This casa was absolutely amazing, perfect location and beautiful house. Always super clean, and your room is cleaned every day. Viktor and Mila are the nicest people I have ever met, I'm not exaggerating. They are so hospitable, and genuinely make you feel like you're at home. Once we got to Havana, our bags did not make it with us, and would be coming from Madrid the following day. Viktor and Mila lent us their clothes to wear for the day, so lovely, and then that night Viktor waited up until 4am to receive our bags for us. They were so helpful and made our trip in Cuba. Better than a 5 star hotel. We also had dinner here one night - it was delicious! One of the best meals we had in Cuba.
The location is great, between la habana vieja and miramar, a very nice place with big rooms, great food and the owners are very nice and always ready to help you with any of the difficulties you might have.
This was the first casa we stopped at in Cuba in our 2-week trip. We arrived late and tired and we did't know yet what to expect from Cuba and its people and casa hosts. The next eve I have already been dancing salsa with Carmen and Lidia, while my boyfriend must have thought I had been crazy hit by the sun :) We loved this place a lot because of the people. I can't say anything special about its location, as this is Vedado where more or less houses are all the same. YOu'll have to get a cab to Havana Vieja for around 10-15 CUC. Rooms are clean and quiet enough with a small shower and aircon. The living room and dining space are nice, the food is served with great attention and useful tips for travelling around Havana and the country. The casa also has a beautiful terrace overlooking the Linea street, quite a comfortable place to watch people as a newcomer in the country. It was a super cool stay, for which we are very much thankful to the hosts.Hope to see you again once, xx…
Casa Viel is just perfect. We stayed only one night but we were impressed from the hospitality we received. The hosts were really great and helpful. The casa itself is very beautiful and clean. The casa has good location in Vedado with restaurants and bars close by. I highly recommend it!
Casa Viel is great! The rooms are super clean, the food is great, the atmosphere is amazing.... but Victor, Mila and Lidia are the greatest people you may wish to meet when travelling. Incredibily helpful, keen to recommend you the nicest places in Havana, they treat you as part of their family! My friend Ivana and I spent there two nights but I feel like I found a family in Cuba! I really hope to meet them again! So much love in Casa Viel!
This is my long overdue review of Casa Viel. I am a hotel manager myself, so I have rather high standards when it comes to my accommodations (Annabelle Inn, Aspen, CO). We arrived at Casa Viel on a very hot day after 6 or 8 hours of car travel with our four year old in tow, she was being a very good girl I might add. Havana was extremely busy that weekend. The first casa we'd booked was not up to snuff (left a disaster by the previous occupants not the fault of the proprietor I think). We were without accommodation in a very busy city. Somehow we fount the Casa Viel. Three weary and edgy travelers arrived to find a fine welcome. There was a cold beer and a glass of cold milk for our daughter too! As I mentioned, Havana was filled to the rafters. There was a water shortage. We could only find 8 oz bottles, everything larger than that was being hoarded. Casa Viel had their own emergency supply, bonus points. Thus, at the end of that long hot travel, we got to take a hot shower. It was a great spot to sit and car spot. The breakfast the next morning, served on the front porch, was excellent. Fresh fruits, juices, pancakes, and information. Victor and Milagro both took the time to talk with us; they were extremely patient with my 'Spanish'. They helped us find a driver for some of the more hard to access spots we wanted to visit. Their hospitality is unsurpassed. They even let our daughter use their nieces toys. The building itself is a grand old home. Our room with private bath was very comfortable and perfectly clean. The ceilings are high, the furnishings fit right in with the colonial building, which is beautiful. There is a great library/sitting room for an entry and the guest rooms are located on the quietest side of the house. There is a small store on the corner and several good restaurants in the neighborhood (I was always in favor of the Cathedral and their 1 CUC mohitos). Once again Victor and Milagro sat down with our map and offered many suggestions, but really nailed the final picks. I'm certain there are more luxurious places to stay in Vedado, but none could be more hospitable or professional. I really, really, really, hope we get to return. Charley…
Stayed from Dec 9 thru 21st 2015....went on my own and was treated like part of their family. Cannot say enough good things about Victor, Lydia and Milagros. They ALL went out of their way in every possible way each day. Great location, breakfast along with amazing hospitality.
My wife & I stayed here for 3 nights. We loved the hosts, Victor & Milagros, and the location was perfect for us. Close to the Malecon, Cementerio Colón, FAC, etc.. We felt welcomed from the minute we arrived and the hosts did everything they could to help us. I would highly recommend & we would stay there again.
I stayed 4 nights at the end of the year. Milagros and Victor are really nice hosts.. They served us healthy breakfast. They told me about the politic issues, and told us about the lives of Cuban people. The room was clean, and the air conditioner is available. Especially, I am poor at speaking English as well as Spanish, but Viktor can speak English how I can understand easily. I recommend to you all over the world. gracias!
Milagros and Victor are a magical couple and we cannot stop speaking about them ever since we stayed with them for 4 nights in November. We feel like with them, especially with Victor's intelligent stories and Milagros' knack of organising things, we have come closer to tasting the real Cuba!
