First, Barbados is a fabulous island filled with tons of activities, flavours and amazing people. Inchcape is my favourite place to stay on the island. I love the privacy and uniqueness of Inchcape. The staff and owners are friendly and always available to help and give great advice about anything on the island. You can enjoy peace and tranquility while being only a few kilometres from the quaint little town of oistins with its awesome enterprise beach. The kitesurfing is right there at your feet...amazing!!! There are 3 surf spots within minutes...one for beginners and the 2 others for intermediate surfers. There are a few restaurants within walking distance and Many within a few kilometres. If you rent a vehicle(which is a must to take full advantage of this magical island!), you have hundreds of choices of restaurants and entertainment. All is pretty much back to normal at this stage of the Covid-19 pandemic. I promise Inchcape and Barbados will become one of your favourite place to visit!

Spent 2 weeks at Coconut Villa at Inchcape Seaside Villas in February 2019. The staff are all excellent, Prudance is very efficient, Norma is an excellent housekeeper, and I highly recommend Rodney as one of their designated taxi drivers. Rodney is completely reliable, very fair with prices, very generous with his time and took great care to make sure he took us to the best places - for example, the best supermarket for our needs, the type of beach we felt like going to that day. The whole team at Inchcape are very considerate and overall genuinely nice people- for example, Norma checked each day that we were OK and one gardener even stopped work because he saw I was having a rest. Prudance or a team member were always available by phone, respond quickly to emails and do an amazing job of keeping the Villas and gardens immaculate. 5 stars plus to the team! Location: Myself and my partner loved the quieter beaches in this area. There are 2 beaches close to the property, one is great for kite surfing and paddling, but not for swimming. The other beach is OK for a swim- not picture perfect, but very unspoiled and more ' wild'. It was windy during our stay too, which was fine by us. Obviously this is a personal choice, if you want calm beaches with few waves, I'd suggest another location, however for us, the trade-off of having beaches virtually to ourselves versus busier but ' calm' beaches, was well worth it. Inchcape is not a traditional ' resort', but a beautiful spot, with a good standard of accommodation for the price. In terms of peace, quiet and relaxing/ de- stressing, this is one of the best places I've been in the Caribbean. We were happy to walk to the bus stop and get taxis but if you want total convenience and to be in a main area, I recommend considering that what Inchcape offers is not ' busy' but it is very easy to get to shops and other beaches etc. All of this is made very clear on the Inchcape website. There are large private gardens at the front of the property, really well kept with beautiful plants, loungers, shade and views over the Atlantic/ South parts of Barbados. Wonderful, and peaceful. Like all self catering places all over the world, there were a few minor issues, but the team were very quick to respond positively to any feedback. We only had to mention any issue, and if the team could sort it out, they did so very quickly. So, this part of my review is for the owner, not the staff. Kitchen equipment - the kitchen was generally well set up, and very clean. A pot spoon and serving spoons and decent knives would be great. Working bottle openers etc would also be great - again, I must stress that Norma and Prudance provided what they could immediately , once we mentioned anything. A small welcome pack of even 1 day's basic tea, coffee etc would help. This is pretty standard across the world in most self catering places. As there is no air conditioning ( but a good fan was provided, and the place is breezy) it may be worth considering changing sheets more often than the once a week current policy. Again, when I mentioned this to Prudance, our bed was changed immediately, with no problems or issues. Overall, the cleaning was a very high standard though. Norma is extremely thorough and has very high standards, as do all the Inchcape staff. Sink plugs - again, out of the control of the staff, but the owner could get this sorted out. In terms of the environment, wasting a lot of water and soap when washing clothes and pots was a real shame. Mosquitoes - A good mosquito net was provided, however the Coconut Villa has a water run drain right outside the bedroom window. There were quite a few of these pesky things, despite a good Atlantic breeze. I was bitten quite a bit. This is completely out of anyone's control, and being vigilant with anti mosquito measures was essential- as it is in many places across the world. Perhaps the owner could consider insect screens for those villas situated further back from the breeze, and take action about any standing water. Hope this review is useful. We will come back to Inchcape, it is a special place, and we felt really lucky to be there and to be in Barbados.

