A perfect combination of a family business, run professionally, this is a beautifully-restored hotel in the old town of Havana. We received truly excellent service, the accommodation was exceptionally clean, and breakfast was five star (in service, choice and quality). Very comfortable beds, quality sheets, quiet and efficient air conditioning, modern bathrooms with hot water all day. We were stranded at this hotel in the global lockdown and the owners and their staff kept us in fruit juices and snacks all day once the city restaurants, bars and cafes shut down and even cooked us the most delicious evening meals. We can not thank Lisy and Papo enough, not only did they check with our airline, Virgin Atlantic, that we would be on the last British rescue flight out of Cuba but they personally took us to the airport (Cuban taxis no longer taking tourists).

Excellent B&B, which more than lives up to the photos and the excellent reviews. Warm friendly team running this beautifully restored town house. Great location just 2-3 mins walk from plaja vieja. Definitely worth taking a walking tour to get orientated early on, and a car tour for the fun of the experience and to see a wider area. The madero team are only to happy to help to arrange things for you, change money, advise on the internet etc. Can’t recommend them highly enough.

Just come back from a 10 day visit to Cuba which included a 7 day tour organised by BeyondtheOrdinary who also team up with Captivating Cuba to organise bespoke small group tours around Cuba. Fantastic holiday and I can thoughly recommend their service. Both companies use Medero as their default Casa for their clients for the Havana part of their stay and I can understand why. Not only are the hosts superb with nothing too much trouble, they will even go to the bank for you and change your currency (no charge and good rate) so don't queue at the airport. Welcome drinks, lovely rooms spotless and great facilities including a wonderful roof terrace. Breakfast is fruit, fruit juice and eggs, ham etc. any way you like (we had omlettes, super) and toast with jam, all very adequate. Better still they have WiFi. You can just log-in for social media but if you want full internet you need to use one of the Etecsa cards which they sell for CUC2 (you get 1 hr for that but you can log in and out. They don't have a bar or restaurant, other than what you can buy in the room fridge, but don't worry turn right out of the Madero and walk 25yds to the Residencia, Santa Clara just down the road. Great drinks and wonderful food in their boutique restaurant/bar at half the prices you will pay in the Plaza Veija (they also have WiFi).

What a way to end our trip! Loved the fact that we were mixed in with houses in the process of being renovated so felt like we were seeing some of the "real" Havana. Beautifully decorated and an amazing welcome when we arrived. We were lucky enough to have the Junior Suite which was a real treat.

We had a group of 10 stay at the Madero and all 10 of thought the hotel was over 5 stars. The rooms were very comfortable, clean, well stocked with a mini frig, hot water, comfortable beds, spacious, very nice bathrooms and AC. The breakfast was outstanding, be sure and try the pancakes. The fresh fruit and breads every morning was exceptional. The staff that works at Madero are EXCELLENT, very considerate, professional, accomodating etc. I cannot say enough good about this great little gem in Havana.
