Although I’d been to Aruba years ago I was simply wanting a quick and easy escape from the US for Labor Day. From the moment we arrived service was truly A-1. Due to Covid the usual crowds were gone so it was almost like having the hotel to ourselves. The property, room, view and food was everything we’d hoped. Due to the curfew however activities were limited but the pool, beach, and beach bar made up for it.
Such a great place! The service was impeccable, and every member of the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. A special thank you to Lisette at the pool bar! This experience was fantastic from beginning to end. The hotel was clean and we felt very safe and comfortable. Perfect getaway. You couldn’t ask for a better hotel experience.
My family went through all the written information required for are trip to Aruba. We went to Aruba sites, along with all information needed at Hotel. When we arrived at the hotel we were informed we should have received a piece of paper from airport per person over 16 years old verifying appropriate paperwork. We went through the entire airport process, showing all information requested. Including Covid tests, etc. You can’t get through airport without Covid and Insurance verification. Not once in are investigation prior to trip were we told about a piece of paper needed, especially from Marriott were I have very high status. As we got to Hotel, they asked for this paper which we did not have, as we never received it. Not sure what happened but had all the paperwork, Covid tests, insurance, etc. We were treated in-human as they treated us as if we cheated the system and couldn’t believe we didn’t have papers. We were forced to are room, GM (Leslie), said we are lucky they don’t send us back to US. I would avoid the Hotel until the GM was replaced on how to handle things professionally. …
I am a little late in writing this review. We stayed at the property in September of 2020. Overall we enjoyed our stay! I have been to Aruba several times, this was my first time at this property. The location is ...ok but it a bit of a distance from any of the great restaurants in the high rise district. The walk is not unreasonable but there is no signage (at least not that I saw) that could help you make you way over to the high rise area. The staff overall does a fairly good job maintaining safety associated with the pandemic (except for 1 bartender at the adult pool who apparently thought his chin needed more protection than his mouth and nose.) The guests on the other hand - not so much. Once we saw the lax safety from guests at the main pool we tended to stay at the beach or the Adult pool which was much quieter and isolated. Room was comfortable and A/C worked well. Housekeeping was generally ok although there was one day when the room was not serviced (not sure why.) In terms of food. Breakfast was just bizarre. Everyday we would go to the restaurant and they would ask our room number, They would do something in their computer, get distracted and then ask us room number again. This literally happened every day. We pretty much ordered the same thing every day and every day we were charged different amounts. The table set up was different every time we went. One day I asked for preserves for toast and was charged extra. The next day I asked and was provided different preserves and was not charged extra. Sometimes there was salt and pepper, sometimes there wasn't. On a random day breakfast was buffet only - well buffets are not exactly safe during a pandemic. Lunch was generally good. Its not a robust menu but fortunately waiters will bring you food on the beach or by the pool. With so many great restaurants in Aruba, we never had dinner at the hotel.…
I have stayed at the Marriott Aruba three times in 2020. The rates were quite reasonable I imagine due to the Covid crisis. In the peak season it is really quite expensive. Of course all “high rise” Aruba hotels are very expensive. The hotel itself is clean and well run. The staff is constantly cleaning and disinfecting and everyone is required to wear masks. The location is very good especially if you like to windsurf or kite surf. The staff is very friendly and professional. I enjoyed eating in Lavista restaurant where the food is good and servers like Augustin and Francis are always pleasant and professional. I will definitely stay here again mostly because I’m a kitesurfer. The pictures from my hotel room overlooking the beach. This was not the best room in the hotel, but I enjoyed the view.…
