Trip #25 to Bermuda and decided to try The Reefs. By far one of the Best experiences I have had in Bermuda. This family owned Hotel has mastered all of the right pluses to staying at a South Shore Hotel. The facilities are wonderful and updated and clean. The Rooms all have fantastic views. A main reason for staying on the South Shore is to enjoy the Beach and The Reefs have a fantastic beach offering all the services and frills you like beachside. The Breakfast Buffet was top shelf first class all the way. The Staff was incredibly hospitable and welcoming. Everyone was completely focused on making your stay memorable. Another great surprise was this Hotel still does the afternoon tea @ 4:00PM which is a nice way to get something to hold you over til dinner. Very Bermudian and very nice. Having built the facility on the South Shore Cliffs you will encounter some walking and steps so if you are physically challenged request that your room be near the clubhouse and pool. You can expect to see some fantastic sunrises and sunsets at this location. The Bar/Lounge at the main clubhouse is awesome ... it is traditional Bermudian Cedar and looks beautiful ..... and the rum swizzles aren't bad either!

Hotel's Favorite
Our first time to Bermuda and Reefs Resort definitely set the bar high! We booked a king suite overlooking the ocean, great amenities in the room, private, quiet and beautiful. The staff was kind and helpful from check-in to check-out. We frequented their casual restaurant Coconuts daily for lunch and happy hour and the food and cocktails were consistently delicious. The location is about halfway down the island so you're right in the middle for all major sites and attractions. Hamilton is a short taxi ride away and Horshoe Bay along with a handful of private beaches are 5 minutes from the resort. We are usually the adventurous couple but we loved relaxing on the hotel's private beach surrounded by high cliffs and the gorgeous blue waters of Bermuda. They offer kayaks, paddle boards and snorkel gear which kept us busy throughout the afternoon. We would recommend booking a table on the beach at Coconuts way in advance. This was something we weren't aware of and we missed the opportunity to have a romantic dinner on the beach but made up for it with the other incredible restaurants on the bayside where the sunsets are incredible! We will absolutely be back.

Response from David Dodwell, General Manager at The Reefs Resort & Club
Responded Jul 1, 2022
Dear heatherwanderlust33, So very happy to read of your recent stay with us and love that you felt the authenticity of our property. We are family owned and operated, with my family running it for the last 50 years, but it is the amazing team we have that really makes it such an authentic and personal experience for our guests. It was great to see that you experienced so many aspects of the property, and hopefully on your next visit, we will get you to be able to enjoy the memorable beach dinner option - I am sorry that you weren't aware of it in advance, as it does book up quite quickly. But hopefully one of many reasons to return! Thank you! Sincerely, David Dodwell Jr General Manager

