I booked via TUI, paid approx for one week 1200 €, so for last minute was not that cheap.Just one person. I arrived quite late so, the owner brought me to the appartement. The livingroom had no airco so it was filled up with the mosqitos, the 2 bedrooms had the airco..but again was full with flies. The mosquitonet had wholes and the blood of the previous guests..The lock of the entry door was broken and there was a guite a whole in the main door..so all the bugs could enter..The lock was broken..To keep it short, I stayed there one night and had to find a new place.I spent another 1000 Dollar..but at least I did not waste my holliday. My advise is- do not go there and do not book your holiday with TUI One good thing was that the food in the restaurant was really good😊
Have stayed at Tropicana Apartments multiple times now. We keep coming back because of the great service (Irene and Roland are always there to help out with anything that comes up) and the excellent location close to everything. The apartment is clean and supplied with the basic essentials and provides good value for your money . Didn't go there this spring(2018) since we had a family vacation booked elsewhere but definitely plan to return next year! Irene and Roland have always helped to make our vacation on Bonaire successful.
Service is terrible. Owners are arrogant, rude, and not honest. Very shorttime minded. Rooms were full of dust, leaking tap on the bathroom, so you had to close/open the main tap every time you wanted to use it. We were promissed to get a shadefull porch, it wasn't untill 4pm we had shade. In short, the place wasn't suitable for staying with little children. Last but not least, we asked the owners to reserve a taxi tot pick us up from the airport. There wasn't a taxi to pick us up. After asking Irene (one of the owners), she said that Roland didn't call a taxi at all. Next day, Roland claims that a taxi had been standing there for 20 minutes waiting for us.
Booked here for a week. When we arrived, we didn't quite find the apartment suitable for our young children. So we wanted to stay shorter. When we asked to change the booking, the owner and his wife went crazy and told us to move out of the apartment directly. We told him we still wanted to stay a couple of nights and had no where else to go with our young kids. He just said: I don't care, even if you have to sleep on the streets. Just bizarre. So we left and were luckily able to find something else eventually. Would not recommend doing business with this company.
Irene and Roland are great hosts and will set you up for all your needs at a fair price. Good central location. Walking distance to town. Apts are large, clean, private, and equipped nicely. Very good place to stay! Rinse tank and close lines to hang gear. Highly recommended for divers or non divers alike! Thank you...
We have stayed 2 times in this nice, spacious and clean apartment. We love the greenish one because it is quite big for 2 persons, full of natural light and with a good sense of privacy. Kitchen has basically everything you need; the bathroom has a great walk in shower. Nearby there is the Dive Hut for the check in and check, where you can have a nice breakfast, beers, and twice a week a BBQ at an unbeatable price! The whole staff is always very kind and helpful. Thanks Irene, Roland, Jacqueline and Derk...we hope to come back soon!
Just a short walk to the beach, an easy bike ride to the grocery store, and a quick drive to most any of the dive sites. The apartments are on a residential street with most kind people. The biggest thing you read about is petty theft. To solve that, we took only that which we could leave behind. At the end of our extended stay we set boxes, bags, and suitcases in the front yards of those we noticed who could use this item or that. It was like being St. Nicholas. Beyond that, we found the security set up at Tropicana more than adequate and felt very comfortable leaving our basics behind every day. Roland, Irene, and staff are always about should you need, but never overbearing. They provide fresh, clean apartments with all you ask for (our family needed larger pots/pans), give a laid back island approach to leaving be unless asked, and are always present when you seek them. We can't wait to see them again and consider them friends.…
Dive Hut and Tropicana Apartments are the best deal going on Bonaire. Can't say enough positives about the booking process, the quality of the accommodations and the helpfulness of everyone I talked to. Everything was arranged for us, right down to getting our rental truck for us because our plane arrived late and having standing by at the room. Will definitely return to Bonaire (the diving is just awesome) and will absolutely work with Dive Hut and Tropicana again.
This is our third time in Tropicana Apartments and it's always a very nice and cozy place to stay. Irene and Roland are very welcoming and great people. The rooms got a kitchen (if you want to cook something during your stay), living room.with TV, bedroom, parking... The street behind Tropicana is located the Dive Hut (same owners of Tropicana) that always have some nice things going on, as BBQ night on every Thursday and other interesting things may happen during the other days (keep eyes on Dive Hut's black board for more info).
The appartment was very big and very clean. You could park your car safely in between a fence. The reception is not located at Tropicana but at the Dive Hut, a one minute walk. After arrival (I stayed at tropicana, two of my non diving friends stayed at Eden), something went wrong with the car that I've rented via the Dive Hut. It had only two seats (because they did not expect us to be with three people) on the island. But the problem was fixed that evening, we could trade the car the next morning. Also there was a problem with the kitchen, there were no sharp knifes and no can opener, but I could use the tools from the restaurant and they gave me new kitchen tools the next day, great service! And at check out, I could stay longer in the appartment, untl the evening. If I would ever go back to Bonaire I would definately go back to this place. The only problem (except for the mosquitos :-)) was that it was not very crowded that week (to say the least), and the last 4 days i was alone on the island and expected it to be more busy/was alone most of the time. The famous thursday bbq was even cancelled because it was so quiet and except for two nights it was quite calm at the bar or it was even closed. Before booking, they told me that they always had other guests without a dive buddy, but it was low season (even the slowest week in six months according to the dive shop), there were no other guests without a buddy). This was not only a problem of Dive Hut, I even went to three other dive shops and hotels, everywhere the buddy bord was empty, but still, if you go to Bonaire without diving friends, i would reccommend to go in the high season.…
