No one cleaned the room on day 2 of my stay. On day 3 I reminded the reception before stepping out, and when I came back 6:00pm again the room was not cleaned. It’s been 2 days of no cleaning, I had call the manager to get it cleaned immediately and had to wait outside the room for 1 hours. For all this the hotel did not even offer a complimentary gesture of some credit on the bill or at least a free drink. Very Poor customer service. It was cold and Heating would not come on. Had to wear extra socks and sleep.

We have had a lovely 3 night stay in this excellent hotel. All of the staff are polite and friendly, there’s a really useful shuttle bus service into the old town which was great. We had a problem with the door to our room not locking properly, we were offered a new room straight away without asking for one, we thought they would just send someone up to have a look at it, the new room was bigger and had a sea view, we also got a letter of apology and a complimentary bottle of rum! So cannot fault the customer service. The facilities at the hotel are excellent, lovely pool area overlooking the sea, would definitely recommend this hotel

A good hotel with many service, pool and professional persons. The only limit is that you must pay only with credit cards that are accepted. No cash. For this reason I can't give more as score because the clients must be respect even when want to pay cash

Check in was Quick and Efficient. Booked a Suite so we're given entry into the Level lounge. We arrived in our Suite at around 7 pm after a full day of Travelling. After our suitcases were dropped of and we were shown around our room I nipped out onto the balcony for a quick cigarette. My husband came onto the balcony to say oh let's go to the lounge for a snack and drink. He closed the balcony door and locked us out. Unfortunately the door locks automatically so there was no way back into the room. We were trapped on the balcony till a guest 3 rooms away came out onto his balcony and we got him to ring reception to set us free. Trapped for around 4 hours on a balcony in the dark we were cold tired and hungry, not a good start to any holiday. The Suite was what we expected and met our expectations. Breakfast Buffet had a reasonable variation of foods but however everything was stone cold and tasteless. Butter was disgusting. Fruit was a major let down. Unripe pineapple, unripe watermelon 🍉. Guava and Papaya disgusting. No Orange Juice available whatsoever. Only 2 eating places the Italian and Snack Cafe. No Pillow Menu for room service available. The App on the TV 📺 was disabled so I went to see the lady outside of the level. After trying for a hour I was then told I could order something from the Snack Cafe or the Italian and then go and pick it up. What a Joke and they were not able to tell me what I could order. This is not Exceptable on any level. Another night going to bed hungry. We did have sandwiches at the Cafe and they were nice. We ate in the Italian 3 times in a week for our evening meal. Had Spaghetti Bolognise and it was just plain Spaghetti with a bit of beef mince on top . This went uneaten. Cheese Pizza ordered on the 2nd visit was Delicious, 3rd Visit was Mushroom and Olive Pizza again this was dreadful. Ceaser salad was served as a bit of lettuce tomato and a bit of egg not even any dressing. We had breakfast once in the Level and it was basic again with no orange juice. Twice we had a couple of sandwiches in the afternoon at the lounge but there was never no food put out . Just a nightmare. I don't drink much alcohol but if I do have 1 I like a nice drink with decent vodka and a good mixer, you will only get Domestic Spirits and the most dreadful cheap flat cola. They didn't provide any snacks in the Level lounge in the evenings. This is the worse Lounge that I've had the misfortune to ever use and in my lifetime I've used many. The Pool area needs a good refurbishment the Sunbeds are falling apart disgraceful to try and call itself a 5 star Hotel. Housekeeping did a really good job the Lady did an Excellent Job. Melia you need to do much better

For la habana it’s an ok hotel, it’s kind of clean, old but well maintained, 80% of the people is nice (the other 20% is rude I think it is because they are having a bad day), the breakfast is amazing, the Italian restaurant and the coffee shop are ok, If it is your first time in Cuba carry with you a lot of cash money since people are always expecting tips or gifts. Of course it’s no a regular 5 hotel and I would recommend people to bring snacks like almonds potato chips Coca Cola their own dressing sauce and coffeee since it’s hard to find any of these things. The pool is nice but the people from the front desk will not know basic things like when to book the bus that Takes you to the old city.

Response from Frederik Andersen Stahl, General Manager at Melia Habana
Responded Dec 30, 2022
Dear Parisfriend We have received your comments about your stay, which we will follow up on. We have been surprised with some, since the exchange rate that mention of $120.00 x 1 usd is the official rate in the country. our rooms are spacious, open, have a balcony, something that is unusual in urban hotels, and this can make the noise feel closer. Regarding the inconvenience with the keys and the distance to the reception, we have taken actions to minimize its effects . In relation to the pool, it is considered one of the largest in the country's hotels. Best regards.

- A plaque mentioned the hotel was inaugurated by Fidel Castro in 1998. It looked like a 1980s building to me... - Main complaint: The rooms were rather worn out (old beds and furniture, rusty bathroom equipment, flimsy wall sockets...), nowhere close to a modern 5* hotel. At least, the rooms/bathrooms/balconies were huge. - The location might not fit everyone as it's a 20-minute drive from the old city (a taxi costs 10-20 USD with mild bargaining). However, the hotel offers a modern shuttle bus to/from the city several times per day for free, which was a service we enjoyed! - Breakfast was not like the best 5* hotels you've been to, but was above average and covered all needs* - The pool was large and there was a nice bar with stools in the water. - The was a gym with all the basic equipment to keep fit. - The hotel personnel was courteous and helpful when needed (provided explanations for the shuttle bus, and offered to call our travel agency to confirm pick-up details). *We've noticed that coffee throughout Cuba was rather bad and milk was hard to find or had an unusual texture and flavor --both these observations applied in Melia Habana too, but we won't hold it against them :)

Dear eliashan, Dear eliashan It is a pleasure that our clients send us their opinions about the experience they had during their stay at the hotel, and if the description is extensive, we doubly appreciate. Indeed, the hotel is undergoing a process of updating its facilities, which includes, above all, the rooms and the gym. Thanks again, for letting us know. Sincerely,

I had high hopes for this hotel and I mainly booked it because it was part of the Melia chain which i had good experience of in Europe. However the poor customer service started at checkin. The hotel had just had a power cut (not their fault) and the the checkin system had not rebooted correctly so they were not able to checkin guests. To cut a long storey short we waited in reception while this was resolved - 2 hours in total!. We were all tired as had been awake 24 hours due to travelling but were not even offered water let alone anything to eat. I spoke to the manager who could not have cared less! I was hoping things would get better but unfortunately not. The service in the pool bar was slow and unfriendly. The average wait was 20 mins even if there was not one else waiting, because staff would be interrupted or generally not seem to know what they were doing. The service in the Italian restaurant was even worse, with wrong food being brought out and a wait time of an hour from ordering. And when it did arrive the quality and amount was very poor for the price paid (see picture). The quality of the room was ok and met expectation (although we did get a club room), and the pool are was nice although needed maintenance (loose wood on steps, loos tiles on pool floor). However the general lack of service was enough to put me off every returning to this hotel or recommending it to others.

Dear Milton Keynes Appreciated mr Thank you for sending us your opinions, it is always important to know what the experience of our clients is, their satisfaction is our best gift, and obviously we have not achieved it. Unfortunately we did not know about them until now, it would have been excellent if they had told us during the stay. However, from the moment we received the opinion, we have organized the actions that prevent incidents such as those described from occurring without doing anything about it. We look forward to your next stay, and we hope that these inconveniences have not affected your decision to choose us again. Sincerely,
