This historic property is a must see if you are in Havana. We stayed there for three nights and while it is not like staying at a 5 star in the states, it is a 5 star for Cuba. Meals in the cafeteria were not to our taste but eating in the dining room was special. The pianist was excellent.... More

This was our second stay at the National in four years, the last visit in 2012 This time we were on the Executive Level which has its own check-in on the 6th floor. Breakfast is served in the formal dining room on the first floor. The hotel is steeped in history and affords a majestic location. Although it needs upkeep,... More

This proud historic hotel needs a lot of help. On our trip in December, 2015, we stayed in three different rooms. The first had a dirty, smelly carpet. The second stunk of cigarettes and was not clean. The final room, which had been "updated" was an improvement with a tile floor and a wonderful view of the ocean. But, the... More

Where to begin with this review? Start with the positive. The hotel is absolutely steeped in history and around every corner of this large establishment there will be a surprise. The staff are warm and friendly and extremely courteous and helpful at all times. In terms of dining there are many options and we particularly enjoyed the Barraca outdoor dining... More

Everyone who visits Havana wants to stay in this hotel and the hotel is expensive for Cuba. This hotel can boast alot history and I would recommend staying here just one night so you can experience the history. The loved the rooms, some people would say the rooms are worn and tired but I felt the rooms had stay exactly... More

This place is way overpriced. Tired and worn with musty rooms. Still, in this city you have little choice as most of the decent accommodation in the Old town is always full. Don't take the yellow tok tok motorcycle cabs outside the hotel as they will rip you off very badly. Their meters suddenly jump in large amounts. Should be... More

Hotel National has a veneer of luxury but when you look closer you see that it's tired and worn. It's badly in need of renovation. The mechanicals and electrical systems are worn. The elevators are old, the plumbing in the bathrooms is ancient (but mostly works) and the electrical outlets are so worn that a plug will not stay in... More

The vast Hotel Nacional was built during Cuba's American period (1930s) and is undoubtedly a building of historic significance with many famous guests including Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole. The building is tired and badly in need of major refurbishment to bring it up to 21st century standards even using a Cuban yardstick. Our room was on the first... More

The Hotel Nacional is like a glimpse into a time when Style and Pleasure were words Synonymous with travel. It is so stylish and the pride the staff take in sharing it with you is very heartwarming. The entertainment, the food choices, the optional tours, the front of house staff are all memorable .The grounds, the architecture, the fixtures;all memorable.I was nursing as broken heart and it...
