Bad parts: -very dirty -the breakfast was poor and the area wasn’t clean -the staff is so slow + Good parts: location +wifi +views +nice pizza at the pool bar +great massage + 24h coffee and drinks. Outside the hotel they have nice cuba cars🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺
Cannot comment on the rooms. We went for lunch and drinks for the infamous ocean view. The terrace was divided into different areas and you can only sit in the area where you order. The service staff were not only rude but actively ignored us. When I asked what was on the menu, one female server just looked at me and walked away. After about half an hour we just left to eat elsewhere. So glad I didn’t actually stay in this place.
We had all you can eat breakfast at Hotel Nacional de Cuba andf were pleasantly surprised by the varity of food offered for breakfast; chees, cold cuts, yogurt, fresh fruit, eggs, bread, pastries etc. all for 500 pesos.
It is a historic hotel and a fabulous building. I highly recommend staying at this hotel but, be careful with your expectations. It is an old hotel that is in need of renovation. Its value is mainly in the experience. As if we were travelling back in time. The lobby, the restaurant, the garden with sea view and terrace, everything is wonderful. The breakfast on the 6th floor has a beautiful view. The pool is excellent. The shops are very useful. The service, however, is miserable. Only a few staff are friendly. The porters and restaurant staff are super friendly and fun. The reception staff and the rest of the staff have unprofessional behaviour for those working in tourism. The administrative disorganization is total.
We were changed to this hotel due to the Sevilla being closed . The look of the hotel from the outside is beautiful . Internally the surroundings and rooms are very sad looking . When we arrived to be check in we were greeted with a smile and our bags were taken up to our rooms . The elevators were very random , sometime they worked and sometimes they didn’t and as I have an anxiety of lifts this did not fill me with confidence . The rooms were a good size and were clean . When we arrived at the bar for our welcome drink we were totally ignored by all the bar staff and waiters. They were busy but an acknowledgement would have been appreciated . We ate in the restaurant as we were tired and hungry . The food was reasonable . The location of the hotel is quite a distance from the centre so we spent quite a bit of money getting taxis too and from the centre . You can tell this hotel would have been stunning in its day but sadly not now.…
We had been booked into the Hotel Sevilla bit as this was unable to reopen was offered the Nationale. Having been initially concerned this was 20 -30 minute walk to the Old Town, the taxi service from the hotel was easy and walking back down the Malecon easy, if not sometimes drenching from the waves 😂. The hotel is old and historic and interesting. The room was to a reasonable standard clean, comfortable beds, WiFi and room safe. The bathroom was adequate but lacked extractor fan so was damp. The terrace and bar service was excellent and the music pleasant. Service could be a little slow but there was a large medical conference on whilst we were there. We had breakfast included and choice was limited. Also availability of sandwiches on the terrace to just cheese and ham was a problem for vegetarians. Overall pleasant staff. We overlooked the bay and the road but the room was quiet. Glad we stayed here and would recommend it.…
The staff at the hotel were lovely & friendly but it was like staying in a museum. It was built in 1930’s & of course it has amazing history BUT not everyone wants to be stuck in time. It’s 21st century & Nacional aren’t catching up. The grounds, the tour with Aileen & atmosphere, fantastic & at first the cranky lifts etc are charming. It’s not 5* when it comes to food or the rooms, they could still modernise & keep the aesthetics & it look better. Worth a visit but wouldn’t stay again
This hotel is old and lacks maintenance. Once it was a 5 star hotel. Not any more. Room is clean, but floor and furniture is old and / or broken. Little or no warm water in shower. No or very bad isolation both from outside noise and from inside hotel. Hearing loud noises from outside (cars and music) until at least mid night. And hotel staff is walking around in the hotel all night, speaking out loud. The door to the hotel room is not isolating. Therefore we woke up several times *every* night. Also one of the cleaning ladies went into our room 0500 am (!!!) First knocking, then opening the door and walking in asking if We had left the room. (???) 4 elevators. 3 constantly not functioning. OK breakfast. If the hotel was 2 stars. The hotel id 5 stars so I guess not. Main restaurant har an OK lobster for dinner, which is also cheap. The staff is friendly, but the outdoor bar in the back yars has too much to do, makes bad drinks and the bartenders outside is never smiling. Only positive thing about this hotel is that it looks nice from the outside and also it has a lot of history. I will never book this hotel again. But if its your first time in Havana, might be worth to visit the hotel as a museum.…
Gorgeous Hotel. Great location. Great food. I was expecting to pay more for food and beverages as it is such a classic hotel. Prices were about 1/3 less than other places. Service was very inconsistent outside on the terrace. They could have had more wait staff and bartenders.
Am not a hotel resident however we popped in here on our first evening and enjoyed a round of mojitos which were perfect. Came back today for the hotel tour - wonderful host who has such passion for this historic hotel. Also enjoyed a coffee too and plan to go to dinner in a few days time.
