Joey D here, i love the size of this hotel, really large just like me. Clean, friendly and of course great food. Excellent water pressure on the toilet so that a plus for me. Elevators were a bit slow on the way up but that is to be expected since i am off my diet for now. Glad to see the big hotels still going strong, just like big Joey D.
Beware! Like many of these fancy Bermuda resorts, the hotel is NOT on the beach. You have to take a shuttle bus back and forth which is annoying. It is on a mountain top. If you are looking to be on the beach, look elsewhere.
It truly was a wonderful getaway! I will be 60 years young in a few years and plan to be back! Even though it’s very expensive, we knew that and we saved to enjoy this special occasion. When we checked in—our room wasn’t ready (my fault) I asked to change floors last minute...the friendly woman at the desk gave us a drink and appetizer on the house while we waited.
Room: We opted for the sea view rooms and when we arrived my friend said, "Whatever the cost for this view it's totally worth it". We were on the 4th floor, on the left side of the hotel. Restaurants: There's a steady run of shuttles to bring you around the resort. The first night we were going to The Dock but discovered that 2-3 of the restaurants are closed during the off-season. We went to the fancier Waterlot; the food was simply amazing! We didn't have a reservation and were not totally dressed up to par. They found us a table in the wine cellar probably to hide us away (ha-ha)! The first night I had salmon with a choice of a sauce, but the salmon was so amazing I didn't want to cover the taste up. The final night I had the Waterlot Oscar, melt in your mouth good! The Boundry was good; when we went it was jam packed and a little noisy. Windows on the Sound has a beautiful view of the other side of the island and a good size breakfast buffet, several gluten-free options. Willow Spa: We each had a spa treatment which was so relaxing. We then sat out by the Spa terrace still in bathrobes watching the sunset. This is the last night and we were going to venture into Hamilton but couldn't seem to get up to speed. This is when we went to the Waterlot for dinner again. Ok, truth be told; we left the resort twice. First to taxi to the grocery store for some room snacks and beverages. Second to go to the Swizzle Inn near the hotel. I have heard everyone has to try the Swizzle. We did; it was good and nice to see one 'local' spot. :)…
It’s was really nice stay with fairmont Southampton I enjoy... Staff is really nice and helpful friendly ❤️ The first time I check in n room was not really clean but same time front office upgrade room with beautiful view
Hello fellow travellers... this is a MUST READ... a bit lengthly but hopefully well informative. Bermuda island is a very nice place to visit and the locals are very friendly. Unfortunately, the Fairmont Southampton is quite an old hotel and not looked after well at all in regards to building material, interior furnishings and decor. My wife and I visited and stayed at the Fairmont Southampton in September 2019 and were provided a room with a defective air conditioner. The following day was moved into another room with yet again a defective air conditioner. Finally offered to move again (and not be upgraded or given any kind of refund or gratuity) but my wife and I did not want to spend our honeymoon vacation continually packing up into yet another suite. I later found out and was told by a Fairmont employee that the air conditioning unit for the entire building was broken down and was broken for several days and they were not telling anybody. Water was dripping slowly and continuously from the ceiling. The drywall was falling down. The hotel maintenance manager even confirmed that the building contained some hazardous asbestos. So along with this and a very rude elderly front desk lady we decided to complain nicely to the manager and even after several emails after our return we found the poor managerial skills of Marie-Berengere Chapoton to be not of any help. It took three days after hurrican Humberto for the hotel staff to clean the patio windows so we could see through them. Dont want to be too picky but to top if off the hotel decided to charge us for the entire minbar when we did not consume any and just looked at the bottles. The hotel months later credited us back for the mini bar overcharge after we noticed. All n all, my wife and I would strongly recommend considering the other Fairmont Hamilton or any other resort on the island. We would strongly recommend the air bnb locations. My wife and I stayed at a local airbnb.ca suite on our first day and it was quite a nice stay and memorable. I will try to post some pics of what I mention above for your reference. Good luck and make sure to check out Flanagan's Irish Pub in Hamilton. - GH…
Huge thank you to Felicity Burton, Reservations Manager at this hotel. Sadly, due to the current world travel situation we are not able to travel this year to Bermuda but Felicity was so kind to assist us promptly with our reservation. We look forward to coming back to the Southampton hotel in happier times hopefully. Wishing all the staff at the Fairmont Southampton all the very best.
Room and bathroom were always clean, the hotel is very large and thank goodness there is a shuttle system that takes you to restaurants along the property and down to the bus stop and beach. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We did research on what travelers said and must see places - unfortunately a lot was closed for their winter season. I didn't expect that. Too cold to swim. We did enjoy the heated indoor pool at night and the hot tub.
Since my retirement, 5 years ago, we have taken a week away during February to get away from the Pa. weather. Also to celebrate our anniversary. The past 3 years we have gone to Florida. Its crowded and the weather isn't great and expensive. Bermuda, on the other hand is delightful the Fairmont-Southampton resort is fabulous. 9 hole golf course right on the grounds and a private beach within walking , although the shuttle runs back and forth constantly. The public transportation is handy and not expensive, and actually adds to the experience of the vacation. Our concierge; Laverne, was extremely helpful in helping us with our daily trips around Bermuda. We stayed in a King Suite on the 4th. floor. Great view, and very spacious. We highly recommend Bermuda and this Resort.…
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is located on a hill with a fantastic all round view. Plenty of amenities at this hotel with something for everyone. My favorite places were the spa and sports bar. The room was very comfortable with a great view. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff enhanced our experience. This is our top choice hotel when in Bermuda.
