We had a very pleasant stay at Madero B&B. It is very clean with modern amenities. When we arrived we were greeted with cold towel and a refreshing drink. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. There is always one person on shift, doesn’t matter how late we came back to the B&B. We had booked their larger room which was very nicely decorated, and had an ac, ceiling fan, mini-fridge with very reasonably priced water & drinks. The shower pressure was excellent! The room was facing a small alley which sometimes could hear noise from the neighborhood late at night but it did not bother us. Breakfast was simple but good which consisted of toast, eggs (the way you like it), fresh fruits plate, jam & butter and tea/coffee. We also ordered some chicken sandwiches to go when we left for the airport which were really good. The B&B is less than 5 minutes walk to Plaza Vieja area which is full of restaurants and bars and only 3 minutes walk to the ferry to go to Regla area. The neighborhood around the hotel is a bit rough but safe. We walked back late at night and never felt unsafe. We definitely recommend this B&B and hope to be able to visit again soon.

Excellent stay in the suite. The room is thoughtful with a very comfortable kind size bed, an ample bathroom with perfect water pressure, good lighting, hooks, large mirror, etc. The balcony is a beautiful place to observe everyday life in Havana vieja. Amazingly kind staff. Great location with a 3 minute walk to place vieja. I highly recommend Madero.

Madero B & B was perfect for our family of 10! My husband and I got the first floor room...so pretty and no steps. Also perfectly quiet even tho Old Havana was bustling just outside the front door. The electric dumb waiter took bags to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors where we had 2 king doubles, one triple and one single. The roof top terrace on the 4th level was a delightful place to relax, read, and listen to the lively street noise. Staff was so welcoming and helpful. Breakfasts were delicious. Just a few blocks to Plaza Vieja where we enjoyed dinner at Cafe Vitrola. A wonderful place to sty while you explore Havana.

The location is very convenient to old Havana, practically walking distance to most areas you'd want to explore by foot.
The welcome was very warm and friendly, even offered cold towels and a drink upon arrival. This however felt like a hotel, not a "casa".
However, that was it... When we got to our (small) room, water was pouring out of the A/C unit. We got a hold of staff, and then water started pouring in from the window located high above the bed. Mattress was soaked through.
The staff tried to fix the issue, but wasn't possible, instead they tried to relocate us to a room that shared a wall with the main kitchen (pots/pans were literally on the other side of the wall). As noise would be an issue, we were unable to use that room. The staff offered no further alternatives. Luckily our tour company was able to find us other accommodations.
I just wished the staff at Madero would have been more engaging and tried to help us. They just left it to us and our agency.

Dear Mr Thedane: I am very sorry that this is your impression of our staff. You arrived in MADERO B&B the day a deluge fell, it rained very hard for many hours, unfortunately the window was left open a little and your room certainly filled with water. I myself offered you another room and I also offered you the Junior Suite for the next day, but you did not accept. I can tell you that the pots on the wall are ornaments, it is clear that they are new and have never been used, therefore, The kitchen do not bothers that room, I offered you whatever you wanted and you did not want to talk to me, insted asked me to call your agency, which I was already calling because we have the best relations and of course they are the first to notify any adversity. We have never had more rude clients than you, and in 7 years of work you have been the only ones who have not wanted to stay. Our staff and our service are our pride and the reason for hundreds of positive comments.

It’s an oasis! When you walk in, you are greeted with a cold towel and fresh juice. The main area is light and bright with beautiful green plants everywhere. Instantly a calming and peaceful refuge after a long trip. The team was incredibly nice and helpful - gave us recommendations for where to eat during our stay. We had 2 rooms as a family of 4, and we were very happy and comfortable. The rooms were very clean and the air conditioning was so cool and consistent, a welcome treat after walking around Havana. The location cannot be beat— 2 blocks to Plaza Vieja and 3 other plazas — so very walkable and “in the action.” Breakfast was delicious, with eggs made fresh to order every morning. We loved our stay there and would definitely recommend Madero to anyone visiting Havana.

LOOK NO FUTHER! You have found your Havana home. The Madero B&B is exactly what you need for your authentic, and exquisite Cuban experience. I have traveled worldwide extensively, but this was my 87 years young Mom’s first international trip. From the moment we arrived, the entire staff treated us like long lost friends. And they cared for and catered to Mom as if she were their own. The room on the first floor was brightly and comfortably appointed, and easily accommodated Mom’s mobility needs. But don’t fret, if you’re in one of the rooms upstairs, they gladly offer help with luggage and other needs. The entire inn is beautifully and classically remodeled. The rooftop terrace with a glimpse of the bay, is serene and picturesque.

