This has been the 4th time we stayed at Kas Hamaka and again the best accommodation you can find on Bonaire. We will be back Joop & Audrey! ... thank you for your hospitality. Love and kisses Ed & Anja :)))
Kas Hamaka is an easy few minuts walk from Kralendijk. Audrey is a fantastic host, she loves to share all the informasjon she has. Very solution oriented and always available. Rent a car from them, cheaper then other places on Bonaire and flexible when you return the car. Very clean place!
Our first visit to this beautiful island. Audrey the owner was excellent, very helpful and pleasant. Our place was bigger than I thought, 2 levels, balcony on top with view of the ocean and outside table and hammock on the lower level. Everything was clean and neat with nice homey touches. However the bathroom was downstairs making it challenging going down the steps if needed in the middle of the night! The kitchen was basic with full size fridge, gas stove and coffee maker (most important) the supermarkets there are very good and I found the prices fairly cheap for island living.
Kas Hamaka has it all: perfect location, relaxing atmosphere, delicate apartments, warm and welcoming hosts. Like other reviews says; maybe we should keep Kas Hamaka like a secrete, to make sure it’s room for us next time!?
Our family of 4 stayed at the large 2 bedroom unit at Kas Hamaka. We could not have been happier. Comfortable and affordable space, Audrey was terrific with communication, and as a bonus they arranged a truck rental with automatic transmission below market rate. Location is perfect - on the water, walk to town, walk to Dive Friends yellow submarine, and you can dive or snorkel in front of the house. Cannot recommend highly enough!
Kas Hamaka is a relaxing place, located close to city center and on oceanfront. Cosy and peaceful garden. We stayed in Lagadishi, nice two floor mexican style apartment with terrace downstairs and balcony with oceanview upstairs. It was quite warm in the evenings even when AC was on. Service was friendly, airport transfer included and late check out was possible without an extra fee.
Great place to stay. Just near the centre of Kralendijk but out of the hassle of the touristic centre (600m walk along the boulevard, not a punishment to walk along). Besides the food location the houses/apartments are great. Nicely built, durable with airco in the sleeping floor and fan. Simple but efficient kitchen with evrything available. Good bathroom (clean). Everything is well maintained. With BBQ available, a meeting place (but if you don’t feel like it you have your own terrace and hammock. The owners are more than friendly and know about the island life. They can help you out with everything you need (if needed). Good car rental, etc. Prefer the nice and clean place well over any hotel/resort (better stay there on the beach if you like but enjoy the sea view from your spacious apartment). …
Every year in May we come back to Kas Hamaka. For us it is the perfect place to stay. We stayed at apartment Prikichi, in the yellow colonial building, with a large terrace, view on the street and sea. Staying in this apartment make you feel part of the local life. Close to the center and best snorkeling just in front of the house :) Jan and Elke are fantastic hosts, nice sweet and honest people doing all they can to make your stay the best ever. We'll be back ;)
If you're looking for a Four Seasons, Kas Hamaka does not pretend to be that, nor does it have that pricing. But for a family vacation with plenty of space, a great location walkable to all the restaurants and activity in Kralendijk, and warm hosts (thanks Elke and Jan!), this is a fantastic choice. We rented a car (pick-up truck) and toured the island extensively finding great shore snorkeling spots and spots for photography. It was always nice to return to Kas Hamaka. BTW the AC works great! We even saw an eel, octopus and all sizes of fish just snorkeling at the property near the dock. Recommended for families (we were in a larger 2-bedroom + kitchen + living room) but there were other sizes for smaller parties or couples.
I loved this property, and especially the host and hostess. It is walking distance to the downtown restaurants, but still off the beaten path of traffic and cruise ship activity. You can snorkel right outside the property, although there are many other places on Bonaire. Just know that the kitchen does not have an oven, only a stove top. No microwave and no laundry. But you can hang things out to dry as there are chairs and hammocks outside everywhere. Bathrooms are great and we very much enjoyed being at this property.
