Terramar is very comfortable. The apartment is modern with good views and pretty much has everything you could need. The reasons for the lower rating are The cruise ships parked right outside the balcony and the NOISE from the street. Motorcycles constantly revving their motors while slowly driving down the street. It was super annoying and LOUD! It was a bit disappointing that when the apartment was cleaned that the toiletries were not replaced. When you are spending that much on a place you would think they would be replaced. All in all I would recommend Terramar as long as you are aware of the pitfalls of the area.

THEY CANCELED OUR TRIP 4 DAYS BEFORE ARRIVAL AND LEFT US WITH NO CHOICE BUT TO CANCEL OUR TRIP!!! We stayed at the Terramar for 1 month last summer and had a wonderful time! We found Terramar through a deal on Airbnb that offered a 50% discount for monthly stays, and we planned our trip with then-property manager Nadia. While there, property manager Jude Finies and I planned a return trip. Through many emails and texts with Jude, she confirmed my discounted booking price and timeline, with arrival on July 27, 2019. I even forwarded her my credit card info to prepay, and was told to pay upon arrival. Then, on July 21, she sent me an email, but it was filtered as spam so I didn't see it. It just so happened that on July 23, I sent Jude an unrelated text. She asked if I read her email. I told her I hadn't. She pasted the email in the text chain, which read; "it is not allowed anymore to rent the apartment with 50% discount reduction on the normal rates.” I immediately called her and she told me she would speak with the owner and call me the next morning. She didn't call me. I started texting her at 9am yesterday, and after several calls and texts, she finally called me back at 3:30pm to let me know that not only was the owner not going to give me our agreed-upon price, but that he was ONLY willing to accept the last-minute rate; more than double our original price! Had I not texted Jude on Tuesday, I would have arrived on Sat. w/ 2 kids either extorted for more $ or stranded!!!!

This was our second stay at Terramar and we stayed for a month. We absolutely love it here! The location is great- walking distance to shopping, dining, water taxi to Klein, grocery store, etc. Although some have complained about the noise, Terramar is installing sound-proof glass in the apartments so that issue should vastly improve. It hasn't been an issue for us either time we have stayed, however. I think the apartments on the end may have been more subject to that, but again, think that will be rectified. Some of the other things we love about are as follows. Comfortable and very clean- beds, pillows and linens are nice quality making for great sleeping. Living room and dining furniture are more than adequate. Kitchen is fairly well equipped. A/C units in each bedroom as well as living quarters enabling you to only use when/where needed. In both units we have stayed, the balcony doors open completely to the living area making for a very large usable space with an absolute gorgeous view of the water. As far as entertainment, the TV's are equipped with various viewing apps, ie Hulu, etc. that you can log in with your own account information. Also, we have had a Bose speaker in each unit to pair for your music listening. There are two rinse sinks available as well as lockable lockers for your equipment. You do need to supply your own locks for the lockers. Terramar does also have trucks sometimes available for rental- very competitive rates and they also pick you up from the airport so you aren't dealing with the long lines at the rental car windows. Super convenient. I would be remiss not to mention the staff. Housekeeping was wonderful, efficient, thorough and friendly. As for office staff, on our most recent stay, we worked a little bit with Jude who was always very sunny and pleasant and helpful, she was a delight. As things worked out, we had more interaction with Lucy and my husband and I cannot say enough about her. She was extremely knowledgeable, funny, helpful, professional and a great resource from everything local to our booking for next year. As a native of Bonaire, she had an answer or a suggestion for any question we had regarding places to eat, see, things to do, etc. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful stay! She is a great asset to Terramar. Although our experiences have primarily greatly positive at Terramar, we have had a few frustrations that I will mention. First, the parking lot. There is a gate to the private lot but unfortunately, due to cost and availability of parts, it seems to be out of order more than in order. When it is working, guests are given a card to swipe and then gain access giving you a guaranteed parking spot, which, in this area, is a great bonus! However, when the gate is not working, any and everyone has access. They do try to regulate somewhat but with shop owners and workers and a car rental agency that uses the lot for it's vehicles, it can be tiresome. I will say that whenever we returned, if it was during regular business hours, we only had to step in to the office and tell them and they would find one of those vehicle's owners and ask them to move it, and we were never left without a spot. However, it was very frustrating to have to go through all the motions to get a spot that is supposed to be reserved for Terramar residents. After business hours, when we returned in the evenings we never had an issue. This was our biggest frustration though as it was pretty much a daily occurrence and if we went out multiple times, we sometimes had to replay the event several times a day. Something else that could be a potential drawback is the proximity of the docks where the cruise ships dock. The north one is literally in front of the apartments. We found it mostly entertaining but they do come in very early some days and it was disappointing at times to swing the balcony doors open only to see a huge ship looming in front of you. With the black-out curtains and the soundproof glass, other than the ship's horn, we didn't hear them for the most part if the doors where closed. A few of the ships are a bit older, noisier and emit more fumes but most are fairly quiet. As this is an apartment in the town center, there is no swimming pool either if that is an amenity that you are looking for. My last thing I would mention is that the microwave/ oven is different than anything we typically use in the US. (Incidentally, if you are coming from the US, you will need a converter/adapter for your electronics from home). The instruction manuals are in some of the apartments however, unless you are fluent in Dutch, they will be of no help to you. Lucy did mention that they were trying to streamline things and make a standardized manual available in each unit in English for the appliances, etc. Not sure if that has happened yet but worth mentioning. Overall, again, we thoroughly love this place and are booked for another month next year. :)

Thank you to all the staff who work here for making our visit so pleasant and thoroughly enjoyable. The building is beautiful and we enjoyed watching all the marine vessels come and go over our 6 week stay at Terramar. As always, the diving is outstanding all over the island. Thank you again. See you soon.

We had such a wonderful time in Bonaire. It was such a liberating place and the people were amazingly pleasant. Terramar was such a home like atmosphere and Nadia went beyond the call of duty to help with our needs. Nadia was the unexpected piece in the puzzle that made the experience that much better. The world would be a better place with more people like Nadia. Thanks for such a bodacious time, I’m sure we’ll be returning.
