The warm welcome on our arrival, combined with a rum punch, gave us a good idea of what to expect at Treasure Beach. It is a lovely, small hotel set in pretty gardens with a gorgeous beachfront view onto the wonderful blue Caribbean and the fabulous beach at Paynes Bay. Our ground floor oceanview suite had a perfect view of the ocean, the gardens and the pool. The living area was bright and well appointed and the bedroom was large with plenty of light and a huge bed. The bathroom was also really spacious. Good Points: The hotel is really well situated on a main transport route. it is not necessary to hire a car because buses are frequent and cheap. Rooms are kept really clean. In-room safe, air-con and shower were really easy to operate. Bed linen, towels and toiletries are really good quality. Loads of wardrobe space and plenty of hangers. Multiple drawer units (we couldn't fill them!). There were several 2 pin plug sockets and a single UK 3 pin plug socket in our room. The outdoor dining area is attractive with plenty of shade. The indoor dining area is spacious and cool. Food was really good quality with plenty of choice. There was always a vegetarian option. Breakfast consisted of a good variety of menu options (such as omelettes and eggs benedict), or you could choose from a full cooked breakfast buffet (hash browns, sausage, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, beans), pastries, cereals, yoghurts and fruit. Lunches consisted of several different salad bowls, wraps (with chips and salad), spring rolls, pizzas etc. Evening meals were varied and beautifully presented. Sun loungers were arranged around the pool, on the main deck overlooking the ocean and also on the beach. There was a handy shower after the short flight of steps from the beach to allow you to wash off any sand. The gardens of the hotel are filled with bird life and beautiful flowers. There is easy access around the pool, the bar and the dining area. My partner has mobility issues and had no problems getting around the hotel. The majority of staff at the hotel are really friendly, helpful and efficient. Special thanks go to Joan, who managed the dining area and really made our stay extra special. Special thanks should also go to Ashley, who made sure that all public areas were clean each morning and also organised the sun loungers and umbrellas each day. There was some evening entertainment. One solo singer reduced me to tears in the middle of dinner when he sang "You Raise Me Up"; he had a gorgeous voice! A Few Points for Improvement: Cocktails at the bar varied in quality depending on who was on duty. Many guests went next door to Tamarind where they said the cocktails were much better. It would be nice if the quality of cocktails could be improved. When my partner asked for a Sundowner on the first night, the barman on duty didn't know what it was. It would be nice to have a list of cocktails on the bar. We tended to order what we know best because we didn't know what the available options were. There is a lack of comfortable seating where guests could socialise when they have finished dining. I realise that there are constraints because of the space available but there was nowhere other than the bar to sit before of after dinner. The wine cellar area was never used during our 2 week stay. It would be nice if the hotel would consider utilising this area (together with a section of the dining room) to install some comfortable sofas. the bar stools were a bit of a climb for small guests such as me (5' 1" short). Entertainment was not provided every night and there was no traditional Bajan entertainment. Guest artists were very good but sang from an international repertoire. We spoke to many Brits who would have liked to have seen a steel band or something more typical of Barbados. We can listen to Stevie Wonder and Barry White when we are at home. The hotel had been sold to us as an Art hotel, offering artists' materials for guests to use during their stay. there were no such materials on offer. The advertised "Movie Night" did not take place; when I spoke to a manageress about this she explained that it had been withdrawn because, "some guests complained". There was also no minibar in the room; this wasn't a huge problem because the bar was only a short walk away. On our first morning we awoke far too early (5am). When I looked out of the window I could see guests in their dressing gowns putting towels on sunbeds in the dark!! Some guests also reserved sunbeds first thing in the morning and then went out for the day, returning to their pre-bagged sunbed late in the afternoon!! This is one of the practices that really annoys me on any foreign holiday and I really don't know what the solution is. Having said this, there were always plenty of beds available at the beach, but there weren't enough umbrellas or tables available. Just a few more umbrellas and tables would make it perfect. Most of the staff are lovely but there are a few who really didn't seem to want to be there. If Joan was not on duty in the dining room, the service tended to be much slower. It didn't bother us too much because we weren't in a hurry but it annoyed some of the guests. The hotel needs to make sure that they respond to emails promptly. I contacted the hotel twice before we travelled, asking if the included Art tour was a tour of the island. I received no response so I booked an island tour independently. As a result, we went on an island tour on the Monday, followed by a second island tour (the Art tour) the following day! The Art tour was a bit of a disappointment; we only visited 1 jeweller (who was amazing), a gallery (where we only had 10 minutes to see the art work) and then a pottery (where the potter wasn't available). The driver on the Art tour was very pleasant and we had a nice day. To sum up - We would certainly go to Treasure Beach again. Nothing spoiled our holiday, it was lovely, but there were a few things that would have made it perfect.…
