This casa exceeds expectations on all fronts. Despite previous reviews, Pepe is warm and kind, and cares for his guests. I was a solo female traveller in Cuba, and felt completely at home in this casa. Pepe was kind and gave me advice on where to go, what to watch out for, etc. All of the staff working in this... The apartment is beautifully decorated, very tastefully done. Like someone said, Rafaela passed away this year and Pepe's daughter Silvia is helping her father out for the time being. She is a lovely woman, I felt really cared for. My heart broke when she informed me that the room is not available for the next nights because they are fully... More

I stayed at this lovely casa particular for 3 days with my husband, 1 year old girl, and in-laws. I have nothing bad to say about Pepe y Rafaela's. At the time of our stay, Pepe was away on personal business (his wife, Rafaela, had recently died.) So it was their daughter, Silvia, who took care of us and made... More

This is a great casa, located in the very center of Havana Vieja (100m away from Plaza Vieja). Pepe and his daughter Sylvia (Rafaela was the wife, who passed away some time ago) are incredible hosts. They do not only prepare the best breakfast we had in Cuba, but they are also fair people who will share information with you... More

Unfortunately when we arrived, we were sadly informed that Rafaela had recently passed away. However Pepe and his daughter were super hosts. The breakfast was lovely, and the rooms were beautiful. My girlfriend was also sick at one point and they were extremely helpful. They booked us a taxi to a Viazul bus and advised us where to go and... More

I can't say enough about Pepe; he was a great host and went above and beyond in making my 9-night stay a pleasant one and in answering all my questions about the city, the country, and the culture. I had to change casas at one point (he does book up well in advance) and Pepe made sure to find me... More

This casa is right below Ana Y Surama and has exactly the same style of rooms and service, absolutely excellent. Pepe is quite a character, an older gentleman that runs his place like a pro. The location is brilliant, right in Havana Vieja next to the Plaza Vieja. Highly recommended.

We stayed a couple of nights at this wonderful casa. The interior decoration is over the top and the ceiling hight is like 5 m. We spent half of our stay in the corner room with three balconies and it really is a beautiful room. We got sick during our stay and Pepe and Rafaela took fantastic care of us... More

First of all Pepe is a great and colorful person. It is worth to stay there in this beautiful old building and spend a while talking to Pepe- the 75-years old owner. Even if you know 5 words in spanish, do not worry! The house is more like a museum or 5 stars hotel! It is just amazing! It is... More

We stayed for four nights in total with Pepe en Rafaela en we loved it. The house is a collection of Cuban knick-knacks and the birds will wake you up in the morning in a unique fashion. Pepe takes his time in explaining everything for you in slow and perfectly understandable Spanish. The breakfast is huge and the sweet ladies... More

“Life in the streets of Habana Vieja is boistrous daytime and evening, with neighbours visiting, children playing, music sounding, dogs barking. But usually things quiet down around 10:30 pm and stay surprisingly quiet till about 7:30 the next morning. The stone construction of most buildings provides good sound insulation inside.”