Kim, Thank you for such a warm and detailed review. It was a pleasure to have you stay with us and we would definitely love to have you as a guests once again. Just to note so that other guests are not confused the unit is actually called “Coconut Studio” and not Coconut Villa. I understand and appreciate your concerns and suggestions, receiving reliable constructive critiques allow us to make the experience at Inchcape better and better for each guest on each visit. However as I go through the feedback even though we are grateful for your lovely kind words and gestures about the unit, the property, the staff and the overall location; there is a couple things which as the Manager of the property I need to clarify so there is no misunderstandings. Kindly note the studio offers a full kitchen with all equipment which are monitored and changed regularly. As you eloquently stated the kitchen is well set up and very clean, as keeping the villas immaculate means checking the equipment we work with daily and making sure they are appropriate and up to standard for our guests. This Studio is currently outfitted with cooking spoons, a wooden spoon, a spatula, wisk, serving utensils, eating utensils, drinking glasses, wine glasses, champagne flutes, tea cups and all plates, bowls, a salad bowl, a cutting board, cutting knives and a pairing knife along with the necessary cookware and appliances for guests to make their own meals whilst on holiday, if they wanted to do so. In addition, the bottle opener and can opener were recently changed and not only for that unit but all other units for the season. Furthermore, these types of items are readily kept in storage and once notified they have stopped working would be changed immediately. Moreover, you mentioned sink plugs but they do have them in the unit both at the kitchen sink and the bathroom sink however you never mentioned the sink plug was prohibiting you from washing your dishes the way you would like. The only mention was by your partner who spoke of the plug for the bathroom sink as when the plug was in use during his shaves the water in the sink would slowly drain which means the plug was no longer fitting snug as discussed. However, as he told us about that particular sink plug, it has since been changed. Another point to address, is that of tea and coffee items (basic welcome pack). As we cater to such a wide variety and quite diverse clientele all with differing preferences and taste for food items and differing health concerns, we believe it is more logical and safe as a self contained boutique property to allow guests to acquire the items of their choice when they have arrived. The final point I wish to clarify is that of mosquitos, I just want to state that we do take all the necessary measures to prevent infestations of mosquitos to the property with the added value that our close proximity to the ocean and constant trade wind breezes mitigates the life of mosquitos on property however as any precaution one should make sure to purchase insect repellant and necessities to avoid bites as having measures in place for the property is not a cure all. I hope that this has helped clarify the concerns you have presented and also assist future guests become familiar with our property. We look forward to having you back again and it was indeed our pleasure to have you stay with us for your holiday.

The best praise I can give is a question. Do you keep going to your favorite spot also? What are your reasons for returning for 32 years and counting? Ours are simply that a Caribbean vacation is the balm for living in our crazy times. Barbados is our family therapy session for a year of working hard. It closes out the year and lets us rejuvenate for the next. I have been to many of the islands and have always felt the Bajan people were the most welcoming and friendly people I have met anywhere. A huge plus if you like to get out and about and experience the local culture a la Rick Steve’s mantra for a good vacation experience. Inchcape is located perfectly, close to airport but most importantly on the the south east corner of the island where the trade winds blow side shore so there is a constant cooling breeze and no mosquitoes. Ah bliss... The grounds are stunning, every unit different, all with great views. Very quiet and private. With your own beach right next to the compound. Water sports is our family thing with world class kiting, windsurfing, surfing, swimming, snorkeling, supping, body surfing available non stop. We also bicycle and do power walks and hikes. It’s a non stop spa that gets us back on track both mentally and physically.revcan we go that has all They have also added yoga to the mix on site this year. Year after year we keep questioning whether we should mix it up and try someplace new and the response is “nah”, why fight perfect.

Our family has been going to Barbados for the last 3 decades and year after year we stay at Inchcape. Its the best 2 weeks of the year and Inchcape feels like home. We love all of Barbados and have explored the whole island and still wouldn’t trade Inchcape for anything. Wolfgang, Rosi, Prudence, Ginger, and the entire staff take such good care of us and are so welcoming and friendly. The grounds are beautiful and each villa has elegant and unique architecture. You can always feel a nice breeze and the sounds of waves crashing. The location is also perfect, near great windsurf and surf, and is also quiet and peaceful since there are no mainstream, touristy hotels nearby. It truly is paradise. Already looking forward to next year!
