

Always change money at banks, not hotels. The hotels take a high percentage skim off the top of the exchange. We were advised to change $US to Mexican Pesos before we entered Cuba. The exchange rate for Mexican Pesos to Cuban CUC (the visitor currency) was much better than $US to Cuban CUC.
