We have just come back from a trip to Cuba and had the pleasure of staying in Casa 1940 for one night, while in Havana. The location of this casa is great and it has a nice balcony. The manager is a lovely lady who cooked up a great Cuban breakfast for us. And most importantly, because of the humidity,...

I highly recommend this Casa for anyone staying in Havana. Beautifully furnished with period furniture and decor whilst private and comfortable. The bedroom has air conditioning and a wall-mounted fan and was therefore very cool to sleep in during the night. The apartment is a a short walk to the city centre & old Havana. The balcony gives a slight...

A home away from home in Havana. Four of us rented this spotlessly clean two bedroom apartment for one week. Only one block from the Malecon with a view of the sea from our private balcony. Centrally located within easy walking distance of Viejo, Vedado and of course Centro Habana. Wonderful hostesses who made us feel like family and who...

we arrived at the casa at 3 in the morning after our delayed flight. Someone was waiting for us and they gave us access to this flat where we were the only ones staying, the room was comfortable, the host let us sleep very late and organised our breakfast at 11:30am in order for us to have as much sleep...

Can't say enough nice things about this place. Dori and her other, Maria, took amazing care of us. The 3 room apartment (2 bedrooms, a large dining/seating area, with a (very clean!) bathroom) was comfortable and our hosts went out of their way every day to make sure we had what we needed. While another review reported difficulties understanding Dori,...

I spent about a week in the Casa 1940. The room is more like a flat, and that's great. You will have close to 75m2 of accommodation for you. The flat is on 2nd floor, pretty steep ones and is adjacent to the casa particular owners, on San Lazaro street, 100m away from the famous Malecon. On the plus side,...

This is a long overdue review of Luis and his two properties in this area. We went two years ago and again this past February. 2 years ago we stayed in Casa 1940 which is owned by Luis. He greats you at his Casa 1932, provides a warm welcome and drink upon arrival. He is very pleasant as is everyone...

From our arrival at the start of a 7 day stay in Casa 1940 - we three were all made to feel so very welcome by Doris and Maria. Nothing was too big a request and always ensuring that our needs were met, whether that was hiring cars to transport us to the airport or handy hints on staying safe...

I stayed at Casa 1940 for 3 nights at the start of my stay in Cuba, and its run by the supreme, mother and daughter team of Dorys and Maria. Its in a very central part of Havana, and you can see the Malecon from the balcony, Havana Vieja is 5 minutes away. This part of town appear quite rough...

We loved staying here. Initially when we arrived at the faded door and very old Casa Particular blue and white sign we thought we had the address wrong. When we were led up the stairs and entered the room/apartment we were highly impressed. It is a very comfortable apartment with lovely furniture and the bedroom and bathroom were great too....
