I promise I am not disgruntled, but if you stay here after reading this, you will be sorry - that I'll promise you. There were two incredibly major issues: The first is they are renovating 70% of the hotel, so that means the restaurant is closed and they are jack hammering all the time - be prepared for that. The second is much worse: There is a sewer faculty right next door. The smell in this "resort" is beyond healthy. The winds in Aruba mostly (95% time) always blow in the same direction - from the sewer plant, through Amsterdam Manor and out to the ocean. The island has experienced a tidal wave of new construction including giant hotels and new condominiums. The sewer facility was not designed to withstand all that extra waste. There are 13 flights from the US alone everyday. The government won't fix the sewer plant issue. Amsterdam Manor has been experiencing this problem for a long time now, but of course they are not going to tell you that. I talked to the owner, and I believe now they are renovating to sell. We were there in early August 2021. If you read otherwise, then it's likely someone writing from inside the hotel and they are lies - remember tourism is their bread and butter. My son and I both threw up by the third day, completely ruined our vacation. It's really not the hotels fault at all, it's the government who owns the sewer plant. I speak fluent Spanish and got all of my information from the locals because the owner did not want to say much. The staff is told not to say anything about it. The worse part is that the contrast of the beautiful beach across the street along with that incredible sunset is destroyed by the utter stench. If you want to know what the entire resort smells like, pull your toilet from the floor and close yourself in the bathroom, then ask your spouse to go to the bathroom next door. Complete disgust! I don't mean to be funny. Be warned. P.S. The staff and people working there are fantastic, I pray the government helps them out.

My stay at the Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort was fantastic. The location is amazing, directly on the beach. The room was very clean, the staff at the reception were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant Passions on the Beach was wonderful. The food excellent and the atmosphere was very romantic, especially during sunsets. Loida was so friendly and took time to take great pictures of me. The entire Team of the restaurant and the hotel were amazing. I can't wait to be back!!!! Angie

The hotel is lovely, the beach is beautiful, our room was very nice BUT every day there was a HORRIBLE sewage smell, it was disgusting. The odor was strong even while we were relaxing on the beach. The restaurant on the premises was closed for renovations, there was construction all around us; the morning we were leaving the water was shut off so we couldn't prepare for our flight. Additionally, the concierge only works 9-1 and our requests for reservations were not taken care of. I made a spa request, which was confirmed on the Amsterdam Manor App but I was never told where it was and how to prepare for it...I went to the front desk to inquire the day I was scheduled to find out not even the General Manager knew where my appointment was supposed to take place..

We have stayed at Amsterdam Manor on a previous trip which is why we booked here again. Rooms, dated but clean and they are renovating Staff, who we have dealt with have been nice if not always helpful Location, Beach is Stunning as usual, and get a papa any time of day. It ends there, the putrid smell from the sewage plant behind here is nauseating. It’s the kind when you open your septic tank and take a whiff. Now I know why the beach is slow. My comment about the staff above is in regards to our broken airco. We called almost 3hrs ago and had to call again before they showed. The room is Hot and Steamy as we are on the third floor. And no there are no elevators. There was also water dripping from the ceiling in the bathroom that’s super heated because the dehumidifier runs constantly and it blows hot air. Amsterdam, I know you’re better than this and truly hope you get this resort straightened out, it was once a great place to stay. And you need to complain to the Government about that smell.
