We have enjoyed many superb meals at The Sandpiper Restaurant over the years. Last night I thought I'd try something different, tempted by the intriguing name..."Beef Wellington With a Modern Twist". The plate was served as what could best be described as deconstructed Beef Wellington, with all the key ingredients cooked and separated slightly. The triangular pastry was very tasty and there wasn't a "soggy bottom" to be seen! Other members of our family had seared baracuda with soft shelled crab, ultimate burger, butternut squash gnocchi and Swordfish, all cooked to perfection. We also enjoy the laid back vibe with music from local duo, "The Two Guitars" during our meal.
I saw the reviews online about Harold's bar and I really wanted to try a change of scenery. Upon entry we were greeted and escorted by the friendly hotel Concierge who made us feel very welcomed and was really excited about taking us to the restaurant. It was beyond my expectations we met Harold he's very warm his staff is very friendly and genuinely caring. The customer service was on point and the food was delicious we definitely can't wait to return. Cheers guys @foodandadventurelover
I spent whole of November at Sandpiper and had a wonderful fantastic relaxing chilled time. The staff from the front desk to the restaurant waiters and beach and pool attendants were absolutely fantastic and service was delivered with a warm friendly smile. They make this place a very special place to stay and experience genuine Bajan hospitality a gem in the Caribbean.... The gardens surrounding the rooms are well maintained and beautiful...... I would recommend Sandpiper from my recent experience. The managers in particular really made me feel very welcome and treated me like family...... Thank you to the Managers and Terry Ann front office, Jamal at Beach Bar everyone for taking so much care of me. :-)) Randhir
Staying at the Sandpiper on the West Coast of Barbados is a luxurious, super-relaxing treat at any time, but during the pandemic, it was the most amazing treat! I was unsure about the travel restrictions and Covid protocols prior to arrival in Barbados. The flight cancellations and changes were also a bit of a challenge but BA were always very helpful. Then the hotel’s FB information video clinched it for me - that the 2-day quarantine was going to be no hardship and it turned out to be a really perfect pre-holiday! We had the PCR test 3 days prior to travel and Sandpiper arranged our 2nd test the day after our arrival. We were able to use one of the pools set aside for people prior to receiving the 2nd negative test result, ate our meals on the deck right by the sea, and relaxed on our garden terrace. The 2nd test was done at the hotel and 22 hours later we were free! So easy and so worth it! Charging onto the beach and into the warm, clear sea right after cutting off the red band was the best feeling! As was being able to visit some great places on the West Coast - Coral Reef (the sister hotel), Tides, The Sea Shed, The Lone Star, La Cabane and other parts of the island, including the Crane beach and Foul Bay. There is so much to enjoy on the island, especially when “home” is The Sandpiper, with their warm and professional staff, the gorgeous rooms and Harold’s Bar on the beach. It really is Paradise!…
Don't let the quarantine requirements deter you from coming. This hotel is registered with the Barbados authorities as a a quarantine property and the management has done a marvellous job in segregating the facilities to enable those in quarantine and those who are not, enjoy a marvellous experience. Adherence to the rules is monitored carefully and responsibly without being intrusive. Everyone can be confident of their safety. The staff will book a doctor to attend the hotel to administer the second Covid test, the results of which arrived 24 hours later, if guests so wish. This couldn't have been more efficient. The property, buildings and grounds, is spotlessly clean and well maintained and the two pool areas are very attractive. The property is compact but very well designed so there is no sense of it being crowded. There was no problem securing loungers on the clean beach which was steps away from the grounds. This would be a perfect hotel for those with children. Food was very well executed but for our taste, the choice was inadequate; particularly for lunch. However, in the overall scheme of things this is a minor complaint. Our room was large, well appointed, very clean and twice daily housekeeping excellent. Service was the only aspect of our stay with which we were unhappy. It was inconsistent and frequently poor, with a number of restaurant and poolside staff members being lazy, unprofessional and on one occasion, obnoxious and rude. We were warned about this on our first day by other guests so it didn't come as a surprise. The two directors, Wayne and Russell, were highly visible throughout the property at all times, which doubtless was the reason for its immaculate appearance and cleanliness throughout our stay.…