A paragraph about food and service. We received the most delectable breakfast made to order every morning. The chef and the manager on duty would work together to craft a meal with a variety of offerings, which grew as we began to experiment with our palates later in our stay. Even when we couldn’t fully understand the words (we speak very limited Spanish and they tried very hard with English), we bonded with laughter, and all of us reveled in the triumph of understanding through gestures. There were days when Mom didn’t want to walk anymore or go out in the heat, and the staff gladly prepared incredible sandwiches, or let us warm up leftover food from other establishments. They also offer a small variety of alcoholic beverages at a small bar. Then, there were a couple of times I went out without Mom, and both she and I enjoyed the peace of knowing there was someone available at Madero 24 hours a day, that could assist her if she needed. I am eternally grateful for this invaluable kindness.

Please know, the Madero is physically located in the reality of a typical Cuban neighborhood in Old Havana. There is life here; people going to work, laundry hanging on lines, dogs and cats in the street, children playing, etc. AND there is history and fantastic architecture and there are great cafes and restaurants in walking distance. It is a wonderful juxtaposition and our lives have been enriched by just being in the space.

We thank you, we thank you, we thank you, to everyone at the Madero. You shall forever be in our hearts!

This is a lovely place. Immaculately clean, beautifully decorated and conveniently located in Central Havana to museums, restaurants and historical sites. Upon arrival, I was met with smiling faces welcoming me with a cold cloth to refresh with, and I was immediately offered refreshments. The morning breakfast was superb. Fresh fruit, eggs cooked to order, breakfast meat of choice, the perfect cup of Cafe Cuba, and freshly squeezed juice. Served at a private table with linens. My room was sparkling clean with a comfortable bed, private bath, and a refrigerator stocked with water and beer. The always cheerful, kind staff were knowledgeable and very attentive. They were able to arrange transportation and recommend the best places to eat. Honestly, I can't say enough good things. The experience was honestly five-star plus. This Hostel is a jewel in Havana. If you have dreamed of visiting Cuba, this is the perfect place to stay. This establishment exceeded my expectations in every way possible.

Our group of 6 stayed at Madero B&B at the beginning of our Cuban adventure and again at the end. This BEAUTIFUL B&B has clean, comfortable and spacious rooms with modern bathrooms. Upon arrival we were greeted with cold refreshing scented towels and freshly squeezed juice. Our hosts arranged for taxis, helped us change money, and made excellent dinner recommendations. When there was an issue with the AC in one room, we were immediately offered a different room. Don’t miss the roof top lounge- it’s a great spot to grab a beer from your mini bar and watch the sunset. Yes, you will be staying on a real street in Cuba where real Cuban families live. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. It’s a 2 minute walk to the local main square with lots of restaurants and shopping. We would absolutely stay here again!

This quaint B & B exceeded my expectations. I stayed for 2 nights, solo traveler.

I requested a taxi pickup and they met me at the exit with a sign.

Upon arrival at Madero, I was greeted with a refreshing fruit drink and cold towel. Then showed to my room (#201). The room was clean and spacious. The entire hotel was newly renovated. The shower was clean with a waterfall shower head.
Breakfast was included and included an omelet, fresh fruit, tea and toast. The room had a mini fridge with cold water and beer available for purchase. The room had individual air conditioning and a ceiling fan. It also had a safe with key.

The location was extremely convenient. It was within walking distance to the main city center. It was also a couple of blocks from the ferry to travel to the Casa Blanca island.

This B & B provided everything - securing dinner show tickets, money changing, taxi service, etc. The hosts were extremely pleasant. They also provide lunch and dinner if requested. Staff was always someone available.

I definitely recommend this B & B and would revisit if I ever visit Cuba again.

What a fantastic find. My 18-year-old daughter and I spent four nights at Madero. The welcome and service could not have been better, loads of smiles. Juan Carlos and Lisy (the owners) are great hosts, but the whole team were excellent. The hostel is stylish, with wood features (hence the name), and more modern in design than much of what you will find in Cuba. The room was very nicely presented, with a small en suite bathroom with excellent shower. Water, A/C and Wifi worked no problem (not something to be taken for granted in Cuba!). Breakfast (included) was good quality and substantial: fresh fruit, juice, good coffee, eggs various ways and toast.

The location is perfect, just round the corner from the bars, restaurants and life of the Plaza Vieja (got a good massage at the spa there too), close to the cruise amenities - including the artisanal market (the best place to buy souvenirs), and a short walk to the rest of the sights of Old Havana. The hotel team can provide tips on where to eat and grab a cocktail. The street (Santa Clara) is beginning to develop too with some other hostels, bars and an art gallery. No need to look further if you want a few nights in Havana.
