TL;DR - BEWARE: if you want to book a massage, know that the massage services and the hotel itself are TWO SEPARATE BUSINESS ENTITIES. Additionally, despite this, the hotel will oddly REQUIRE you to provide them with your credit card information to confirm the reservation, however, know that when they inform you that you “can” pay the masseuse in cash after the session, what they REALLY mean is you MUST pay in cash. Why the hotel needs access to your credit card information but does not process your payment nor puts you in direct contact with the masseuse who is supposed to do so is VERY SHADY and beyond me!! But if you want to know how this BIZARRE and CREEPY occurrence went down, keep on reading… ----- So our visit to this establishment was incredibly uncomfortable and disconcerting which compelled me to pen this review so that others don’t have such experiences in the future. My travel buddy and I wanted to get some massages during our trip to the island and were super excited to find out in our research that Bamboo Bonaire offered them considering how beautiful the location was. Things started out normal enough. During our phone and email communications with the hotel we were asked to provide a credit card for the hotel to “confirm the reservations and prevent no shows'' as well as use as a “security deposit” and were told that we also had the option of paying the masseuse with cash in person on the day of the appointment. This didn’t seem out of the ordinary as we have had countless spa appointments stateside and internationally where a card was asked to be placed on hold, but payment wouldn’t be processed until after the session, at which point the card that was provided could be used, or alternative methods of payment including cash could be used as well. Simple/normal enough right? Wrong!!! So this is what happened…The day of the appointment my friend and I got to the hotel about half an hour early just to take in the scenery of the grounds. The person whom I assume was the hotel/office manager greeted us at the gate, was cordial, and led us to a seating area and informed us that the masseuse was wrapping up with a previous client. Once the masseuse was finished, she greeted us and informed us that she and her colleague would soon be ready to start our massages. While we waited, my friend asked the manager if she would be able to call a taxi for us once the session was over, but we were informed that the manager’s shift was actually just ending and she would not be around to assist us but offered to ask the masseuse to do so in her stead, which the latter agreed to do. With that settled, we had our massages, and at this point, we were very pleased with the experience. Once the session was finished, we thanked and tipped our masseuses and sat down to wait for our taxi. That’s when things took a hard left turn and got REALLY WEIRD!!!!! So get this…while my friend and I are sipping some water and winding down from the high of our massages, the masseuse walks over to us and asks us if we handled payment with the manager. My friend and I told her that we did and that the manager has my credit card info to process the payment. That’s when the masseuse tells us that the payment MUST be made in cash and informs us that the hotel management often incorrectly communicates this to customers as this has happened several times before. Now at this point, my friend and I are very puzzled because we had several conversations with the hotel manager via phone, email, and earlier IN PERSON before her shift was over, and NOT ONCE was this info ever CLEARLY communicated to us and obviously this is a pattern that has happened before. As such, we asked the masseuse what she usually does in these situations, to which she responded that she “usually just figures something out” and proceeded to ask us if we used PayPal as she accepts payment through that service. We both responded that we do not have PayPal and when she asked us once more if credit card was our preferred method of payment we said yes as that was the whole reason that info was provided to the hotel in the first place. She then clarifies that the reason why she is asking for cash payment is because her massage services and the hotel are actually TWO SEPARATE BUSINESSES!!! At this point, myself and my friend are starting to feel a bit stressed by this confusion but are trying to remain grounded and not undo the $290 messages we just had. And the masseuse had at least a modicum of self awareness to see how this was beginning to look and kept repeating something to the effect of, “Don’t worry, don’t