Stayed in the unit "Flounder" and this was our third time staying in this un it. The unit is just right for one or two persons who just want a clean and handy unit for a base to use as Divers. It has the basic amenities. The stove top has 4 burners, and underneath is a microwave. The refrigerator is just fine for two. Two rooms are fine for those who don't require a lot of space. The bedroom had a decent sized bed and good closet space. The main room is adequate with a couch and a matching chair with foot rest. The bathroom shower is decent sized. Air conditioner in both rooms is very quick to cool down the room. Although the main room has no table and chairs, outside is a nice porch area that has a table and two chairs. It ha a partial ocean view and is in the shade most of the day. It has a drying rack there also. The unit is on the second floor but the nicest part is you can drop downstairs and within a hundred feet is the "Dive Friends" dive shop, dive gear drying area, and around the corner a marvelous dock where you can find benches and rinse tanks as well as Air and Nitrox cylinders if you are diving with Dive Friends. For SCUBA divers it is a great value nd convenient to everything.…
Pros: My wife & I just got back from a 2 week scuba diving trip to Bonaire. We did a package of diving, driving, & accommodations through Bonaire Pros. Although we frequently go to Bonaire, this was the first time we stayed at Den Laman. We could not be more pleased at the great customer service from everyone involved. Cecile & Simon from Sunwise Bonaire were perfect hosts and very accommodating to our needs. We stayed at an oceanfront 1 bedroom condo called Yellow Tail. This condo was perfect in every way. The kitchen was well appointed with all the pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and fully operational icemaker, frig, microwave, and oven. The entire building was well maintained and our condo was clean and spacious. All of the oceanfront rooms have spectacular views with the ever-present sounds of the ocean lapping at the shore. Sunsets from our room were picturesque with a sun ideally placed just outside our balcony. The location of Den Laman is perfect for access to northern, central, and southern dive sites. Additionally, the parking at Den Laman was absolutely stress free and no hassle. The on-the-premises dive shop, Dive Friends, also did a great job at providing all diving equipment, storage space, and assistance we needed. We rented our truck via Avis at the airport. To our pleasant surprise, we found Avis staff to be efficient and friendly with us. The paperwork, checkout, & check back in process was very smooth for us. Cons: I am not shy about writing up issues which should be addressed, however, I found no substantial issues at all.…
Den Laman Grouper (? Second floor, oceanfront, left side, two bedroom). If you are a snorkeler, what a fantastic location for shallow water photography of reefs within a short swim! Sand beaches also provide easy access and a dive shop on the property will let you use their dunk tanks. Several top notch restaurants are available within a half mile, including some that you can walk to. Cooking within the condo is also an option as the kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, blender, and a freezer with an ice maker. The space is huge, the Wifi works, and the views from the patio keep you coming back at all hours of the day. So, what's not to like. Well.... 1) The mattresses are very firm, thin and the bed is really low to the ground by American standards. This brought back memories of college dorm sleeping decades ago. 2) A noisy bathroom fan sounded like a Cessna on take off, and the exterior position of the light switch made it difficult to use the bathroom without waking your partner up. 3) The closet is so close to the bed that when you are dressing, your partner can't get by to use the bathroom. 4) We couldn't find any wash cloths, so the next day our host came by to open up a locked cabinet within the unit where the towels were. Strange to lock up wash cloths! 5) The host mistakenly insisted that the master bedroom was the rear, non-oceanfront bedroom. After spending a few nights there, we observed the obvious differences and didn't have the heart to ask our traveling partner, a single, to switch rooms. How could you not get this right? Be advised that Den Laman condos are individually owned and operated (no one present in the office) and that adjoining condos may be much better. We love Bonaire, but ever since the Deep Blue View B&B closed, we are still looking for that perfect place to lodge.…
Den Laman Condominium FLOUNDER is a lovely apartment in a fantastic place. For divers but certainly also for snorkelers like us. From the apartment you can walk straight into the sea (or you go from the pier) to snorkel (or dive). To both sides it is beautiful snorkeling. A great diversity of fish. From the balcony you have side sea view. You can sit there in the shade until the evening sun comes. The dive center is diagonally opposite. That gives a pleasant bustle. You can hear the dive center during the day (a kind of compressor seems to me). We didn't find that bothersome. At the bottom of the complex is a restaurant, with a lovely terrace on the water, where you can eat deliciously. The restaurant is not open every day. The apartment is within walking distance of the pier to Klein Bonaire. Cecile and Simon, the administrators, are friendly and very helpful. We also explored the island with a scooter. You have to be careful because the roads are full of holes. For us a place to definitely go back to.…
My wife and I have been diving in Bonaire for 30 years. We returned last month when she surprised me with a belated birthday trip. We normally travel with about 15 family members and rent a large house. So with only the two of us we only needed a smaller condo. The Den Lamen was perfect. We stayed in the one bedroom Rough Scad room. The room was perfect for us, as we spent most of our time out and about. The room was very modern and clean. Very comfortable. The location was perfect. Onsite Dive Friends dive shop with gear storage is so convient. We always dive with Dive Friends when we visit. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Bari reef was just a few feet from our door, and one of the best dive sites on the island. Their is construction next door, but we didn't hear any noise as other users have discussed. Restaurants are just a few minutes drive away. The managers who managed our unit were very friendly and helpful. We didn't have any issues during our trip. We will book one of the two bedroom units next visit with our kids. Also we got stuck in Atlanta due to mechanicsl issues with our plane and the manager worked with us and we were anle to adjust or stay by a day so we wouldnt lose any time on the island. I highly recommend staying at Den Lamen.…
We've just spent two weeks at Den Laman in the Tarpon unit, which is ocean front, top floor, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. We booked through Sun Rentals, and they were excellent, with good communication, and friendly. We dealt with Eef. The unit was larger than expected, and had the most amazing views. There was air conditioning throughout, and it was spotlessly clean. Not an ant in sight. We don't dive, but had the most amazing time snorkeling. The best we've ever seen.
