The hotel is simple ,quiet and clean. The localization is good, close to the city centre. There is a nice swimming pool as well but we didn’t have time to use it. The room is pretty comfortable with a nice bathroom and shower, air conditioner and nespresso machine. Beat and Corrinne are very helpful and nice. There is a good storage room for the diving gear and tanks. There is a nice place to wash your diving stuff after the dives. If you need to rent, the diving gear are almost brand new and of good quality. We rented unlimited tanks .
I recomend eating the swiss fondue that they offer since the owners are swiss and beat knows really how to cook it.
The double bed were two single beds together but wasn’t an issue , the bedroom could have some closets to put our clothes and breakfast was ok but could include a little more option of eggs.
We had some dives with Michael, the guide that Beat recomends and was awesome. He knows the spots very well, gives good hints, takes nice photos and helps the coral to get rid of the lionfishes, a invader species. He took us to see the ostracods at night , an amazing experience of bioluminesence. He’s a very funny and experienced german guide. Sometimes his wife Sabine goes also.
I defintely recomend staying at sonrisa if you dive and don’t want to stay at the busy diving resorts on the island. It is a good cost effective place to stay.

We had a very good time 3 weeks over Christmas at Sonrisa. Definitely because of Corinne and Beat, whom the small hotel belongs. Their service was absolutely perfect and personal. Breakfasts were very fine and we had also some homemade dinners. Pool was regularly cleaned and we also borrowed a car. The rooms in the main building are simple, but suitable for the hot weather and easy cleanable, when you come from the beach with the not every time clean shoes. Cleaning was offered every day, but we didn’t use it so often. Towels were changed every time we wanted. Hotel offers also the beach towels and a car seat blanket, when you’re driving a little wet. We would just appreciate the mosquito nets to have in the room as we like to sleep with the door open. The reconstructed rooms in front building were completely new and the nets were already installed. Location is very good for walking to the centre for a dinner, shopping and close to airport. With the car you can reach almost all the corners of the island in max 45 min. Price is fine according to the value, you get.

I spent a few days in this hotel and had a wonderful experience. The owners, who directly manage the hotel, were extremely welcoming, always ready to provide any help or give any tips on how to best enjoy the stay on the island. The hotel is close to the airport as well as very close to the center of Kralendijk, which can be reached on foot. It offers both a car rental service as well as a scuba diving gear and snorkeling gear rental service, which are both extremely useful in order to fully enjoy Bonaire. Upon arrival, the owners give guests a full briefing on what to see and do on the island and how to get to the various spots. There is a wonderful pool and a dining area right in front of it, where guests can have breakfast in the morning. Breakfast, by the way, was extremely pleasant, comprising eggs, bagels, fruit, yogurt and ham and cheese plates. I stayed in a large, well lit room, with a nice bathroom, A/C, a small fridge and full netflix access on the tv. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel, especially in terms of the services it provides, its position and the warm and welcoming attitude of the owners.

Sonrisa was the perfect choice for our holiday in Bonaire! This beautiful little boutique hotel surpassed our expectations, looking even lovelier than in the pictures.
The pool area is very inviting, and the rooms are clean, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing. Choosing Sonrisa was easy because it offered everything we needed: lovely accommodation, breakfast, and dinner on some evenings.

Most importantly, it provided high-quality rental diving gear and a rental car. It was also extremely convenient to arrange for a diving instructor through Sonrisa for an introductory dive (after which you can dive with your certified buddy) and a night dive to observe the glowing ostracods.
The hosts, Beat and Corinne, are incredibly kind and helpful, making Sonrisa the perfect place for both divers and non-divers.

I truly enjoyed my stay at Sonrisa. The owners (Corinne & Beat) are very friendly and make you feel right at home. They arranged to pick me up from the airport and also gave me tips on where to go while on the island. Renting a car from them was easy and the property is located close to the water, great restaurants, and some historical landmarks.
Corinne & Beat also arranged for me to go shore diving with Michael and Sabine. I did three days of shore diving with them and it was so much fun! They knew the best spots and made the decompression dives seem easy and care free. Michael even took beautiful photos during the dive and sent them all to me along with information on the sites we visited, depths, time, and date. This is perfect if you keep a log!
I cannot say enough good things about my stay at Sonrisa. I highly recommend it. I also highly recommend that you dive with Michael & Sabine. :)

I had a wonderful time at the Boutique Hotel Sonrisa. The rooms are spacious and cozy. You can relax wonderfully at the beautiful pool. Especially worth mentioning is the great breakfast and the family atmosphere with the Swiss hosts. The possibility to enjoy a delicious dinner several times a week was another plus. The rental of the car and snorkeling equipment was uncomplicated on site. I really appreciated and used the personal recommendations for excursions and activities (windsurfing and yoga lesson, mangrove kayaking tour and cave tour). The charming hotel is definitely to be recommended.

This property has its upsides:
close to the city, stable wifi, dive options & qualitative gear, car rental
BUT also its downsides:
a severe lack in cleanliness, service and hospitality

Upon arrival pick-up was forgotten, the bathroom was not clean and the received towels were dirty. In addition, even though the hotel states a cleaning policy of its rooms every other day, the room we stayed in was never cleaned and a simple request to change the sheets was never followed up.
(Note: no blankets are available in the rooms).

In terms of food, we found the breakfast quite disappointing - mostly eggs and bread - and e.g. no fresh fruit or bacon on offer. Overall, this hotel feels as though its understaffed - even at breakfast "service".
(Note: a wonderful buffet spread can be found at the adjacent Divi hotel)

Finally, one would expect that common courtesy and respect for every individual would be in the vocabulary of every hotel owner...

