My husband, two young sons and I stayed at the Divi Dutch for a week in July. The setup of the one bedroom suite was perfect for families. The grounds of the hotel and the location are great. The hotel seemed to be very quiet, which we liked because we were with our children. This was our first visit to Aruba so we didn’t know too much. The front desk of the Dutch is closed. In my opinion, if you can’t open the front desk, don’t open the hotel. I don’t understand the reasoning for this and it was very annoying. You have to check in at the golf resort across the street, but it’s really not across the street. It’s a little bit of a walk, not easy to do with two little kids. The woman that checked me in told me nothing about the resort. I had no idea where any restaurants were, or where anything was located at the resort. I did find out later (on my own) they offer golf cart shuttle service to take you to neighboring resorts and the Alhambra mall. We took advantage of this and used them frequently. However, sometimes we waited a minute for a golf cart, other times we waited a LONG time - one night it was 40 minutes, I called three times to see where they were as it was getting late. After 7 nights at the resort I never found any where to eat at our actual hotel. You can order room service from Mulligan’s, which is located at the golf resort, and that was good. However, a couple times we wanted something quicker and close by, but maybe I was missing something, I couldn’t find anything at the actual Dutch. Every time I called the front desk I felt like I was bothering them. They were not overly friendly or helpful. And many, many times they don’t even answer the phone. It just rings and rings, so I would have to keep calling. Again, open the front desk at the Dutch if you are going to open the hotel. Check out was at 10am, which I thought was ridiculously early. I requested a later check out and the lady said no (not very nicely either) and said the hotel is at full capacity. So if the hotel is at full capacity, why is the front desk closed? Overall, we had a great week in Aruba. The weather was perfect. The hotel has three really, really nice pools that are great for little kids, but after seeing the island and visiting other hotels, it I were able to find a room with a similar setup as the Dutch, I would probably stay somewhere else.

The setting of the divi dutch village beach resort is one of its greatest assets. The beaches are absolutely beautiful. Its other great asset is its staff. Always found them to be polite, very helpful and happy in what they did. I cannot praise this enough. Certainly a resort to be visited again.

I visited the Divi property in Aruba after staying at Divi St. Maarten. I needed a resort that had a kitchen as I was traveling with my elderly mother who does not eat out a lot. I requested a ground-floor apartment and was told at the time of booking that it might not be honored. I was pleasantly surprised on arrival to find that it was. The apartment opened directly out to the pool and tiki bar area. The room was sparkling clean and beautifully appointed. The furniture was not dated or scratched. Everything was amazing. The only minor complaint I had was the pull-out bed not being that comfortable, but most pull-out beds are not. I truly enjoyed my stay and look forward to returning soon.

Less than average but not quite poor (yet). I am still here and wish I wasn't. It keeps getting worse so I decided not to wait until it's over to post. It's like a mountain of little things that are culminating into an awful experience. We looked to go to another hotel and waste the $ spent here but there is no availability that isn't another few thousand dollars - so for now we stay. This has to be one of the worst experiences I have ever had. We got a room in one of the worst locations and it wasn't what we booked. Told the room we booked didn't exist and there are no other options (tried to pay to upgrade). How does that happen? (Room doesn't exist). Dont know who to blame for that. We arrived yesterday and already can't book any restaurant options other than the buffet. Ate there for dinner and it was a limited selection. Hopefully it gets better. Yesterday, I was told to call this morning after 10 am to make dinner reservations for Sat night. When I called as directed, I was told I have to come in person. Note: All restaurant/bar and other support staff (drivers etc) are friendly and nice - no complaints about them at all. They go out of their way to assist. All the con's (no specific order): No bottled drinks or anything you can take to your room without paying extra from store that closed at 5 pm (not typical of an all inclusive). So taking medication means drinking tap water (which might be okay if you know it's safe). Other staff: it's like they only want to do the minimum. When I called about the issue with room initially, the woman I spoke to (A####) told me she would speak someone and for me to call her right back in 5 mins. I called back and asked for her by name, and was told she had gone to lunch. Who does that??? We asked for extra towels and when someone came to bring them, instead she tells us that we already had 4 and since we were a group of 3 people, we shouldn't need more. The refrigerator is equipped with an ice maker that doesn't work and the ice machine closet to us, doesn't work and we had to walk a distance to find another. There is more ... I will update later.
