Unsafe - 210 USD went missing from beach bag during stay. Two separate onsite general managers were informed immediately. Both shared no care/concern. My wife and I felt very uncomfortable afterwards. Rooms dated, many resort workers were rude, slow. Finally, food was just okay. Not high quality, low variety.
We have stayed in a few of the sister hotels in the group and found this to be the best. The building is light, bright and modern as was our bedroom. The service was friendly and efficient and the food was very good. The beach is quite small but we always managed to get a sunbed. The large terrace outside is a lovely spot to have lunch and a sundowner. Separate to the main restaurant and bar there is a coffee/snack bar available during the day. The only negative we could find was that the spa, adults only pool and some bedrooms (including ours) are on the opposite side of the very busy main road.
Staying at waves was the best beach holiday I have ever had, it was superb service as we were given a drink on our arrival and also was given a talk at the beginning of our trip to outline safety and tips of Barbados which we found so useful and shown a lot of caring by the hotel. We also loved the opportunity to use a room to clean up and shower before we left which was so welcome, the staff also were all so helpful and vendors on the beach did not hassle to the point where it could be seen as hassling and they were good people, the spa voucher for me and my girlfriend was also such a welcome addition. the room was fantastic with 2 floors and all being clean and comfortable and the terrace was a plus. Great location as well as the hotel right next to a bus stop to travel to anywhere on the island, especially Bridgetown, it’s a must to travel on the reggae bus whilst in Barbados. It’s not just a hotel for lounging with limited things to do as water sport is available as part of the booking and it is fantastic, the staff in charge were great and so helpful in teaching me to sail for my first time and so much fun to enjoy the activities available with. There is also the water taxi to take you to the other hotels should you wish to see more of the island and the hotels part of the elegant range, Cannot recommend this hotel enough, thank you waves and we will be back 100%.…
Waves is a welcoming & friendly Hotel Their biggest asset being their Staff , they all smile with sincerity . It’s not the prettiest of Hotels , so many Caribbean Hotels the rooms surround very pretty gardens leading onto the beach , Waves lacks this . The rooms are excellent, well appointed, having everything you could possibly need with extremely comfortable beds . Restaurant is good , great service & enjoyable food , especially the fresh salads . It never seemed over busy or crowded even though I understand the Hotel was full. Bar & lounge area very sociable , again with efficient smiling Staff. Likewise Reception . We only ever had one issue that was for the use of a courtesy room as we had a late departure & after approaching Management one was made available to us . Over the road the Spa , a very peaceful area where the rooms are built around the gardens & pool. We had a 10 night stay & had three complimentary treatments. The water taxi to sister Hotels gives you the opportunity to visit them & use their facilities . The only downside for me personally was the beach, it’s not terribly big & shelves , so always felt quite busy with loungers all very closely packed together . There are plenty of water sports though & a very good drinks service. In my opinion there are certainly much better beaches on the West coast . Overall though , a super Hotel , smiling Staff , good rooms, good food & good service .…
We arrived in the morning but could not check in until 3pm - fair enough, we assumed we would be able to sit by the pool or on the beach. We were not able to use the facilities, staff suggested we walk to the local beach bar and return at 3pm. A fairly long walk in the sun with two kids, we made the best of it but obviously would have preferred to stay on site. We have done the same thing previously at Sugar Bay and were welcomed early with open arms. Given the price we paid we thought the check-in policy spoilt our stay. We moved to the resort from another hotel on the island, had we traveled direct from a transatlantic flight I would have been extremely surprised to have been asked to leave the resort. Otherwise, the hotel was fine. Nice facilities and good food. No shower facilities available after check out, but we were given our room for an extra hour. Hard to give anything above 2 stars with the check-in policy.…
This was our second time at Waves and fourth time to Barbados. We decided to return to waves after six years because we loved the small and friendly feel of the place and the decor. On arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff and were shown to our room (204) quite quickly. Room 204 was perfect for us. It was big and the bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in when staying at a hotel. The sea view is just gorgeous. The majority of staff were so welcoming and friendly and this is what makes Waves so special. They have a policy about not being allowed to reserve sun beds but some people ignored this and one day, a family reserved beds early in the morning, went off for the day, came back in the afternoon and decided to leave the beds. I find this behaviour really selfish especially when the beach is quite small and people wouldn’t have been able to use the beds. This is my only criticism, which is more about the guests than the hotel. We absolutely love Barbados and would recommend Waves to anyone.…
We have just experienced the most perfect holiday at the Waves Hotel. We went with our 2 daughters aged 12 and 9 and can honestly say it’s one of the best holidays we have ever had! This hotel certainly know how to do hospitality! Kym who is both professional yet personable runs an amazing team of staff- had some lovely chats with Ryan and the ladies in the restaurant are so lovely and go out of their way to ensure your stay is special and the guys behind the bar also so warm and welcoming. The guy on the cleaning team who was often in the bar area in the mornings (I wish I could remember his name!! but he wore the blue staff t shirt, had long hair with a head scarf) honestly used to brighten my mornings with his cheery greeting and smile, always happy to welcome guests the whole time and warm nature. The setting is just stunning with a lounge area overlooking the ocean which is lovely and cool during the daytime and a great spot for cocktails and rum in the evening. Food is excellent in both restaurants. The spa is lovely and so nice to get 2 complimentary treatments. Only bit of feedback is that the first back massage I received was incredible but the second one later in the week was with a different person and wasn’t anywhere near as good (my husband said the same thing) so depends on which therapist you get to how good the treatment is. Definitely recommend Sam the Man and his tour of the island, felt we learnt so much about the island going out with him and he is a lovely and knowledgeable person. The turtle snorkelling trip is also incredible. We were so sad to leave. Thanks for giving us such lovely memories! …
We stayed at Waves with our small baby and would highly recommend it. The staff were accommodating and flexible and the food was varied and delicious - they were also happy to prepare ‘baby friendly’ food which was so appreciated. The bar staff make excellent frozen margaritas! Everyone remembered our baby’s name and made us feel so comfortable. The room was clean and spacious with a fantastic sea view. My husband enjoyed using the HobieCat. The only slight criticism is that one day they ran out of parasols on the beach and no other shade was available but we were able to spend the day by the pool so no harm done.
The attentive kind staff made our stay at Waves memorable. The accommodation was spot on….one small thing …the pillows could be upgraded! The dining room was very well run and the food quality was excellent. Cheryl’s fresh egg station was lovely! The bar was well run and the drink quality was 10/10. The entertainment was ok ….singing to backing tracks is just about ok but it would have really worked with musical instruments. The saxophonist was super. The beach area was small but easily managed…sun beds and umbrellas were available and there were all of the water sports if desired. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Staff are warm, professional, and helpful. The hotel is lovely. Food is good - authentic Bajan with some North American options. It’s a smaller hotel. Make reservations for dinner in advance (online is easiest then you can make reservations ahead for your whole stay). The therapists at the Spa are excellent - so book an hour massage if you can. One other thing…there are lots of stairs…so if climbing stairs is a problem for you, you need to know this before coming. Nice beach too.