On a positive note, the beach is lovely and swimming great. The pool is small but adequate and the areas surrounding the pool and bar are lush with mature vegetation, all very attractive. On the downside, our first room was 207 which was as far away from the sea as you could get and the sea view that we paid for really was not what we were expecting. We arrived on a Sunday and managed eventually to get a move on the Thursday to room 201, what a difference, as close to the sea as we would wish and fabulous views. Apparently the hotel was 100% full hence the delay, we were fortunate however, some guests that we spoke to arrived at the hotel to find that there was no rooms available and were transferred to another Elegant hotel until a room was available. The beds were comfortable and the shower worked well, the internal room furnishings were ok. The staff were great working under, what appeared to be extreme pressure. The bar area has only tall seating at the bar and nowhere to sit and have a drink with friends or other guests, a result I presume of having to sacrifice bar seating area for sun-beds round the pool. The early reserving of sun-beds was ridiculous, people putting there towels on beds as early as 6am. We were disappointed with the limited food menus at both lunchtime and in the evening and found whenever fish, particularly Marlin was on the lunch menu it was usually overcooked. The breakfast buffet and menu selection was good and well cooked. The in room coffee machines were a mystery to all three couples in our party as it seemed to be to other guests, more a decoration than a Functioning piece of machinery. Had we room 201 from the start our review would have been closer to a 4 star even allowing for some of the other comments, the surroundings, beach and swimming compensating. The staff and management were delightful doing there best in challenging circumstances.…
We totally fell in love with this unique and charming hotel, it’s surroundings and it’s wonderful staff. Yes it may need a little refurbishment, which is scheduled for later this year, (Marriott please don’t change it too much!!) but you honestly over look this as everything else is just great. The rooms are spacious, quiet, very clean and comfortable. You couldn’t ask for a better location, right on a beautiful stretch of beach with not many passers by, with a sun deck overlooking the sea as well as loungers on the beach. As many have said, the staff are just fabulous, what an asset they are to this hotel, everyone of them could be praised individually and should be, no matter what role they played they showed dedication, warmth and great attention to detail, we truly miss them and the joy they bought to each day of our stay. A big thanks to chef Nicolas for the delicious food. We enjoyed every meal, and we’re not the easiest to please! We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Treasure Beach and desperately hope that we will be able to return one day.…
We’ve just finished a fabulous week at Treasure Beach. I wanted to write a review as some of the previous reviews worried me before we went! We were a family of three as our son is 18 , he was put in the living room area on a sofa bed which suited us well. The food at this resort is really good and the drinks selection was excellent especially the rose wine which they sadly ran out of!!! It’s a great location on the beach and also for venturing out to different restaurants occasionally. Most of all I wanted to thank the amazing staff, Joan who was always smiling with a fabulous sense of humour. Ashley who would sort our beds on the beach was lovely. Sabrina would bring us drinks, lolly ices and treats. Shamar, with his beautiful late grandmas picture close to his heart was always happy to chat and top up our drinks. And last but definitely not least Armani, what a beautiful polite young man. He’s and asset to this hotel and I hope he along with the others are appreciated as they make this hotel really special. A big thank you to you all, we will definitely be returning soon to soak up the sun, the atmosphere and of course the wine 😉!! Love Julia, Ben and Charlie (room 307)…
