We stayed in this wonderful old, traditional Spanish hotel in the centre of Havana for 5 days. The saying goes : Location, location, location. Well this hotel fits that perfectly. Smack right bang at the big square in Havana couldn’t be better situated. On our arrival at the next hotel we realised that we had left shirts in this hotel. The concierge, Julio César Moralles went above and beyond to arrange for transportation of the forementioned shirts to new hotel in Varadero without charge to us. Hence the title of this review. He couldn’t have done more or try harder & for that I’ll be forever grateful. Thank you Julio.
Considered to be one of the best hotels in Havana but really no where near 5* Our Colonial Room was large but no facilities such as a kettle or coffee etc. Bed was large and comfortable but the room needed dusting and bathroom door and wardrobe doors were stiff to shut. Bathroom was large and shower was good. The room colour was drab and dated. Breakfast was buffet style with a wide range of options including omelettes cooked to order. fruit juices were rather strange. Bread is poor quality but there is a man tasting it constantly. Great view from the rooftop pool area. Impossible to get through the front door without a barrage of hustlers asking if you wanted a taxi etc. The hotel really does need to address this. Watch out in the evening for hustlers who come alongside and start chatting saying they work at the hotel and the offer to show you where there is a good restaurant which is on their way home. We fell for this once - fortunately the restaurant was not at all bad but at the end of the day day there was a request for money from the "hotel doorman" There was no threat but this sort of thing makes you wary of locals who you can never be sure whether they are being genuinely friendly or hustlers. Be aware. Having said that Havana is a safe city and we never felt at risk in any way. The Parque Central is a potentially grand hotel which with a bit more attention to detail could be so much better. It is nonetheless and excellent location…
The older part of this hotel is in a great location, with Parque Central at the front and the Prado at the side. (The newer half of the hotel, connected to the old part by a tunnel, is not quite as near to the park and Prado.) Around 100m to the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, 200m to the Capitol. Staff were very good, in the main. The pool/bar/snack bar area on the roof is a great place to grab a drink and watch the sun go down. The wifi is sometimes hard to log into, and logs you out as soon as you close your device, but is quick and free, not chargeable as the hotel website says. Room service is very effective and doesn’t come at a premium: prices are the same as in the hotel's restaurants. (600CUP or €5 for a (quite poor) Pizza Margarita.) A very good hotel, all in all, and genuinely 5 star.…
It is a beautiful place, very clean. The people are so nice and kind! The only thing is the Wi fi, not good but that's the same in all Cuba, sometimes better sometimes it is a little hard to connect. But in general the services are good, the hotel has very good location, you can see the old cars just outside of he hotel. We loved It!!!💖
Ideal location in stunning old colonial building. Good breakfast, very comfortable bed and steps from major sites. Directed to use our phone for lobby bar menu but good old fashioned cards can be had – cash only! Concierge very helpful with bookings and recommendations. Wifi spotty and spa out of service.
As “gringos” in Cuba without much Spanish, we found it hard to get information on the Jazz Plaza, etc. We so much appreciate the help of the concierges at the Parque Central Hotel. Especially Julio Cesar, an amicable and knowledgeable gentleman who helped us very much during our visit. Thank you again!
A classic city centre hotel, well positioned overlooking Central Park and the Capitol area, and adjacent to the old town. The hotel itself has an old and a modern section. We chose to stay in the old (or classic) part because it is more stylish and closer to the main amenities; the newer part is an annex. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a big bed and bathroom with shower and bath. There were no additional supplies, apart from large soap dispensers in the bathroom. So we had an empty fridge, 2 coffee cups and 2 glasses but no water or tea/coffee. The room was very clean with powerful air conditioning. One safety issue: the hairdryer was plugged into a normal wall socket in the bathroom, resting on the surface next to the wash basin; an obvious electrocution risk! Downstairs, there are a bar and two restaurants. The bar is adequate but you will need to use a smart phone to access the menu offline; nothing is printed. Service is fragmented but cheerful. They charge pesos at a 100 per euro rate, which is convenient to calculate but you should be able to get 120 elsewhere. No one comes to Cuba for the food, but at least the main restaurant offers a buffet breakfast with an egg station. It does the job, that’s all to say about it. Don’t bother to eat dinner there: over priced, poor service, and poor quality. It is worth noting that there is a significant language barrier here if you are not good with Spanish. Be patient and try to simplify requests where possible. Overall, a competent city hotel that would rate 4 stars in Europe or America. Brilliant location, comfortable rooms, and satisfactory facilities. Recommended…
Very nice hotel, just in the heart of the City. Close to all the attractions. Rooms are very clean! Great selection of dishes for breakfast. The view from the rooftop pool is stunning! The staff at reception, concierge and bars is very helpful. I cannot say the same thing about breakfast restaurant staff.
Stayed 6 nights in this fantastic location in Havana steps to the key sites. Front desk was very helpful. Thank you to concierge Julio and Eddy for organizing excursions and recommending restaurants. Very professional and friendly. In fact all staff were very accommodating. Would absolutely recommend. Roof top pool was a great place to hang out and food service was available there as well.
this is an amazing hotel with a very nice staff. the concierge will help with reservations and he knows where to eat really good. the rooms are very nice with all necessary utensils (e.g. blowdrier). the pool on the rooftop is absolutely great! the fotos below show the view from the rooftop. the bar in the lobby where you also get snacks is open 24 hours! they sell cigars there too and there is a smokers lounge. we stayed for six nights. on the minus side: one of the two working elevators is kinda moody... and the don't have a menu card in the lobbybar. they say its on the internet but you just get to the link at the moment when you connect your cell with the wifi. they really should put a qr code on the tables or at least some menues... and a couple of times the electricity went out but just for a short time. over all it was an amazing experience and definitly worth staying there!!!…