stress and undo your massages, we’ll figure something out.” Now that sounds all good and well, but in reality, despite how it sounds, her body language was a *completely different story* because while she was supposedly trying to reassure us, she (and at one point her colleague) were standing closely in front of my friend and I, and were blocking the exit to the hotel, effectively communicating to us that we were not allowed to leave. So at this point, my friend and I are EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE but the masseuse insists that “we can work this out” and continues to ask us over and over if we are sure that we don’t want to pay in cash or if there are other methods we would like to use for payment. We then uncomfortably and frustratingly communicated to her ONCE AGAIN, that at that moment (outside of the tips we just gave her and her colleague), we did not have *$300* in cash on our persons to give her which is why we previously provided the credit card info!! The masseuse then tells us that since credit card is our preferred payment method she would talk to the hotel (which is what we were asking her to do from the very beginning!!). So she goes off to the side for a moment and *presumably* calls the hotel manager to discuss the issue and returns to tell us that the hotel said they would process the payment for her. She then asks us if it is okay to TAKE A PHOTO OF MY CREDIT CARD to move forward with this which is soooo freaking weird and we told her as much!!! Then five seconds later as she is telling us this, she looks at her phone and says that the manager changed her tune and said that the hotel can’t process the payment after all….WHAT???? So this is when my friend and I become visibly irritated and begin to verbalize that this situation is *really weird* and is making us very uncomfortable! Then the masseuse asks us how we want to deal with this situation as if we hadn’t made it clear a thousand times already that we would like to pay by credit card! She then asks us if we could come back to the hotel the next day to pay by cash which was not an option for us as 1) we would have to pay taxi’s to bring us to and from our personal hotel to Bamboo, 2) we would already be out of the country by the next day, and 3) NONE OF THIS MADE SENSE SINCE THEY ALREADY HAD A FORM OF PAYMENT VIA CREDIT CARD!! So then she comes up with the CREEPY idea of canceling our taxi and personally driving us to town so that we can go with her to an ATM and take out the cash to give to her…#SusAsHeck!!! Thankfully our taxi finally arrived at this point and began honking several times, giving us a perfect opportunity to break free of this strange encounter. Just before we left however, the masseuse made a last ditch effort to “resolve” this and said that she would ask the hotel to call us in the morning so that we could settle everything which we agreed to. Then, about an hour later as we were having dinner, I received a passive aggressive email from the hotel manager stating that, “payment has not been done yet” and that “payment needs to be done in cash to [their] therapists” and she finds it “very unfortunate that this wasn’t clear” and asks that, we “bring the cash tomorrow as this is separated from the hotel.” What?? Not only was that “not clear” it was completely misleading, SHADY AS HECK, and not communicated properly at all. And above all, it is HIGHLY OFFENSIVE AND DISRESPECTFUL that Bamboo and their massage affiliate believe they have the right to request and store clients’ credit card information and then passive aggressively insinuate that said clients intended to not pay/defraud their establishments when the clients have REPEATEDLY offered to pay via the mode of payment that was originally provided and discussed! It was frankly very DISGUSTING to read that email which insinuated that we stole services(!) after we had already spoken to the masseuse AD NAUSEUM about this issue and had just agreed to discuss things with the hotel management in the morning! Fast forward to a day later and *mysteriously* “BAMBOO BALI BONAIRE” appears on my credit card bank statement. I guess they were SOMEHOW able to process the payment after all, despite nearly giving my friend and I an ulcer while desperately trying to gaslight us into thinking otherwise! So in case you didn’t know by now, my friend and I will NEVER, EVER, patronize these establishment(s?) again on any future visits to the region, nor will we EVER recommend them. In fact, we will warn everyone we know who is interested in visiting Bonaire to steer clear of these SHADY folks!