We stayed at dolphin, a 2 bedroom ocean front unit in January 2020 for a week of snorkelling. The location was perfect, 5 minutes to downtown, 10 minutes to all attractions. We love the convenience of just stepping out and snorkel in the beautiful Bari reef as well as so called “aquarium” by the coast. We saw long neck sea turtle, spotted moray eels, spotted drum, all kind of parrot fishes and many many more!!! The unit is spacious, well equipped with modern amenity. We walked to Eden beach resort and took water taxi to Klein Bonaire twice for drift snorkelling, the reef was amazing!!! Some people complained about the noise from the construction next door which did not bother us at all. There was a party on coco beach one night with loud music, instead of getting annoyed, we walked over and joined the party and had a great time with the locals. Special thanks to Cecil and Simon for their professional service, super friendly, courteous, quick to respond and very accommodating!!! We will be back for sure!!!!…
Our first time in Bonaire after several trips to Cayman and Little Cayman. Outstanding experience with an amazing facility! Rented 2 bedroom ocean front. 15 steps to shore. Actually one of the best diving spots on island. Will be back!
Everything about our stay was perfect. Highly recommend staying at Den Laman. Perfect location and great diving right outside the front door. Ground floor accommodation is wonderful. We look forward to staying at this location again.
We stayed at Den Laman in the Yellow Tail unit for 8 nights in early December. This is a one-bedroom ocean front unit on the second floor. This was our first trip to Bonaire and after several weeks of debating on where to stay we chose Den Laman based on the good reviews, the location, the fact that it had (at that time) an on-site management company/front desk which we thought would be helpful being our first visit, and that the pictures and website stated and showed a very small beach area. Shortly after our booking, we received notice that there was no longer onsite management and the units were being managed by different offsite agencies. The Yellow Tail is now managed by Sunwise Bonaire. I contacted them a couple weeks prior to our departure to make sure everything from our reservation had transferred over to them correctly and to ask a few questions. They were always very prompt with their replies. They also picked us up from the airport the evening of our arrival (we didn’t want to get a vehicle until the next morning; being our first visit, we didn’t want to figure out where we were going in the dark…). While it would have been nice to have the front desk available to exchange beach towels daily, ask questions about restaurants, places to visits, etc., we managed just fine without it. The Yellow Tail unit was very spacious and clean. We arrived on a Saturday evening and departed early on a Sunday morning (8 nights total). Housekeeping came and cleaned and replaced towels on Monday/Wednesday/Friday which was plenty for us. We thought they would just be replacing towels, but they mopped, wiped counters, etc. The terrace is very large with two loungers and a table with 6 chairs. The air-conditioning worked very well and there is a unit in the bedroom and the living room. There was a drying rack on the balcony which came in handy for our beach towels, swimsuits, and snorkel gear. The kitchen was modern and pretty well equipped. We did purchase some small aluminum baking trays and foil as there was no oven safe bakeware. We also did not find any hot pads to remove items from the oven so used the dish towel. Other than that, there was everything you could possibly need, including a small cooler. We had a light breakfast and occasional lunch at the condo and made dinner three of the eight nights. The bathroom is large, but there was no bathmat, and the way the shower was positioned with no door or curtain, we had to use a towel as a bathmat as the water did not stay within the shower floor. The bathroom floor was very slippery so some type of bathmat would be helpful. The small beach area was nonexistent. The pictures on the websites must have been taken at a different time of year or when the tide was out. There is no way any beach chairs could have been placed anywhere or they would have washed away. While disappointing, we still loved the location. Being able to snorkel right from the dock was wonderful. We enjoyed the location as there were a few places we could walk to for dinner/lunch if we didn’t want to drive, the dive operation onsite was very good, and the snorkeling/diving right at the condo was wonderful. The restaurant onsite was also good for our arrival night and night prior to our early departure. The first evening, a Saturday, there was very loud music coming from somewhere, but I couldn’t determine where. It didn’t seem to be from the Coco Beach side, almost seemed like it was from the Sand Dollar side (but sound may travel strange…). It was so loud that we could hear the thumping in the bedroom, with door closed and air-conditioning on. This went on until 1:30 AM. I began searching for somewhere else to stay, in the event it happened again the following evening. It did not; all other nights were very peaceful. There was a concert being held at the Coco Beach side on Thursday evening. We heard them testing the sound system in the afternoon, but the music did not bother us at all that evening. There is some construction going on next door (between Den Laman and Coco Beach). The drilling and jackhammering, etc. was a bit annoying on a couple of days and dust was blowing, but there is quite a lot of construction on the island so it may be hard to avoid it anywhere. Not sure if the construction caused the dirt on the terrace or what, but it was very filthy. Pretty much didn’t want to walk out on the balcony barefoot as our feet would turn black. Didn’t use the lounge chairs as they were very dirty, and being cloth, hard to wipe clean. We did wipe the table and chairs and used those all week. While there were a few minor inconveniences mentioned above, we still really enjoyed this condo and would not hesitate to stay there again. I’d give it a 4-1/2 out of 5 stars…. The corner units on the 2nd floor appeared to have even larger terraces, and that’s what we may look into next time. While I may have mentioned negatives above, the positives greatly outweighed anything that wasn’t 100% to our liking.…