From the preparatory missives sent by The Reefs staff, through the warm goodbyes, our experience with this resort was exceptionally delightful! At first, we were unable to book a room online, because the resort was full. However, we persevered and called, and the reservationist on site had success finding us a Pointe Suite. We stayed in 340, the suite furthest out onto the limestone cliff. It was fitted with its own outdoor hot tub on the balcony, which we used many times. The bathroom was lovely! The double sinks were made of a "bubbly" glass and allowed light to shine through - really beautiful! Good shower, with more than adequate water pressure, and both a rain shower head and a handheld hose. There was a separate commode room and a mirrored vanity with seat. The king bed was very comfortable, with ample lighting and electric/USB outlets. And, the sitting area was ample, with a sofa bed and nice chair facing the second small balcony. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Because we had arranged for an airport pickup from the resort, we felt reassured that getting there would be seamless, and it was. We were greeted upon arrival and gently encouraged to sit down for check-in. The advertised rum swizzle cocktail or fruit punch were served and were delicious after a long journey. Our porter was most gracious, taking us and our luggage down to our suite in the golf cart. Be aware that this property is very hilly, as it is built into cliffs, so there is a lot of stair climbing! Even the most fit guests were commenting on the "burn" in their quads and gluts! This helped to work off the calories we consumed by eating the delicious food prepared at Aqua Terra and Coconuts, as well as our included breakfast every morning. The breakfast chef made excellent omelets to order, and the rest of the buffet spread was very good. There also is table service, should a guest chose not to partake of the buffet. Whenever we had a question, the staff had an answer. They helped us rent a Twizy (2-person electric car), which is all done by phone app. The rental company, called "Current," has three parking & charging spots right on site, very close to the Pointe Suites where we stayed. Driving the Twizy was another highlight of our trip! A very nice guest who was there when we checked-in gifted us two bus tickets, and the next day we did ride the bus to and from Royal Naval Dockyard. It's a good system. The resort makes a strong effort to host several eating and social events throughout each week, and they do a great job with all of them: complementary tea every afternoon, Monday night social, Thursday night beach BBQ and Sunday brunch. The beach itself is lovely, as is the infinity pool and hot tub. Refreshments and food are served on the beach, and there are plenty of umbrellas, chairs, and beach toys and snorkeling gear. There is a real sense of "family" at this place, not only because it is family-owned and managed, but also because the guests are so comfortable and relaxed that they extend themselves to ignite friendships immediately. Everyone always says they hope to see each other there again! Let us finalize our review by stating that we were so impressed by the location, service and amenities that we are seriously considering club (fractional) ownership. On the morning of check-out, we spontaneously decided to tour the "Members Only" side with its two and three bedroom condos. It was outstanding and we truly are hopeful to avail ourselves of becoming members. All in all, we enjoyed an amazing time on Bermuda, largely due to the comfort and beauty of The Reefs, owned and operated expertly by the Dodwell family! 5 STARS ***** Dr. & Mrs. Steve (& Patti) Myers

We just spent five nights at The Reefs Southhampton resort. The resort is beautiful. The staff cannot do enough for you. They are very helpful and pleasant with any requests. The buffet breakfast offers a great variety. Coconuts has nice fresh salads and local fish items. The drinks are delicious. The beach is amazing with great snorkeling. We enjoyed the beach and pool daily. The owners are on the premises and take great pride of their resort. We will be going back to The Reefs next year.

Relaxing Fall getaway week. Spectacular view from our spacious balcony porch, in room 336. Friendly & helpful staff. Very good food at both of their restaurants & had an especially fun and yummy dinner on the beach at the Thursday Night Barbecue. Afternoon tea was a nice time. The beach is beautiful with soft sand and good swimming and snorkeling, and a short walk from every room. When it rained a little we played golf, taxied into Hamilton, read and played cards in the game room. Glad we did not have a car as the roads are very busy, narrow and wind, and parking is limited, but getting around with taxi is easy. My only downside would be that walking anywhere off-campus is challenging, with no sidewalks and busy roads, although one morning we did walk (single-file) over to the lighthouse for some fabulous views. We plan to return!

Fantastic! One of the nicest resorts we’ve visited on vacation. Spectacular views from cliff side room, overlooking the beach and ocean. Great service all around, from the bellmen to the staff at the beach. Good food, included breakfast had everything - omelette station to fresh made waffles and fresh fruit. Came here with four other couples and had a blast. Near the middle of the island, so close to all. Highly recommend!

My husband and I celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary at The Reefs, Bermuda. We had a wonderful time. The staff made our vacation special. They were friendly and warm. The food was delicious, private beach and pool was awesome. Our room was clean with a stunning view. We enjoyed listening to the live entertainment they had in the evenings. We felt safe. We won’t hesitate to go back. We didn’t want to leave.

The rooms and grounds are well kept and beautiful. The service is excellent and the staff is superb. There is a bus stop across the street and a scooter rental just behind the bus stop. They have a rinsing station to rinse sand off as you leave the beach area. They’ve thought of everything!WHEN I go back to Bermuda I will definitely stay at The Reefs!