My sister and I stayed for a week in March. It was our first trip to Bonaire. We snorkeled everyday and loved returning to our quiet, tropical haven. The cottage was well appointed and we enjoyed the convenience of being able to make our own breakfast and lunch each day.

This is a beautiful resort with lovely gardens and amazing rooms. We had the deluxe cottage and loved the room, the private garden and shower and the immense bathroom. Even though the resort is close to the road, the way the gardens are kept means that you barely notice any traffic. The partnership with a diving company means that all of that side is made easy with the cleaning facilities and the on site tanks. We also had breakfast at chefs every morning where the staff were particularly helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back.

Wow what an amazing experience we had at Bamboo Bonaire Boutique Resort! From the moment of inquiry about available rooms, Angele from the front office/guest service provided exceptional professional hospitable service. Working in the hotel industry myself for over 30 years I can say that the service Angele provided was so genuine, friendly, smiling, warm and outgoing. Nothing we asked for was too much and everything was made so easy for us. The cabin we got with plunge pool had everything we could wish for and more..... from Nespresso coffee and full box of tea, to a full-service kitchen and even a cool box to take to the beach! No hotel room can match the amount of amenities that this cottage has to offer. I highly recommend Bamboo Bonaire Boutique Resort and this will definitely be my home away from home on our next visit to Bonaire! Again, kudos to Angele for her outstanding service provided! Ok people, this is a resort to sink into. It has been here many years ,which equates to mean large trees, song birds and quiet shade. This is a little island oasis. Just out side the secure gates is all Bonaire offers. All the diving you could ask for, but actually we are only snorkelers. Close to the resort are great snorkel sites. We love this end of the town because if we want we can just quickly get into the water. No traveling to get there. Now the real honesty… we treat this like our second home, without the hassle of owning. We cook all our own food. The kitchen is just fine. We store some special items and retrieve them upon arrival. This is a place for privacy. If you want a romantic getaway you will not be disappointed. No matter who you love you are welcome here. The staff is forever helpful in making anything you want happen. There is no other place we would rather be. It is our only vacation getaway and it really is a getaway.

My wife and I stayed at Bamboo Bonaire for a week in January 2023 on the Stay-Drive-Dive package. We had a Deluxe Plus room which was great. Spacious room with a kitchenette, wardrobe, front and rear deck, seating areas, hammock, massive bathroom with walk-in shower, as well as an outdoor shower. Very clean and well maintained. Nespresso coffee machine and good WiFi. The garden and landscaping is beautifully and cleverly done, making the rooms feel very private. You feel like you have the place to yourself. Above all though, the service and attention to detail is what makes this place stand out. Very friendly and helpful staff. Personal communication at all times. They organize everything - from car rental logistics to taxi bookings. They even make you a handmade name sign for the room which you get to keep, and there is a coolbox with cooling blocks in the freezer so you can take cold drinks with you around the island. When we arrived there were some cold beers already in the fridge. The partnership with VIP Diving is also very convenient and you can just grab tanks of air from the hotel garden. The area to hang dive hear is nice and very convenient. The pick up truck was through AB Car Rental and served us well the whole week. The only thing to make sure is that you somehow book the fully-comped car insurance for $8 per day as it means you are given the car at the airport as soon as you arrive, rather than spending a few hours going to the car rental office the next morning. (This is what we understood once we got there.) All in all, we highly recommend Bamboo Bonaire. It's a little sanctuary and the perfect base to enjoy what Bonaire has to offer. We would not hesitate to come back!

My husband and I recently traveled to Bonaire for the first time to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We booked Bamboo Bonaire and couldn’t have been happier with our choice. We absolutely loved our room with magnesium plunge pool. The little kitchen was so nice to have breakfast and we had a cooler to take lunch with us each day. We were a little worried about not having an ocean view but we didn’t miss that at all. We loved coming back each day to this beautiful tropical oasis. We also had a couples massage onsite and it was fabulous. Just wish we would have had time for a second one. Thank you to Felicia and Angele for all you did for us - helping us with restaurant reservations and just navigating the island. We absolutely loved every moment of our stay and can’t wait to return. Give Shiva a hug from us.

This little oasis paradise is the perfect spot to get away to relax. From the moment you request your reservation - to the moment you check in - all questions and concerns are addressed quickly. Each cottage is unique and perfect. We stayed in the superior cottage with outdoor bathroom and plunge pool. The cottage had everything we could ask for. BBQ, outdoor eating area, outdoor suning area, hammock, outdoor shaded reading area, plunge pool, full kitchen (even had a Nespresso coffee maker and blender!) and comfortable king sized bed! The plunge pool was perfect to cool down and relax after a full day of exploring or snorkeling. We fell in love with Shiva - the resident feline friend! She would greet us each morning and follow us around the spectacular resort gardens. The resort is located walking distance to a fully stocked grocery store. Thank you to everyone for making our stay magical and memorable. We promise we will return!