Dear She_dives_710 Thank you for your review and for taking the time to give us your personal feedback. We are sorry that our boutique hotel and service did not meet your expectations. It is indeed the case that we simply had not noted your airport transfer in our agenda. We have since improved this process in house. However, we came to pick you up immediately, did not charge you for the airport transfer and also offered you a free breakfast as an apology. In addition, you were able to check into your apartment early in the morning. We are grateful for feedback if we missed a spot on the towels after washing and apologize for this. We then also immediately and readily exchanged the towels and meanwhile we improved the process internally to control the laundry even better after washing. We did cleaned your room during your four-day stay and provided you with fresh towels and also a fresh bed sheet. You ate our breakfast twice in our restaurant Sonrisa. Once you ordered our "Sonrisa Delicious" which offers a varied selection of bread, charcuterie, cheese, a boiled egg, butter, jam, yogurt with fresh fruit, juice and coffee. In addition, you ordered an additional scrambled egg. On the second day, you enjoyed a veggie bagel and a tuna bagel (without egg), which you told us was «delicious». It would be a great pleasure for us to welcome you again and we will do our best to satisfy you with our personal service. Kind regards Corinne & Beat

After 3 years of going nowhere due to covid we finally decided to take a vacation to Bonaire. We chose Sunrisa Boutique because it had really good reviews but after our return we found that most of the reviews were from over a year ago. The new owners Beat and Corrine have only owned it for a year.

When we arrived at the hotel they were very friendly and showed us around the place. They took us to our room which was nice and on the first floor with a pool view. We asked for a room with a queen bed and found that they had just pushed 2 single beds together. There was just a sheet with 2 cheap pillows and no blanket or comforter. We had previously asked for a blanket but never got one. After going night snorkeling we were cold and asked again for a blanket , Corrine seemed unhappy about the request, so we explained about the night snorkeling and at our age we had some problems warming up she then relented and got one for us.

There was a Krups coffee maker in the room with 4 coffee pods and 4 creams the first day but after that they never replaced them , we had to ask for coffee pods and cream each night. After the 3rd night of asking them for a few more pods we went to the store and bought our own because it seemed like a bother to them to give us more. There was no coffee provided until 7:30 and we are early risers. They also ended up charging us for the pods they “gave” us.

There was only hand soap , no soap for the shower .

We also rented a Chevy Trailblazer that was at least 10 - 15 years old . Beat showed us the car and gave us the key but did do any inspection with us. We walked around the car ourselves , it looked like an old truck made for the beach and didn’t think to much about it

There was parking provided one the side of the hotel but when we returned one day the parking area was blocked by a mobile car washing van who were washing Beat and Corrines other rentals
so we parked across the street where we saw no signs that is was a private parking space. Not long after parking we were having a cocktail on our porch and Beat came up to us quite angry and began to berate us for parking there and that his neighbor were complaining, he told us we should have known that we couldn’t park there. We told him we had no idea and we would move it right away because the car wash company had left. Beat didn’t want to hear anything and just stormed off.

Now comes the fun part . The morning we had to depart we turned in the keys Corrine tells us that the outside of the car is really dirty and we either had to go get the car washed or give her $30. Of course the truck was dirty.
Why was it dirty? because it is a desert island and Bonaire had a lot more rain in the last few months than they normally get in a few years.
Also at their suggestion we drove to the National Park which Beat told us was closed the 2nd day we got there due to excessive rain had caused the roads to be to muddy to drive on. The 3rd day Beat told us it was open and it was one of the great things to do on the island.

One 1/2 hour before we needed to leave for the airport, Beat asks us to walk around the truck he points out the the plastic trim piece around the license plate on rear gate had cracks in it and some scratches on the side of the car. we didn’t cause any of this damage, Keep in mind this truck is 10 to 15 years old

So Beat and Corrine tell us we owe them $500 for the damage and $30 for the cleaning, when we protested that we didn’t cause this damage , They threatened to call the police if we didn’t pay which would have made us miss our flight home, with no other option we paid the $500

Dear Judy, Thank you for your review and for taking the time to give us your personal feedback. We are very sorry that our boutique hotel and service did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to comment on a few points: At your first request you asked for additional pillows and not for a comforter. We were very happy to provide the additional pillows. After the night snorkeling we were happy to bring you an additional bedspread. At our coffee machine is (by the complimentary provided capsules) a clear sign: if you like to have additional coffee capsules, you can buy them at the reception. However, all guests may also go to the supermarket to buy these capsules themselves. There is no obligation to purchase them from us. I am sorry, that you seemed to missed that sign. We would like to comment on the rental car. We have very detailed rental conditions, which you have signed at the beginning of your stay and which are also in the vehicle for you to review. In these it is clearly stated that in the event of exceptional, heavy soiling, the cost of additional cleaning is to be borne by the renter. We suggested to you to have the car cleaned in the car wash at the gas station. Unfortunately, the back of the car was indeed damaged and we referred here to our rental conditions, where it clearly states that the renter is responsible to return the car in undamaged condition and otherwise we can take the deductible. Also we communicate very clearly where our parking spaces are located: 1. when handing over the car, 2. we have a clear sign on the front door and 3. is also in the car a map with the parking options. It would be a great pleasure for us to welcome you again and we will do our best to satisfy you with our personal service. Kind regards Corinne & Beat
