What a wonderful place! The staff are so lovely, attentive, and cheerful. My dad and I stayed here for four nights and were astounded by the place. We were provided with a delicious breakfast every morning, and fresh juices. The decor is brilliant, with lovely plants and lights. The rooms are very well air conditioned, with comfy beds and pillows (always an essential)!! Best mojito I had in Havana, and I tried A LOT of mojitos. The location is perfect.. right in the middle of Old Havana, you can really immerse yourself in the culture and are a walk away from all the beautiful squares and best restaurants. We were given fab recommendations on where to go from the staff, so make sure to ask for tips. Would highly highly recommend, it’s far better than the glamorous big chain hotel we stayed in in Havana. Will definitely be going back!!!

Dear Amelia. We are so glad and we feel so happy you have chosen Cuba to celebrate your 18th birthday, Thank you for that. On top, you came to MADERO B&B and stayed with us. We feel very honored with this fantastic review, knowing this place met your expectations and you felt like Home among us. Please, come back with the whole family, remember we have to share the best Mojitos in "VIAJERO".

What a fantastic find. My 18-year-old daughter and I spent four nights at Madero. The welcome and service could not have been better, loads of smiles. Juan Carlos and Lisy (the owners) are great hosts, but the whole team were excellent. The hostel is stylish, with wood features (hence the name), and more modern in design than much of what you will find in Cuba. The room was very nicely presented, with a small en suite bathroom with excellent shower. Water, A/C and Wifi worked no problem (not something to be taken for granted in Cuba!). Breakfast (included) was good quality and substantial: fresh fruit, juice, good coffee, eggs various ways and toast. The location is perfect, just round the corner from the bars, restaurants and life of the Plaza Vieja (got a good massage at the spa there too), close to the cruise amenities - including the artisanal market (the best place to buy souvenirs), and a short walk to the rest of the sights of Old Havana. The hotel team can provide tips on where to eat and grab a cocktail. The street (Santa Clara) is beginning to develop too with some other hostels, bars and an art gallery. No need to look further if you want a few nights in Havana.

We stayed at Madero B&B twice during our trip to Cuba. The rooms are clean and quiet and the staff was able to help us with some small requests and recommendations for where to go and what to do during our stay. You really get a family vibe staying there. The breakfast was also filling and delicious and they were able to easily accommodate my gluten (celiac) allergy. I also loved the before/after photos of the building prior to the renovation so you can get a sense of how dramatic a transformation they have accomplished.

The Madero was our most favorite B&B of our 3 week trio across Cuba. Good and convenient location to explore old Havana by foot, spotless rooms, helpful and very friendly landlords, in retrospective the best breakfast we had in all Cuba. Only downside: the exchange rate offered was subpar with rates offered in restaurants in Havana (recommend you check first).

A nice, clean B&B in old town with friendly staff and 5-10 min walk from the "centre" of Havanna. Nice patio where you can smoke a puro and just relax and take in the sounds of the city below. Recomend it!

This small Casa Particular is a fanrastic place to stay in Old Havana. It has been sympathetically restored and modernised. Therooms are a good size with great facilities. The staff are fabulous and offer great service. I have already booked my next stay here to continue exploring Havana.

Our group of 6 stayed at Madero B&B at the beginning of our Cuban adventure and again at the end. This BEAUTIFUL B&B has clean, comfortable and spacious rooms with modern bathrooms. Upon arrival we were greeted with cold refreshing scented towels and freshly squeezed juice. Our hosts arranged for taxis, helped us change money, and made excellent dinner recommendations. When there was an issue with the AC in one room, we were immediately offered a different room. Don’t miss the roof top lounge- it’s a great spot to grab a beer from your mini bar and watch the sunset. Yes, you will be staying on a real street in Cuba where real Cuban families live. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. It’s a 2 minute walk to the local main square with lots of restaurants and shopping. We would absolutely stay here again!

The hotel is nice but on a derilict bomb site of a street close to a great square. The dead headless chicken in the street outside the hotel sort of summed it up we were unfortunate to be dropped of at the wrong end which has a car barrier and had to pull suitcases 100 meters and damaged the wheels over the cobbled street WIFI is an extra 5 a day per room ( Euro , GBP , US or Canadian $ - they don't care or have any concept of exchange rates) but never worked when i wanted to use it in the morning because the hotel itself hadn't logged in. the room was ok but very small and nowhere to put clothes away , no cupboard and little shelving. So we had suitcases on the floor , what there was of it! no natural light in the room bathroom very nice surprisingly dumb waiter lift for luggage only but don't take a big case or you'll be lifting up the narrow stairs yourself dogs barking in the night staff really nice

Response from Luis Blanco, Marketing at Madero Bed & Breakfast
Responded Apr 15, 2022
Dear Mr. Green. We feel very sorry you are disappointed with MADERO in some way. We try very hard to satisfy our clients and work every day in order to offer a quality service. MADERO is a colonial house one century old, So our rooms have high ceilings and windows, but it is true they are small, as this is the way the house was built. Nevertheless, Rooms in MADERO are comfortable enough as all of them have air conditioning, fan, TV, safe box, and a minibar, besides open clothes hanger and Two luggage benches. During restoration we added a dumbwaiter for luggage in order to make it easy, it is big enough for almost all the luggage that has arrived until now, but if a suitcase turns to be very big and needs to be carried by the stairs we have staff to do that, it is never the client. Internet is very expensive in Cuba as the Government controls the only one company providing the service, we would love to give it for free, but it is not possible at the moment. So we charge in the currency the client wants to pay and we do have an exchange rate at the house much better than the Government one, So you can pay in Cuban pesos to our rate. MADERO is located in the middle of the old town, it is A very alive neighborhood, with people in the streets and dogs barking, that is Havanna. Finally. We really appreciate your opinion about our staff, thank you very much for letting us know.