Treasure Beach is a delightful hotel with just 35 full suites set on a lovely sandy beach on the West coast of Barbados. We have been to Barbados many times before but this was our first stay at Treasure Beach. We had a lovely suite with a separate sitting room and a large bathroom with a separate shower (which was a good size and easy to operate!) Breakfast was a la carte/buffet. Lunch and dinner were full service a la carte (apart from a barbecue buffet dinner on the day of the Manager's cocktail party (Wednesday). The hotel has just 35 rooms and being all inclusive it was easy to socialise with other guests, particularly around the bar before dinner! We also liked the fact that it was adults only. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the restaurant manager for whom nothing was too much trouble. I'm sorry I cannot remember her name! During our one week stay we went on a complimentary minibus art tour of the island (organised by the hotel) and also the water taxi service between the other Marriott hotels on the island - Waves, Colony Club and Tamarind. We visited Hunte's Gardens which is fabulous - the hotel arranged taxi transport. The only areas for improvement are that the rooms and public areas need a facelift and the service at dinner was often really slow. Also there was a shortage of sun loungers and many were not used because there were no umbrellas for them. This is an easy fix. The house wine was excellent, particularly the rose and the sparkling wine. Plenty of beach towels. We will definitely stay at Treasure Beach on our next visit to Barbados. We had a fantastic time, it was really relaxing.…
We checked in here for 4 nights as a recce to see if it would be nice to bring our children and grandkids next year , not reading the reviews properly that it’s adult only ! It’ never the less fantastic . Our first 4 days were at Sandy Lane , which is a very luxury focused hotel .. but the Treasure Beach in its own way definitely holds its own . The staff are fabulous .. every staff member we interacted with was a credit to the hotel . We came to check out the hotel whilst still at Sandy Lane , walking down the beach and Carl and Chadderton made us instantly welcome , and in terms of staff competence and charisma , Treasure Beach is an equal partner to its illustrious neighbour . We looked at reviews of the Colony Club , the House , Tamarind , Crystal Cove and Waves , before choosing our 4 night stay ; and Treasure Beach came out top . And we understand why .. it’s got spacious all suite rooms . Ours had a lovely ocean view , it has super staff , a well stocked bar , and to all inclusive guests it’s all free ! The breakfast is great , the lunch is great , and although the food menu on an evening is a little pedestrian , you are 2 mins from the Cliff & QP , 10 mins from Lone Star , 15 mins from Sea Shed so you won’t starve ! A great convivial bar , great rooms , security , what a great place to stay .. we will be back again at Sandy Lane next Jan and here for a while also , that’s guaranteed .…
The hotel was privately owned and 2 years ago was taken over by Marriott but our experience was that of a small hotel. The staff were excellent especially Shantel the restaurant manager and chadderton in the bar. Really attentive. Also the manager (and I don’t remember her name)regularly walked around asking how everything was. The hotel is a bit shabby but the rooms were comfortable and clean. I believe there will be a refurb this year so I’d love to revisit. on a great west coast location next beach down from Sandy Lane you can walk all the way up the beach to Holetown and beyond. It is adults only all inclusive. It suited us as a base. We had breakfast lunch bar drinks etc. and on some evenings went out to the fabulous restaurants. I don’t think we could have stayed in the hotel for 7 days as the food was a bit repetitive. Apparently you can book dinners in some of the larger sister hotels but we heard from some guests that wasn’t easy. That wasn’t our agenda. …
We have absolutely no complaints about this hotel. The location is excellent, and right on the beach for some fabulous swimming. The suite we had was spacious, clean and well maintained. Housekeeping did a great job every day, and towels were replaced regularly, including the supplied beach towels. The fizz and sweet treat on arrival, along with a rum punch, were most welcome. Dine/drink around program worked well. Free trip to art gallery/pottery on the Tuesday was great, a very informative 4 hours around the island. Food extremely good and Chadderton on the bar is a star. I did see some slightly "sloppy" service to some guests, but on watching more closely, I understand why. So, dear disgruntled guests......I know that you are paying a premium and that staff are there to wait on you. However, they are not paid to have you shout at them, be disrespectful and treat them like dirt on your shoe. A lesson in manners would not go amiss for a few guests, and any subsequent shortfall in service is entirely your own fault guys. Be polite and decent, it's not that difficult surely? We had no issues whatsoever and nor did most people. Those that did.....take a look at your own behaviour first. Treasure Beach is great, even if some of the guests ain't.…
We stayed at Treasure Beach over the Christmas period. We had an amazing time 😊 It’s a solid 4 star hotel in my opinion. The food was especially our favourite! Everything was delicious, the seafood was amazing. Some of the best food we had on this island was at Treasure Beach. We met the chef and he mentioned that he moved here from the Waves hotel a month prior and got a promo to head chef. I think he’s definitely doing a great job so far! The staff are nice and attentive. The rooms are clean and spacious. There’s plenty of sun beds on the beach and the pool so tbh I don’t understand some of the previous complaints about the lack of them. We were happy with everything. :)
It was our fourth stay at Treasure Beach. We had a great time. The place is looking a bit dated and it now needs a fairly major refurb. Location is first class and it is right on the beach. Food is very good. Staff are all keen to help. Let’s hope Marriott start to spend some cash on it soon. Hope to return next year.
