My wife and I spent two nights at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba at the end of our four-week holiday in Cuba. This was the crowning jewel of a wonderful holiday. We were astounded by this beautiful 1930s art deco hotel. The hotel foyer is classically beautiful. Our entire stay was faultless, from the pleasant concierage and receptionist service upon...

Stayed here for 4 nights in October. Lobby and public grounds are beautiful. Great view of the city and Malecon from the back area. Excellent place to enjoy a rum and soak in the whole place. Sandwiches at the bar were very good (ham and Cubans). Check-in was easy before 2pm (crowds come in). Rooms and upper floor hallways show...

We stayed here four nights while on tour in Cuba. Our room was a corner with lovely views, however, others in the group had very substandard rooms. Ours was not clean. It had a nice first impression and no complaints about the bed, bath, or location. Location is nice. There was constant work going on with paint smells and noise,...

We stayed 4 nights and loved the history and architecture of the place. Our room was large but very dated although the 1950's furniture was in very good condition. Service at all the bars was very good but breakfast whilst offering a great range of food was not top quality.

Do visit even if you can't stay and make sure to take the hotel's own tour especially if your guide is Estela - a treasure. The rooms are large and comfortable if not luxurious on a European scale. Excellent breakfast. Taxis of all kinds line up outside to take guests into the old town. Faded grandeur of the Mafia!

We wanted to stay at this old historic hotel and were prepared of its flaws. We stayed here twice, the first time on the third floor in a room towards the sea. This room was dark and smelled of mold. The air condition leaked so the carpet was wet. We had to put the waste basket under it. It was...

We visited the Hotel Nacional prior to an evening show. The interior of the hotel looked tired and the lobby area was packed with non residents, like us there for an evening show. The meal we had was poor, even accepting that Cuba has logistical issues. For instance we were expecting a Smoked Salmon first course and a Prawn Salad...

This hotel gives some sense of what life was like for tourists pre-revolution and how the culture is now trying to embrace the influx of tourists while staying true to revolutionary ideals, which is a tricky balancing act. So - you have a gorgeous, ornate and relatively well-maintained property (especially by Cuban standards, where things are often held together with...

I was hugely disappointed with the hotel nacional. I would definitely recommend visiting the gardens for a drink but don't stay here. It's horrendously overpriced. The room smells damp, we had no hot water. We had to bring our bags into the hotel ourselves (which I don't mind but the people working there were really rude and unhelpful- maybe because...

The hotel Nacional oozes tons of charm AND it has a pleasant outside garden bar where you can have a drink not even for an outrageous price (think CUC 2,50 for a beer). Also it sports a good alternative to the expensive Tropicana cabaret, the Cabaret Parisien. We walked the Malecon (seafront boulevard) from the Paseo to the Nacional, about...
