It was the last station before leaving Cuba, so we had the chance to check a few Casa Particulares by then, but this by far, was the best casa, and all thanks to Eduardo, the owner. It all started when the casa we were supposed to stay in - was fully booked. The owner took us to Eduardo, who was patiently waiting until we decide if we are interested to stay there or not. Here is the down side - We were 3 people and stayed in the smaller room, so it was a little dense for 3 suitcases. But that's about it. Eduardo is such a kind and modest person, and that made our stay there so great. He helped us to carry the suitcases to the second floor, and made tons of phone calls for all the activities we wanted to do in 2 days. Breakfasts were great, we did laundry in his place, the water stream was great, there were an air condition, a fan, a refrigerator and a safe in the room. The design of the house is amazing, and Eduardo, in his quiet manner, would make you feel as welcome as possible. The best thing about this casa is the location which is the best you can find in Havana. I guess the reason for the little number of reviews is that the official name is Suite Habana 416. Perfect!…
I did not stay at Suite Habana, but had three friends who did. We often met at their casa for drinks, or to sit on the lovely balcony and look out over the street. Faure and Eduardo were so welcoming. They were not intrusive, but were definitely more than just landlords. The attention to detail is evident in the decoration, and the rooms are comfortable and clean, with refrigerator and en suite bathroom. The living areas are spacious and comfortable. We had a birthday party there one night, and Faure and Eduardo were so hospitable. They helped us with some of the preparations, made some fried plantains, and visited with us for a while. They are just wonderful people, and my friends were delighted with their stay. We all enjoyed the times we spent at Suite Habana.
First time in Havana with my husband and I loved it! We couldn't choose a better place to stay. Rooms are comfortable and you have your own bathroom. Faure and Eduardo were so lovely and kept the place always clean and tidy. You do not need to look for a 5 stars hotel to have a 5 star service. I loved the time we spend with them having breakfast in the morning or chatting in the living room. Amazing breakfast with lots of colourful and tasty fruits, coffee and delicious scrambled eggs. The location is also great.....bars, restaurants and live music always at the door step and it is not difficult to move around Havana with so many taxis around. I wish I could come back one day and stay again in Suite Habana! Thank you once again to Eduardo and Faure!! I will definitely recommend this B&B to everybody…
I visited habana two times a year and I always stay at suite habana with Eduardo & Faure , the house is located in e very convenient area just steps from all the mains squares of the Old Habana , there are plenty of restaurants where you can find the best cuban food , you can always as The guys where to go as they know all the right places, you can also have your breakfast at the house and Eduardo can organise you dinner with all the local products. You will have daily house keeping that will change your towels and keep your room clean to spot till the end of your visit. I'm definitely coming back next year
Suite Habana is owned and operated by brothers Faure and Eduardo. Their 1950's casa is a 2nd floor walk-up in the heart of Old Habana. Their casa is the only one on the floor and has 12-13 ceilings so there is a grand sense of space. There are 2 rooms for let, each has a double & single bed but realistically best suited for a couple as the single bed served as our dresser. Bathroom is as we expect for North Americans, air conditioning was there but we didn't need it preferring to have the windows open. Living room, dining room, and sitting area were communal. Many times, we simply sat together to talk, drink and eat... Virtually every destination in Habana Veija was a short walk - 1 minute to Obispo and all its shops & restaurants; 10 minutes to the Capitolio, 10 minutes to the 4 major plaza's but each walk will be slow and leisurely. The walk along the Malecon to Hotel Nacional will take 90 minutes but it's a great walk along the seawall with sun and a breeze. Faure handles the cleaning and maintenance while Eduardo takes care of food. Of the 3 casa's we stayed at in Cuba, the breakfast by Eduardo were head and shoulders "the best". Assorted fruit, juices, pastries, cheese, coffee, eggs and meat if you wanted. For dinner, we ate with Faure & Eduardo a couple of evenings during our 5-night stay - we paid for the food under the condition that we went shopping with Eduardo and allowed us to help. Eduardo shopped at the same local market (no tourists here) as the one Anthony Bourdain visited!!! When people say, "you don't go to Cuba for the food..." they are correct when talking about resort food that's been sanitized to the lowest common denominator...but definitely eat Cuban home cooking if you're looking for really flavourful comfort food. Our travel philosophy is to see a country through its food, who grows it, how it's made and cooked...we can confidently say that the people of Cuba know how to make the limited types of food available to them, taste wonderful and comforting. We learned of so many ways to make back beans & rice taste different and wonderful each time and Eduardo knows how to prepare & cook (he learned from his father at a well-know restaurant in Varadero) traditional Cuban foods. Faure is always cleaning and making sure everything is neat & tidy. He typically will clean your room every couple of days but will adjust to whatever schedule you wish. Laundry done if you wish, etc., etc. Eduardo's English is somewhat limited but Faure's is pretty good, so if you can cobble together some Spanglish, you'll learn a lot about the Cuban people, its culture and how they seem to make everything work or not work (after all, this is Cuba). Suite Habana is by no means an elegant Cuban colonial home but Faure and Eduardo work extremely hard to make sure that guests enjoy their stay in this safe and clean Habana Veija home. Eduardo y Faure, Lourdes y I look forward to the next time our paths should cross!!!…
Wonderful breakfasts, very comfortable rooms and a great location. This B&B is on the 2nd floor, above a restaurant in Plaza Vieja. We were offered it by Cuba Direct and it's a real gem. Raul has decorated the rooms beautifully. Comfortable beds, lovely paintings and chandeliers and a huge bathroom. The breakfast terrace looks over the square. Good suggestions for local Paladar restaurants.
